You can still purchase a Costco hot dog without a membership. In the United States, Costco allows non-members to buy food and drinks from their food court, including the famous $1.50 hot dog, without a membership.
To do this, you can simply go to the Costco food court, which is usually located near the entrance of the store, and order your hot dog. You can pay with cash or credit card. Some locations may have a separate entrance for the food court, so you might not need to go through the main store entrance.
Keep in mind that this policy may vary by location, so it's always a good idea to call ahead and confirm that the Costco near you allows non-members to purchase food from the food court.

The primary demographic of Costco is upper middle class. They sell memberships. They lure you in with cheap food products and favorable pricing on bulk items. The hot dogs are sold at a loss. But they make up for this by their overall business strategy.

You buy a Costco membership, you buy bulk items and some hot dogs. But oh you've been wanting that new speaker or TV or computer or whatever. And it's at Costco! And it's on sale! Wow! Might as well pick that up while I'm here.

You buy those items. You meet up with your friend later who wow he bought the same thing as you! Except he bought that new tv/speaker/laptop at Walmart for half of what you paid. Wtf? You thought Costco was supposed to be cheap? Why are these other products marked up so much?

Why you ask?

Because you're an upper middle class person who can afford to drop that money on a product and won't question it because of all the money you save at Costco. You just obliterated all of your savings that year with a single purchase. And you paid a membership fee for the privilege. Enjoy your hot dog.
>>
>>488381947
The price of $1.63 is about the cost to buy equivalent ingredients from the grocery store. It's a no-profit break even cost meant to attract customers sure, but if that's the base cost how is Five Guys trying to justify $7.50 for a dinky shitdog and who the hell keeps buying them.
>>
>>488381820
>Five guys sells food. Costco sells memberships and uses cheap hotdogs as bait.
It's only like $65 for a Gold membership. That's now pretty close to the same price for a lunch at Five guys.

while correct, they are not allowing people in without a membership any longer. They scan them at the entrance now.

Pro tip: If you tell them you are there to use the pharmacy, which DOES NOT REQUIRE A MEMBERSHIP, they will let you into the store. So lie and walk in, go browse for a second, then come back and use the food court and leave. Your welcome anons

Ironically the best pizza place in my area, within a radius of 15 miles is actually $21 for a classic pepperoni. And it’s not any major pizza chain either but the best pizza. Beats out everything else we tried and actually comes close to NY style pizza, the real pies you get from Italian pizzeria joints.

Youre right THE person working at Costco will spend a few minutes preparing the hotdog warmer and opening the package of hotdogs. Then the machine keeps them warm. Now spread that cost out over each hotdog and it works out to a few seconds and a few pennies at most preparing a hotdog and bun that cost the store 50cents at wholesale cost.

Stupid retards.
>>
>>488389737
yeah and they have to clean up consistently, manage the inventory, the machines, interact with customers individually, accept payment, give change, close/open the till, etc.
regardless of how long each of those actions take, they still need at least a couple of employees manning the thing all day
and it takes space away from items that are higher volume, higher dollar margin even if they aren't as high in % margin (on just the raw materials, mind you), require less individual employee maintenance per item, and can be much more densely stocked. the rent space isn't free, and the opportunity cost isn't free, either. that is another part of how they can be cheaper, too. costco is usually a bit more out of the way where rent is much cheaper.

either way, it's obviously a loss leader that is just a part of their image and keeps their customers happy to come in. Some might not buy much other stuff, but most do.

Your universe sounds based and keyed. In mine, they don't even give White guys an interview and run full Spanish speaking crews, led by women.
The prices are high in my universe cuz it's their whole gimmick to have 5 Gays present, and because they calculated how much they could get away with. No racial factor at all
>>488392072
And this anon's universe is keyed too. In mine, Wataburger is 95% in Texas and nonexistent in the north. In n Out similarly confined to the west coast. Whereas 5 Goys is conveniently all over the place

Five guys used to be like, $5-6 for a burger, just like chipotle used to be like $7 for a fuckhuge burrito.
When I was in college I could get two chipotle burritos in one day and that felt like eating good.
I can buy a hefty ribeye for the same price as a McDonalds meal with a large fry and drink.
Goyslop is pricing itself out of existence, and I feel nothing but a smug sense of victory for it.
Get fucked burgerkikes.

Costgo still has it's founder heading it who is an actual working class Christian.
You can expect most prices to quickly double and triple after he dies while profits mysteriously stay the same or even decrease as the bureaucracy of their corporate sector grows exponentially.
This has happened with other businesses over and over again.
>>
>>488383383
Based overall. Maybe there are some big families or people who run businesses who save money shopping at Costco. We tried it for 3 years and ended up wasting more money and particularly time than before. The whole built-in gas station and theme park feel wasn't for us.

costco is a prime example of a scammy jooo outfit

Jim Sinegal and Jeffrey H. Brotman[23] opened the first Costco warehouse in Seattle on September 15, 1983.[24] Sinegal had started in wholesale distribution by working for Sol Price at FedMart; Brotman, an attorney from an old Seattle retailing family, had also been involved in retail distribution from an early age. During this time, small businesses were given an 8% or 9% discount on inventories.[25] Sinegal began his retail involvement as a grocery bagger.[26] A second store opened in Portland in October, and a third in Spokane in December 1983.[10] The company went public in 1985 with 17 warehouses nationally and 1,950 employees.[24][27] The company was initially headquartered at its first warehouse in Seattle but moved its headquarters to Kirkland in 1987.[24]

if you have to look up early life of those kikes, you are too new here or have your jooodar recalibrated

> How is it that predatory business is still alive in the predatory business machine

sure is a mystery anon. let us know if you ever figure it out
>>
>>488381884
you can pay the $60 per year for a costco membership and basically break even with that on just in getting a hot dog or pizza slice there once a fucking month. this is ignoring that you can buy like 30 mac and cheese boxes for half the price of the local grocery store etc. even if you are not into getting like a 6 year supply of toilet paper or a gigantic bucket of way too many cookies or something the only way to not make that money back is to never set foot in there again.

basically if the nearest costco to you is like an hour drive away or something and you won't have the ability to just drop in from time to time for a bite to eat and maybe take a look around, maybe it wouldn't be worth it. but even so, if you go there once a year and buy a new piece of electronics looking for deals for christmas or whatever, you'd still save more than the card costs.

costco doesn't make money on what they sell. only the memberships. everything else is no profit mostly. it's a CLUB store. the sellin crap is just to get you in the club. where they make they actual money on memberships.
>>
>>488402665
I don't believe that, they may have lower margins because they do wholesale but there is no way that their profits primarily come from membership dues.

All I know about Costco operations is that the CEO threatened a guy with literal murder when he suggested that they raise the price of the rotisserie chicken and that they pay their employees very well to incentivize loyalty. I’ve heard that they very much encourage the old boomer adage of sticking with a company for life and that culturally quitting Costco is made into this huge deal.

American business owners are just fucking greedy. I checked with Google and the minimum wage in the U.S. is just $7.25 or something like that. When I was working at Burger King back in 2006, I was only getting paid like $5.20 an hour while some of my coworkers already had gotten their pay raised to $5.25 an hour. Japan's minimum wage is lower than the U.S. minimum wage while Scandanavian countries don't have minimum wages because the wages are agreed upon by the business owners and the trade/workers unions. All this freaking time, I thought the minimum wage in the U.S. was like $9 or higher. But it isn't.

We should lower the minimum wage down to something like $6 an hour and tax American companies who are overpricing their products while also outsourcing jobs to Hindu India.
