If you go to Merida, the people care even less about that topic, since they're barely impacted by crime. The same happens in Aguascalientes and other cities that have relatively low crime. In general I'd say mexicans are more worried about surviving day to day, if they can laugh and eat and drink on the way, good enough for them.
