How did they get their pictures correctly light when using f/64?
>>4378980tripod
>>4378980Lol. It was their ethos not a strict rule.
this is proof that large format faggots have always been insufferable
>>4379024Do you prefer pictorialism? It seems like the majority of images posted on pee are actually quite in line with their idea of "straight photography" or the documentation of reality.
>>4379062I am. I get shit for my "soft" and "flawed" images all the time. The real subject of my shots is the feeling it evokes. I am rarely photographing the subject for the sake of the subject, the objects in frame are incidental and subordinate to the emotional content
>>4379066>I get shit for my "soft" and "flawed" images all the timeSome people are gearheads and watch for technically good images despite not being very attractive, artfags look to justify the shit they produce and rarely try to get better. You are a victim from the middle road, f/64 and pictorialism can co-exist but their genre denizens are still insufferable.>No subject as protagonist, they are subordinate to the emotional contentSo i suppose your pictures are atmospheric-heavy or stylistically strong, that is pretty valuable.
>>4379070>Some people are gearheads and watch for technically good images despite not being very attractiveIt feels like this is most other photographers I encounter. It seems like they are obsessed with high fidelity reproduction of a scene more than anything else and as long as the photo is sharp, in focus and detailed it is a good photo.>So i suppose your pictures are atmospheric-heavy or stylistically strong, that is pretty valuableI'd like to think so anyway. >>4379073There's atmospheric images and then there's pictures that suffer massive amounts of banding like yours. The Foveon gets AIDS after ISO400 so there's two ways about it, a tripod or B&W conversion/nasty amounts of editing to look like a glitchcore dawn landscape, or something colorful to mask the sensor getting raped.>as long as the photo is sharp, in focus and detailed it is a good photo.Weedingfag and pixelpeep mentality, i understand it because the former live under constant stress to get those results and the latter justify their spending with it. >>4379080>show that the image is not black and white, which is important to meI see, at least there's something visually that can be worked although "culturally" it's hard to pull because most photographers identify it with pushing a sensor too hard.>>4379082>gloomy vibe out of other cameras.Shoot at ISO 6400 at minimum, at night go for 12800 or 25600. I recall my Nikon having the same effects at those ranges. Perhaps a diffusion filter might work to get the gloomy artificial light.
>>4379084>although "culturally" it's hard to pull because most photographers identify it with pushing a sensor too hard.Yeah, most people don't like it and that's fine. I am in a minority.>Shoot at ISO 6400 at minimum, at night go for 12800 or 25600I've tried and it seems like even at high iso most other cameras wither turn to mush or look fine. I haven't tried using the K-1 at 25600, but maybe it's worth a shot. >Perhaps a diffusion filter might work to get the gloomy artificial light.iirc those were shot with diffusion filters on the foveon, I really think they help digital sensors a lot.Now that winter is coming I actually have some film stocks to try and replicate the that dark brooding vibe with. I think I'm thinking of underexposing Harmon Phoenix by 2 stops then pushing it to make the grain really cook. I also have some 800t and some kodak 3200.

>>4379094This one feels like the whole thing is soft and I really like the effect. There is also eerie figure in the trees and the foggy docks beyond. Very cool.
