Don't do this with sony, they have an overly thick IR filter that causes color shifts and sharpness loss with wide angle M mount lenses due to the excessively steep angle the light hits the sensor at.

It's so much leica uses special microlenses to control the problem. If you want leica-like results, Nikon Z cameras put a thinner filter stack on their sony sensors so the results are indistinguishable from leica's own sony sensors. They also have autofocus and adapters, and a 6 bit MtZ adapter that enables trap focus with M mount on the ZF. Even the cheapest nikon would be better for M mount lenses than a sony, a canon, a panasonic (also too thick), or a crop sensor (lmao cropping out all the sovl, imagine only using 1/2 or 1/4 of the lens you paid for)

Out of film bodies, the CL, M2and the M5 are the cheapest
Out of digital ones, the M8 but if you want a fullframe, the cheapest is M240

Probably the Leica CL I'd guess.
I'd get an M2 instead though, you can use that camera for decades more guaranteed.

Ricoh GXR for digital or Rollei 35 for film obviously for more but better there's
- an M9 going for 1k on KEH
- a Minolta CLE going for 699 on eBay.
