maggots are harmless in a wound like that. they only eat rotten flesh. you'd obviously prefer not to let it get that far.Keep him well fed and hydrated, give antibiotics for secondary infection, X-ray/MRI for internal shrapnel. Give 2 month recouperation while learning some skills in a combat classroom, or doing light duty paperwork. Reassess when wounds are closed.Also, SEND FLY PAPER AND FLY TRAPS.
