I was thinking about that as well. I watched a few videos and it does seem nice and like a good way to experiment with high quality video without spending a ton of money. That way when I inevitably don't do any video shooting at least I didn't spend a bunch of money to do it.

I've never had to adjust the microfocus on any DSLR I've owned so far, maybe I've just gotten lucky, or maybe I've never paid enough attention to tell, but I feel like as soon as I get a 5d, I'm going to start having issues with back-focusing.

It shows up on zoom lenses at either end. If you shoot people wide open on a zoom it’s an issue.
I only ran into it with my 70-200 at over 135mm at f2.8
My 85mm prime was always perfect, my 24-70 was always perfect.

Also video on a dslr like that is bad. You will need a massive gimbal or the footage is unusable. Those old dslr and lens are just too big.

Well that gives me hope, I don't really use telephoto lenses. I generally shoot between 35 and ~120mm. So maybe that's why I've never had an issue.

Who knows, you might find your lenses even sharper than you thought after calibration
Check out focal-iq.com and see if your lenses are in the database. Gives you an idea of how accurate they were from the factory (on average).

Depends what you're using it for. There's good and bad. On the plus side the mark 3 has way better AF than the first two, and the raws from the mark 3 give you a lot more to work with, retains a lot more detail in shadows particularly. On the downside is the SOOC images from the mark 3 are really dull compared to the first two, particularly the classic. The jpgs just aren't that nice. The other thing that most people don't consider is that the mark 3 lost the ability to change focusing screens. This is mostly because by this point Canon expected buyers to be completely done with manual focus and manual focus only lenses. To its credit, it's way less likely that the first two to need any manual focusing input in regular shooting, but it also sort of locks you out of fast MF glass with the viewfinder. Personally I would just go with the mark 4 rather than the 3, or the 5ds/rs as they're straight upgrades.

It was a neat tech choice for the time, 15 years ago. It was literally Canon's first DSLR and 2nd DSLR ever to shoot video.
Cameras have come a long way since then, and simply being used doesn't mean there weren't compromises and limitations.

Does the footage look bad now?

Most video specs sold to people are literally worthless. If you are doing sci fi action movie bullshit VFX, then they may be useful, but otherwise you just have an ugly looking cope for not lighting things correctly AKA “the grade”. A really basic bitch camera like an a7iii could shoot a feature film. With the external recorder and timecode gear and a gimbal. If you pay $1009 more you can get almost gimbal stabilization with wobbly corners. Progress!!!!

In comparison to modern cameras, yes. It's mostly fine for 1080p footage, but there's more to a camera than just footage quality.
