>what's happeningStarship’s Sixth Flight Test.>what does this mean? qrd?'Starship's fifth flight test was a seminal moment in iterating towards a fully and rapidly reusable launch system. On the first attempt, the Super Heavy booster successfully returned to the launch site and was caught by the chopstick arms of the launch and catch tower at Starbase. Starship’s upper stage went on to demonstrate several improvements, resulting in a controlled entry and high accuracy splashdown at the targeted area in the Indian Ocean. The next Starship flight test aims to expand the envelope on ship and booster capabilities and get closer to bringing reuse of the entire system online. Objectives include the booster once again returning to the launch site for catch, reigniting a ship Raptor engine while in space, and testing a suite of heatshield experiments and maneuvering changes for ship reentry and descent over the Indian Ocean.'>where can I watch it?Launch is at 4pm CT (<2 hours). Stream will be up at about 40-45 minutes before that (~1 hour).https://www.spacex.com/launches/mission/?missionId=starship-flight-6https://x.com/SpaceX>this isn't politicsTrump is there. SpaceX is not something like 96% of all mass launched to LEO. There's never been anything even remotely close to this level of dominance before.
A little early for a waiting roomStill 1 hour and 30 minutes till launch
Trump in brownsville
So they are doing the booster catch with the tower again but is the goal to catch the starship in the same way? They are going to drop it in the ocean today.
>>488952490controlled landing in the ocean in teh daylight so we ccan see it better. restarts ship engines while up there and some differences in the re-entry profile. lots of little changes but that all seems to be kept quiet at the moment so far as i know.
>>488952490Catching the Starship is the end goal. They are doing additional testing of various systems in the Starship, basically seeing what they can fuck around with and testing its limits. They removed a load of heat tiles from so they can see where to put catching gear, and it will descend at a higher angle in the final moments before landing. They will also attempt a re-lighting of the engines in space.

>>488953633i think they blow the thing up once its down, plus its deep, plus space lasers and armed drone subs running on starlink.
>>488950662it's gonna blow up. screenshot this
>>488953633None of it's top secret, there's probably chink spies working at spacex sending over all their design documents. They just don't have the production facilities to make raptor engines.
>>488954070It very well might, but last time it didn't.
>>488953154>SlaveX>Lower salaries than industry peers>More hours than industry peersI'd rather just do my "boring MIC" shit in my SAPF enjoying my 3-day weekends, and getting paid 1.5X what my counterpart at SpaceX gets, not including overtime (they don't get to charge for hours over 80 like we do).>but muh Kool projectspicrel
>>488954395I'd happily slave away at SpaceX knowing I'm having a hand in fulfilling our birthright of colonising the stars.
>>488954070I kinda hope it does. It would be exciting but it would also provide valuable data for SpaceX. Normies won't see it that way because they are two-dimensional beings, but who cares about normies?
>>488954079Is it really that hard to make? Design, yes. But produce?
>>488953940Yea they blow it, but shouldn't be that hard to drop a big magnet and pull the cunt up off the ocean floor.
>>488951265Imagine the smell!
>>488953633It doesn't sink it does a controlled landing on the water and they recover it.

what am i looking at?
>>488964843Looks like the termination system was safed and not used. The explosion was some sort of fuel reaction when it tipped over but it just blew out the rear of the stack instead of destroying the booster.

>>488972299Yes the checkerboarding. They did the same thing for early ICBMs.It's a sweet look though, they should keep doing it anyway.
>>488965061The ship worked fine, landed perfectly. The booster didn't look quite right on the way down so instead of catching it with the tower they landed it directly on some endangered seals, causing them to explode.
