It is big to be honest. It's not really a great camera for me as I'm carrying around a fucking cooling fan and heatsink which is only used when filming and I only take photos. Still, it's a good entry point into FF if you don't want to buy second hand especially if you don't mind carrying 1kg+.
This 50mm 1.8 isn't much nicer than the 35mm 1.4 on my X-T4 so not sure how long I will kepp this camera desu. APSC is completely fine for 99.999% of photographers and much easier to carry.

honestly the s5 sensor is one of the best 24mp ff sensors out there. Dynamic range is crazy and it costs almost nothing these days.

Would a S5 be a good move from my m43 setup? (An OM5) truth to be told I mostly use it scan film lmao

nigga its the same camera but with leica tax

I use an S5 with the 16-35 f4 and 24-105 f4 zooms for side job money. It's an appliance to me. I don't think it's that appealing to use or hold. I wish it had the body of the original G9. Ironically Panasonic gave everything the S5 body. The grip is too shallow. There's no top screen. Having a half empty dial pisses me off. The dials don't lock either.

When it comes to "camera systems," I can't say I've been in the game long enough to care about "investing in a mount." Everyone has the same standard zooms and primes it seems like. As long as they aren't missing core lenses and the lenses don't suck ass, it doesn't matter. The Lumix lenses go for rugged plastic over metal to save weight. The lenses don't feel like cheap crap like budget M43. I don't think L-mount is ever going to be as robust as other options, but I really don't want or need any other lenses. There's also the Sigma "I series" primes and their f2.8 zooms.

Shill thread. Unless you are a broke videographer and by that i mean you have clients and need to use manual focus anyways for control (camera conspiracies type vloggoids need not pretend you need more than sooc 1080p 24) panasois are just big nikon z6iis with even worse autofocus and the same fat lenses with much worse optics.

and worse color science
and worse ergos (as bad as a snoy brick)
worse everything
and no first party DSLR mount to adapt

z6ii is $1k, 50 or 85 plus 24-70 f4 is another $650-850. z6 og is $800.

>>4377904
Outmatched by the sony 50mm f1.4 gm and equaled by the sony 85mm f1.8 respectively.

I moved from an old m43 G3 to the S5 and don't regret it one bit, I love this things low light performance so god damn much

So... vast majority of them?
>>

Sadly those costs several times more, yeah a Batis also outmatches them but it also outmatches your budget.

what

Who designed this, Ken Rockwell?
>>
>>4377951
Anon it shoots raw. Turn the quality setting to raw. Done.
>noooo i meant videeooh
If you are not being paid and are not making a short film you dont need raw. And you dont want ANY hybrid PERIOD because they are compromised for the job where a dedicated video camera is not.

Face it. Panasonic is a fucking joke. Neither here nor there. There is a reason they are bottom dog in the camera market and make fucking nikon look popular (nikon, which fights fuji desperately to avoid becoming #4 instead of a very distant #3)
>>
>>4377951
And the panasonic needs a very expensive paid mod to have workable AF for anything AF is actually needed for, a lens mount that isnt shit, colors that dont look depressing SOOC, and a body that isnt such an uncomfortable oversized brick that it makes some DSLRs look small (especially with its bazooka glass)

Leave the hybrid biz to canon. At least their cameras are comfy and have color science that doesnt make editing mandatory.
>>
>>4377968
>mommy I am too retarded to edit my raws
just shoot film
>>
>>4377968
this. doing real video? r8 on a gimbal. IBIS has a tilt shift effect. you dont need more than clog 3. if you do, your budget definitely includes a rented cinema camera. just dont fuck up your white balance, or use a camera with bad enough colors to need raw (any panasonic fuji or sony lol)
>>
>>4377962
>If you are not being paid and are not making a short film you dont need raw
Wrong, simple as, scrub
>>4377968
>AF
You don't really need it, the rest is true sadly unless you are so much of a poorfag that you adapt only old film lenses, which frankly is common in the market for the cheapest video capable mirrorless.
>Canon, at least their cameras are comfy
Shutter button under the front dial. Case closed, you are a nigger.
>>4377960
You need to send it back to Nikon for them to put something something for the body to shoot RAW, also you could buy the body with the mod already installed some months ago.
It's a great body but not RAW capable internally as is, Z9 changed the entire concept of video for them, damn camera only needs pixel shift to be perfect.
>>
>>4378105
>you dont need af
behold the panasonicope
>>
>>4377790
mid.
>>
>>4378108
You really don't if you are making artsy video, obviously you do if you want to use the damn camera as a capable hybrid.
But honestly a S5 for photo doesn't sound very good other than pixel shift capabilities.

None of you faggots have ever done a blind test between Panasonic and Erica's JPEGs

This thread be like
>but muh contrast af
which fucking betrays you guys don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
First of fucking all, S5II has PDAF. A 5 minute search on Youtube will show you it's 0.1 seconds behind Sony in AF speed, and roughly as accurate.
Second of all, you guys excessively shit on depth-from-defocus CDAF. Yeah, it's shit if you're trying to shoot sports or birds or vlog. But for portraits, street, etc. the shit actually works fine. 0.5 seconds vs 0.3 seconds to lock focus isn't going to make or break your shots. If it does, it's a skills issue. If you're not vlogging then just use manual focus or use AF with a smaller aperture (you're probably overusing bokeh anyway) to hide the pulsing. On a 35mm at f/5.6 the pulse isn't noticeable to normies and I only see it when I am looking for it.
Just more evidence that 4chan gearfags (that's what they are -- can hardly call them photographers) are autistic as fuck. Have trouble dealing with changing information and are more obsessed with specification details than actual user experience.
