I love photography, but I've gotten bored with modern digital cameras. They're nice in the fact that I can shoot plenty of pics, but I just want something different. I want to do film, but 35mm just seems too expensive. Buying the film, developing, scanning, etc. There's a local place near me that does all that for 25 dollar PER roll.

I have 400 dollar store credit to this camera store. I was looking at the Pentax 17. Sure, it's half-frame, but the pics look nice and sharp. But what really caught my attention was the polaroid I-2. All the manual controls and upgraded lens seem appealing. I like instant cameras, so I'm really leaning to this one.

Anyone here able to vouch for the polaroid, or should I get the Pentax?
>>
>I MUST CONSOOOOOOOOOOOOM
>trying different photography styles or imitating an obsecure photographer from 19th century for shits and giggles? huh? fuck that. photography is only about cameras. I HECKIN LUV MY
fuck off

also there is no fucking point in film photography if you're not large format. buy a 4x5 camera or fuck off.
>>
>>4383118
35mm film is vastly superior to the images that come out of full frame digital cameras
>>
>>4383119
Kek, yeah sure mate dumping 10,000 dollars into film WILL make you better photographer overnight. Buy a Leica M6 with Summicron 50mm and shoot only Portra 400 and order drum scans. Goodluck.
>>
>>4383125
You don't have to do any of that, just regular development and scanning with a cheap body.
>>
>>4383126
Yeah goodluck mate. Film is the right consoomer choice and it WILL make you a better photographer overnight. Film is magic bro #ishootfilm

Why aren't you just drawing the things you see in sand with your finger then? Because thats completely free from LE CONSUMPTION.
Oh because you're a fucking hypocrite, I see.
>>
>>4383115
If you have friends. The polaroid.
If you do photography alone. The Pentax.
>>
>>4383152
My mantra is "camera is just a tool". OP doesn't even know why he needs a film camera besides "I am heckin bored with digital cameras". This is peak consoomer thinking.
>>
>>4383154
So you're projecting your feelings in the most literal sense. Great.
>>
>>4383155
>So you're projecting your feelings in the most literal sense.
What feelings retard? Even Bresson said that camera is just a mechanical toy. It is means to an artistic end not end in itself.

But yeah sure dump all your money down in the drain because "I am heckin bored". Might as well start gambling.
>>
>>4383156
Do you usually convince people to agree with you by acting this hostile? Especially in trivial matters like these?
>>
if cost of 35mm is a concern, a polaroid should be out of the question as it's at least twice the price per shot
>>
>>4383159
No, in real life I am utterly passive and gay. I got bullied on /pol/ for being a sandnigger so maybe I learned this retarded behavior from there.

A film camera won’t help you. Maybe you’re stagnant because you take moody photos of nothing (film’s specialty) instead of living things doing stuff.

I don’t really like photographing people. Often because something like that is so personal and much like myself I prefer to live privately without anybody bothering me. I only photograph people that I know, but I’ll never share those.

It’s why I don’t like street photography. I don’t like the cities, and people can be awful. I lived through two of them my whole life and I feel like it’s a medium that has been done to death at this point throughout the decades and even more on social media now. I just like taking pictures of things I like. Just things I think are nice.

have fun and post results
>>
>>4383115
>There's a local place near me that does all that for 25 dollar PER roll.
Bottle of Rodinal is 10 bucks and will do around 100 rolls of 135 film, for stop bath use vinegar, ilford rapid fix half litre is 12 bucks, you dilute it 1+4 and 1 liter of that solution does 24 rolls (can do more if you test it on cut off leader before) so around 60 rolls.
You can scan it with DSLR if you have one or even with mobile phone to check out, and those you really like make prints of and scan prints with flatbed scanner which will render better results than expansive negative scanner.
As next step you can try make your own prints which is as much fun as taking photos. Try old Meopta enlarger and Foma paper, cheap and more than enough for b&w photos.
>>
Adapt manual vintage lenses to your digital camera. You can thank me later.
>>
>>4383115
Nah do what I do.

>Build your own large format pinhole camera.
>Get a bunch of light sensative photo paper. Used shit from the bay is good enough.
>Paper developer. Vinegar for stop.
>Red led torch.
>>
>>4383310
you won't be disappointed, it's not a real camera but it's super fun to shoot with. I love mine
