I don't have one and never used one, but I am intimidated. The size, weight and of course price. I know for wildlife it's pretty much a must, and I love doing that kind of photography, but carrying one around sounds like a huge pain in the ass when right now I have a very lightweight compact setup.

According to snoyfags you should be able to casually carry a gigantic tele lens that weighs a few kilos and hold and shoot it with only 2 fingers without any problems (if you have problems with this you should see a doctor)
>>
>>4399278
This is where micro four turds comes into its own. My trannysonic G9 and Leica 100-400mm have the same reach as a massive 800mm lens on a full frame, while being compact and light enough to walk around with and shoot handheld all day.

You’re being a wimp. Attach the strap to the lens so it points down.

the 180-600 really is well balanced with good ergonomics and internal zoom, but it's undeniably heavy compared to APS-C equivalents

if Fuji could just get their act together and provide R5 level AF, I'd go back to the XF 100-400 in a heartbeat... I've also been totally underwhelmed with the stab on the Z8 desu

All you've sold me on is fullframe with that noise and lack of detail.
>>

no, anon achieved critical focus
the lighting is just flat dummy so there's no much pop

Its lacking detail. Looks like diffraction smearing.
>>
>>4399367

Blind retard lmfao there's also motion blur
Imagine paying over $3k and that's your photo quality hahahaha. No wonder some anons always compare mft to cellphone quality.
D500 + 200-500 would easily btfo this for half the cost. Hell could get a z7 used and 180-600 for less. You truly have to be a limp-wristed and blind to go mft + 100-400.
>>
>>4399375

Hey, lets not go that far. D750 at least.

M43 is just camcorders. Flagship snoy video codecs at 1/2 quality.

>>
>>4399384
The d750 has AF in the OVF.
it’s about as "meh” for hit rate as the g9iis autofocus, meaning shooting bursts and culling later is the only way af-c will ever work on something moving
This is just a fact

Micro four thirds has finally caught up with the usability of a dslr from 2013, but optics and sensor size remain crippling to people who appreciate rendering (maybe mtf chart and computer measured edge sharpness vignette falloff wankers prefer m43)
>>
>>4399385
still benchracing I see
>>
>>4399386
I bought and returned a g9ii. Its not better for anything but video codec wank than a d750 at all. The photos were so gross i deleted them. It felt like paying $2000 for an em1ii.

The Nikkor pf lenses aren't that heavy, but they're kinda pricey. Honestly just get a monopod and the wimberly monogimbal thingy. There's monopods that collapse to the ground too, useful for wildlife. Even a 600mm f/4 isn't a lot to carry around on your back, it's just unwieldy to use. I don't pixel peep or print big so I'm happy with my mft gear which is all easy to handhold.
For Nikon Z the go-to is the 180-600. But keep in mind also that your Z7ii is not good for action or wildlife. Consider a Z8 if you're serious about wildlife. Shit's expensive though.
>>
>but carrying one around sounds like a huge pain in the ass

It fucking is. 200-500 + Tele on a D850 weighs a ton, and then if you add other lenses to the set, you start to feel like you're piggy backing a midget with heavy shopping.

>But keep in mind also that your Z7ii is not good for action or wildlife.

I know. This is my first serious Camera, previous ones being a D3200 and some 4x Olympus back in 2004. I got it because it's light and small, but still has the Z8-Z9 sensor. I knew the downsides, but since I just got back into it the past year I'm still learning so there is room for improvement or me to get something better later on. I've got some great wildlife shots with my MC 105 and Zii already just by practicing.

Nice douglas squirrel. A sharp prime like that macro lens with a high MP would give you lots of croppability, but definitely look into getting a real supertele if you enjoy this. Nothing wrong with using that body for wildlife, it's just not what it's made for. It's still better than anything anyone had 20 years ago.
>>
Just rent one OP and see how you like it. Rent a couple with different weights to see how they feel. Long lenses are annoying regardless of weight, doubly so ones that extend when zooming. Or just buy one and return it if you don't like how it feels.

I actually did think it was sony. The rendering looks a lot like an a7rv and it has the same yellow greens. Sony lenses also dont vignette much, less than canon more than nikon, so its easily erased in post. Vignetting being an issue is a very filmfag mindset. Its only a slight issue on 3 stop vignette lenses like the nikon 26mm f2.8 and canon 50mm f1.2 when shooting wide open at high ISOs or trying to recovery landscape DR wide open for some reason.

Yep, the only AF full frame mirror lens (Minolta also made one for a crop film format). That's the reason I got it, as a "collector's piece", rather than to use. I've only taken a a few photos to test it, here's a comparison with the Sigma on the right also at 500mm and f/8. It's not as bad as I was expecting it to be and could actually be usable.
