Camera gear is driving me fucking nuts. There's like five company's that design and make good gear, and then like 90 Chinese brands with like two or three good ones that just either make knock offs or I guess get the liquidated unused shit and slap their name on it. And it's no subtle either.
>>4396242>theres like 5 hilariously overpriced boomer brands of mass machined ball heads and then 90 reasonably priced mass machined ball headsIve had a chinese pano/fluid head for years and it still works great and my $25 ebay find sirui tripod is solid too
>>4396242Yes, for stuff that's easier to make than the actual cameras like tripods, grips, accessories and even lenses, there are mountains of chinky dogshit. But this isn't anything new. In the country I live in, the people are exceptionally stupid. Some of the stupidest people in the world, especially the old people. Everyone will always buy the cheapest version of everything no matter how much worse it is than the second most expensive thing, and you can see this when anyone is selling used gear. The most common lens brands you'll see are dogshit like Tasman, Makinon, Vivitar. Stuff that was unusably bad in its day and measurably worse now.
>>4396242Chinese ball heads are fine. Its a ball you clamp in place. It should never be over $50 unless it is designed specifically to support active machine guns in a combat environment.
>>4396242Some of the Chinese stuff is really good. Got an all-metal mini tripod with extension tube and ball head for $15. Holds my 2kg camera setup solidly.
>>4396250I don't think that anybody in their right mind would choose a ball head to mount a machine-gun on desu. If they did though, they'd probably charge $15,000 and then lose it in storage because nobody knows what it was for.
