>Last week John Deere announced it would be cutting some salaried positions due to a decline in agricultural equipment sales, and Wednesday, those employees learned their fate.
>In a statement, the company said the layoffs were due to three factors: significant economic challenges, rising operational costs, and reduced customer demand. John Deere Sales are down 20% this year and net income is down 17%.

You know the economy is fucked when Boomer's don't even have disposable income left.

John Deere is anti right to repair

Pretty sure John Deere USA only builds their biggest combines, forage harvesters and some tractors. Boomers aren't spending your inheritance on industrial agricultural equipment.

Deere started off manufacturing plows but after 190 years have now discontinued them since more farmers have moved to cultivators, disks, etc...

Gee I wonder why patriotic farmers would rather buy fucking poojeet made tractors.

Boomers maintaining a half acre lawn have nothing to do with agriculture.
>>

That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. OP's post says that John Deere laying off employees in Iowa means boomers don't have disposable income but the Iowa plants only manufacture the heavy equipment.
>>
>>475688636
Why is there less demand for heavy agricultural equipment?
>>
>>475688337
I keep seeing Case and Kubota in the midwest. Does Deere have a foothold anywhere?
>>

at most, you just need a ride-on mower if you're unable to push one. and a chainsaw.

only proper farmers buy heavier machinery.

Because John Deere is making shittier and shittier agricultural equipment every year and losing more and more market share to foreign manufacturers.
Guy I know buys 10 to 15 new JD tractors for his business every year for the last decade. Two years ago he committed to never buying anything John Deere again and has only bought Kubota since. Their products are so shit they're losing multi generational clients that have only ever bought green.
