Colleges expect students to leave, gain employment, do well, and convey a positive image of the college as producing knowledgeable productive employees/citizens.- H1B can be almost completely rolled back, or more practically replaced with GC/permanent residency program with the original company bearing some limited legal responsibility.- since GC/Permanent residency is now part of the student visa program, the Executive & State department can take a much more active approach in using it as a diplomatic cudgel. continued

H1Bs are paid like actual dogs, and are willing to endure living on ludicrously substandard wages, because the company at the end will sponsor them for a greencard/premanent residency. In effect business can sell citizenship and reap tremendous savings in wages. If they select people that are just "competent" enough and learn only highly specialized skills pertaining to that business, they can continue to reap wage savings.Europe should really be way more concerned about this program. We already have a ton of white EU students, a large chunk have to return because white EU students aren't willing to accept shit wages for potential citizenship when they are allready a citizen of a western country.
