Post your Insta, follow others, critique each other etc

I'll leave some feedback for the initial posts to get things rolling.
>>
Why did you post your school bully, OP?
>>
Mine is @vanbrandenburg.photography
I mainly shoot digital, but I've been shooting more film recently.
>>
>>4395329
Based, I follow you already. I like seeing your stuff come up in my feed, most stuff like that bottom middle photo would be awesome to see. You pick some really good times of day and locations for photos.

Majority is digital, I have some film I still need to develop. I want to do more portraits but I'm not sure how to find models and asking friends feels awkward.

I think a lot of us here are already following each other, lol.
Maybe we should comment more under our publications, even if Instagram doesn't value it.

I am probably the only one here not on IG

And I refuse to join.

>Turn on trip to announce to a thread that you're special and unique
I have no social media either but you don't see me making a 4chan account to fuckin boast about it. You might as well make an insta, you seem to have the right mindset.
>>
>>4395329
Been following you since the last time you posted in the Instagram Thread.

>>4395332
Your latest post (DEGkKywyV9W) - nailed the lighting, botched the perspective a little. Tag your locations when posting architecture, people will want to know what they're looking at.

CIypxPKpfPq is your best photo by far.

I'm https://www.instagram.com/ozren.c/ and I'll be here all week.

Forgot to drop your trip there faggot. I'm not a contrarian IG is just dumb clout chasing shit its a high school popularity contest

>>4395361

Get fucked no one asked for your opinion no photo
>>
>>4395362
The irony is you're also displaying high school clout seeking behavior by having a trip. You're calling people nophotos while hoping everyone remembers your super special pics so you don't have to post any either. You're sitting at the loser's table making snide remarks about the cool kids so that you can make yourself seem cool too. The reason you don't use social media is either because you're scared of some boogeyman or because you know that you'll be lost in the sea of other unremarkable photographers on that platform. So you post on 4chan and shit on everyone who doesn't reverse you here, where most people are passing through and don't give a shit anyway but by the only objective measure (getting (you)s) you're doing great because people want to tell you off.
>>
>>4395351
Great so this thread isn't for you, attention whore tripfag. No one asked, no one cares you obese fucking TRUCKER.

Thanks for the kind words Anon. I'd love to take more pics like that bottom one, it was on expired AGFA XRG 100, had this faded look the whole time, I loved it.

You've got a wonderful eye for composition, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Interesting, what should I have done different? Should I have gone for a lower perspective or is it a lens distortion issue?

I really like the colors in yours, that bottom middle photo on that collage is excellent. I love the sky color. Any tips on how you edit your photos?

>>4395367
That top row is insane, both for subjects and how they were taken. I'm really interested to know the story of that top middle photo.

>>4395388
Some really cool locations in these. The colors feel a little too muted for me, but that's completely subjective. That middle and bottom row are my favorites by far.

Symmetry and preservation of verticals, IMO.

>I really like the colors in yours, that bottom middle photo on that collage is excellent. I love the sky color. Any tips on how you edit your photos?

Thanks. I use gradients on my skies a lot, mostly radial, sometimes linear. Push the blues towards the green a bit and that's mostly it. Canon's color science does the rest.

Sometimes, when I shoot architecture during golden hour, I'll add some purple into the shadows as well and crush the blacks a bit.

I think I see what you mean, thanks for the tip. I'll look more into perspective, I guess I just tried a little too hard for it to look realistic rather than artistic. It's been a tough balance for me admittedly, considering people tend to not like over edited photos.

>Push the blues towards the green a bit and that's mostly it.
Cool, I've give that a shot on some future photos and see how it goes. Though I'm guessing you keep that gradient on just the sky and don't let it affect the other blues in the image?

> I'll add some purple into the shadows as well and crush the blacks a bit.
Same. I want to do more crushed blacks but people always make it out to be the ultimate sin in photos, so I've almost never done it. I'm sitting on a few photos I haven't posted for that reason (pic related). Maybe I just don't know enough about the technique.
>>
>>4395422
>Though I'm guessing you keep that gradient on just the sky and don't let it affect the other blues in the image?
Yes, I use masking.

>I want to do more crushed blacks but people always make it out to be the ultimate sin in photos

Depends on the scene, I guess.
>>
>>4395424
>Depends on the scene, I guess.
Fair, I can see that. How is that photo above for it? Overcrushed?
>>
>>4395424
Generally speaking, crushing the blacks is a 4chan approved hobby in all boards other than /p/. However,
>If the crushed blacks are not your main subject, it matters less
>If you're intentionally going for a silhouetted foreground / background then it's completely fine
>If the alternative is blowing highlights on something more important, like your subject, it's also completely fine
Don't worry about the faggots screeching about DR on this board, they havent shot anything with backlighting and/or shoot exclusively street """photos"""
>>
>>4395465
>and/or shoot exclusively street """photos"""
One of the few instances where crushing blacks is good (in photos) so wrong, still i agree with the post
>>
>>4395465
DR is the single most important thing. Film basically had 20 fucking stops. Slide had 8 and everyone hated it. I used to own an mft and yes, DR matters a shitton and the only cope is dont take the photo or crush the shadows. Even FF digital is worse than film (blown highlights shift fucking pink)

I can expose negatives +5 stops on full frame thats solid white but on film its cleaner shadows and the highlights dont blow. engineering nerds will call me wrong because ackshually dynamic range is the signal to noise ratio of the normalized image but fuck them, digital cameras have ass DR.
>>
>>4395411
>>4395403

Thanks

The middle Photo is a Detail shot from a large fountain in Nuernberg with a lot of different scenes called the Ehekarussell.

just like in the first one I was there at the right time to find a angle that puts you in the scene with the sun in the back
>>
>>4395482
Film negatives have better highlight detail than digital. But shadows lift much better on digital than on film.

>>4395482
>DR is the single most important thing.

Sorry I didnt know I was the gearfag for believing a $10 praktica with a $5 50mm f1.8 takes better photos than your $1699 x-t5 with its $1000 35mm f1.2 lm wr L g master S line. You don’t deserve to see my work. All gearfag means to you is anything that says your crappy digital camera is a scam. Typical digital consoomer. No. I refuse to post on Instagram because the platform doesn't offer revenue share with the creators akin to YT & X/twitter.
And no, I would not expect my Insta to be a cash cow or anything. I just won't provide Instagram with material without merit based compensation.

Thank you, I’ve definitely had my share of bad photos but it’s nice to know I’m on the right track, at least.
I love Amsterdam, that trip was my fourth time and the first time not being broke. Had an apartment in the middle of the city for a week, got to be there for King’s Day, it was a blast, I didn’t want to go home by the end of it.

instagram is a cesspool of shit, you can get ban for nothing in the same time there are accounts posting rekt, animal abuse, onlyfans roasties pretending breastfeeding to show tits (breastfeeding, cancer awareness and protest are excluded from censorship there so they pretend to feed the doll as 'instructional video'). Meanwhile I've got 3 bans for literally nothing, had full bio with my name, architecture pictures, no skin, no political shit, just 'not following community guidelines'. You can appeal but it gets you nothing, those accounts have now been deleted for a year, stil cannot use that name to register new one.
BUT instagram is where ad agencies are, and having more than 10k followers in most lines of business place you in 'influencer' box and you start to get deals. That's where money from instagram is.

Its ads. All social media is are ads disguised as content. Engagement bait if you will.
So its no wonder non advertisers are being pushed off their platforms, either via sneaky bans or algorithms hiding your content. This is why I like /pee/, no algo (yet)
