The Welsh are supposedly short beady eyed and swarthy due to being "unmixed" "original" Britons, but most English are still majorly "Briton" in admixture and Saxons etc are not hugely genetically distant to Celtic groups to start with, and I'd bet the "swarthiness" is really a remnant of pre WSH/WHG mixed groups
