Essentially you should be selling your vision of why it's an interesting photo through framing, lens choice, post processing, visual story telling. A weirdly cropped/framed swan head tells me nothing. Shoot it wide from knee height and let's see what he's looking at?

What's retarded? photographers who focus specifically in light and texture over black & white photography lack the color theory to do punchy color photography, look at street photographers, most of them suck hard at color and use B&W as crutch.
Hell, see many gifted newcomers, they have to convert their work into B&W because they still don't know how to color grade satisfactorily. It's not that hard to understand this phenomenon, can't blame them because learning the wheel, the hue ratios and selecting which one is the best for said picture is daunting.

Many of your photos aren't bad at all. People post worse things here. What you need, however, is some good editing. SOOC looks like shit usually, but after adjusting some settings, they have potential. Upload some RAWs and I'll show you what can be done within a couple minutes.

I do edit color photos. I also posted 2 photos in this thread already about to be 3. I felt posting an example of color grading photography and how awful it is would be effective. Here's a color photo I edited. It's an out of focus cat. I prefer shooting B&W. As the other anon in this thread said OP should be focusing on composition and I suggested using different shooting angles, lenses and post processing. His best photo is the sail boats. Color wouldn't have improved that photo and I find it rarely improves a photo. Unless the color of something is the subject of a photo composition > everything else.
