>haven't processed pics in a couple of years>reinstall Canon's raw image software>An error occurred.>it installed anyway>launch it>An error occurred.Fuck Canon, what's the thing to use in the Current Year?

>>4385671Nikon’s NX studio is free and works really well. Canon problems. Otherwise, capture one and phocus are industry standard for actual professionals. Lightroom is standard for school portraits and GWAC wedding coverage.

>>4385720>PhotolabNice, so far it's the only one I've tested that can actually use the full captured image rather than cropping after lens distortion correction, finally.
>>4385744Which garbage lens is thisCapture one has an option for moving the crop after distortion correction too, but it doesn’t display unusable pillow tips like that.
>>4385748The "pillow tips" are only shown when I disable "constrain to image". The camera is an ultracompact so it has shitty distortion at the lowest focal length.
I had capture 1 until they took the free version away and my cracked lightroom only works half the timeI hear darktable is pretty good for a free version

>>4385671I’m curious as well, looking for one that does a nice job of comping hdr out of bracketed sets. Lightroom does it nearly perfectly without needing a lot of manual tinkering (big when processing architectural shoots). + I’ve got a 15 year deep Lightroom catalog full of local edits that afaik won’t import into anyone else’s program, though C1 was working on it a decade ago when I last looked into it. Problem is I really fucking hate Adobe as a company and I don’t want their whole array CC shitware apps strewn all over my otherwise perfectly set up machine. I’ve already switched to a pirated copy of LR as a matter of principle, but would love to just pull the plug on them forever. I thought Affinity was set to make a LR competitor years ago but still tumbleweeds. Though Apple just bought Pixelmator, so who knows what they’ll make with unlimited resources, but …someday…A 15 minute posting delay? Fucks sake what manner of bullshit is this now
>>4385671Darktable for a decent UI, or RawTherapee if you have autism.
For me it's AutismTherapee because I enjoy fucking up my snapshits
what's the best program to edit raw files on pc?
>>4386180isn't the other way around
>>4385671If you did install DPP from bundled software CD /Canon support web, try uninstall & install from Canon support web / bundled software CD (if you still have it) instead. My DPP is version 4.7.20.0 and no problems on on Windows 11.For me, Darktable + Gimp can do the job but DPP is far more convenient for Canon raws. (I can use Gimp but my Darktable-fu lacks.)
>>4386392I always installed it from the web, it's just the latest version that doesn't work for some reason. Anyway now I think DxO PhotoLab is better anyway.
