Just quit drinking coffee before you know it you’ll have 15 grand saved for a down deposit on a house. You have to make sacrifices if you want to be successfully like the older generations. Cope and seethe below.

It's not just about the coffee. It's about the mentality of being okay with spending $7 on coffee seeping into other things in life. They are the same type of people to eat out every day, go on vacation every couple of months and get 2 cars that are financed while living in a "luxury" apartment

you have to spend money on something if you want to go to any kind of even remotely social setting like a coffee shop. there are no spaces where you can just hang out for free except for public libraries. I doubt coffee shops are making that much money off your $5 coffee, that goes to rent, staff, and hiring cleaners for the restroom. they make their money off food

After I recovered from near fatal illness I got a job in a factory. I worked like a damned dog and saved 70k in 4.5 long years just waging and practicing self-denial. Well, it wasn't enough to even consider making the downpayment on a house. I said I wanted to consider borrowing 100-150K and putting my cash down, and they fired back that the bare minimum is 250K for a 2-3 bedroom bungalo style home in blatant disrepair. I said fine, I'm patient, but I will meet you halfway and consider bumping my debt up to 200K, with 70K down. They immediately started sending me listings for single wide trailers from the 80s on 1/10th acre city lots for 350K because they thought I'm a sucker and they want to clear their own listings of the detritus. When I calmly responded that I would prefer to wait for the right listing to come along, I got ghosted in short order. It's impossible for me.
>>

>>
>>488969618
Buying coffee is a waste of money but it’s a total read herring anyways. It’s so much easier to deflect the blame away from your parasitic landlord friends than address the real issue, which is the cost of living crisis. Not buying coffee isn’t going to slow inflation or energy/rent prices, its like governments guilting citizens into recycling while big companies are allowed to pollute all they want.

This. And the sooner you can buy real estate the better. It's the ultimate hedge.
>dollar goes up, house price goes up (interest is higher)
>dollar goes down (interest lowers) and just refinance the rest of your loan when it's profitable, and lower your monthly costs

I've got over half a mil on loan in hard assets I can afford at 2% averaged and I didn't have to put any money down. Good luck getting that interest rate for the next 10 years.
Best part is I can transfer the interest rate to the new owner if/when I sell.

If you didn't take advantage of the last 10 years, and especially during COVID, I feel sorry for you.

>>488969618

This is actually good advice for many and it's not just coffee; a lot of people spend what they consider insignificant amounts of money on small purchases every day, sometimes multiple times. If you're looking to save money, cutting back on these things is a great way to so it.

But, unless you're a 400 pound person spending 50 bucks a day on "coffee," or the sugar loaded ice cream concoctions Starbucks sells that people call coffee, I dont expect many people will suddenly become wealthy homeowners by cutting back.

Seriously tho, are there people that really buy coffee for $5 a day, and even multiple times a day?
I don't get it.

If you don't have time to make coffee at your home before work, you don't have time to enter a coffee shop and buying a coffee either.
And all work places provide coffee in one way or another... so what kind of people actually buy daily coffee like this?
>>

Yes. I've worked with people that would spend about $50-100 on shit like that every day on average. Coffees, ordering food or eating out for lunch, not cooking anything at home, have a satellite TV subscription and streaming apps like Netflix, etc. Tons of shit that any normal person that spent 10 minutes just looking at their bank account and tabulating it for the year would go WTF am I doing?

Landlords aren’t responsible for prices of rent, in fact they lower rent because they increase the supply of available housing and encourage development.

And big companies are not responsible for pollution. Every single pound of CO2 pollution emitted by a big company is only because the customers demand that product. It’s the consumers fault for forcing the company to produce pollutants not the company themselves

Not really, drinks are how most businesses make money. Alcohol and pop especially, but even coffee is extremely cheap to make and can be sold extremely high in comparison, whereas food margins are often tighter. Nicer cafes who uses high quality ingredients and don't skip on cream and whatnot might have tighter coffee margins and bigger food ones, but often it's the drinks.

I usually don't need any stimulants until the afternoon, typically between 3 and 5 pm.
I don't resort to coffee or energy drinks for that matter. I just use caffeine pills. Sometimes, I throw in ephedrine or phenylpiracetam for an extra kick. But I take my caffeine with water. Just plain old boring water. I don't need anything expensive or brewed. If you weren't all such faggots, you would use caffeine pills instead of wasting your money on energy drinks and coffee.

yeah I agree with this, (fast food makes money off soda), but I think coffee is a bit different because the beans are more expensive than the soda syrup. also in fast food if you sit inside you're not going to stay for more than 10 minutes. at a coffee shop you take up a seat for 30 min - 1 hour (even longer if people bring their laptops), then they try to do things like make the seats uncomfortable or make seating limited (starbucks), to try to get you in and out as quickly as possible.

A lot of people quit buying coffee for the same reason, and overpriced food.

I don't know why anyone complains about this, streaming is easily one of the cheapest ways to keep yourself occupied for long periods of time. What's Netflix now, like $20 a month? You can't buy three beers at a bar for less than that, much less do anything active outside or have a productive hobby or something. Like what does anyone expect? Institute wealth taxes, please.

Okay, btw, let me be real about something: we're so poorly regulated right now that shitty arbitrary regulations which "should" foreseeably fuck up the economy would still probably reduce wealth inequality and lead to improvements in human development levels.

Like, I dunno, just absolutely strangle the fuck out of food service establishments with arbitrary dictats. It'll reduce wastage in the economy, improve savings rates, solve problems for people, and contribute to the long-term accumulation of wealth.

We're being ruled by shitty deregulators who are happy to see a massive amount of wastage if it protects the interests of elites who have centralized the economy under their control.

Are all these average people supposed to go home from work and meditate for 5 hours before going to bed?
No, but you can watch youtube for free, all sports and racing are broadcasted online, sports are free online, torrents exist for movies, etc. I spend like $20 a month for my phone, and most of it is just taxes and fees for having the privilege. If you learn how to cook you can use that $5 a day icecream coffee budget to cover your entire budget for food, and actually eat real food.
If you need a car for work, buy the cheapest thing on the market that's reliable and has the cheapest insurance. You can shop insurance between cars just by having a VIN, and those are free, they're literally in every ad.

>be in the market for a car
>car a is 30k, car b is 40k

I mean sure, but you understand that the difference between $20 a month and $0 is very low in the modern day right? $240 a year, $2400 a decade, yes it's more difference than zero, but that's not going to make the difference between affording a house and not affording one. However it might make the difference between whether you go insane or not. And it's not like if you can just watch youtube you can ignore anything else, people need variety too, of which a streaming service can be a cheap part. This isn't some insane gluttonous purchase, it's not gambling at the race track or buying Gucchi, it's a small comfort. And pretending like this one small comfort purchase is the whole reason that people can't afford houses is deceitful and evil, a vicious lie meant to push blame onto powerless people.

It doesn't add up though is my point. A subscription adds up to $240 a year, $2400 a decade, which is not going to make or break affording a home. Even if you double that up it's $480 a year, can you now suddenly afford a home? No, that doesn't even cover closing costs. So you're symbolically skimping on a minor expense to the benefit of almost nothing and at the cost of however many hours the screen can keep you from thinking about how little of your life you're living.

And no, you can't blend in just by pointing and screaming kike whenever someone proves you wrong. I find it hilarious you even tried when you're the one defending landlords and mortgage companies from blame, while I'm defending regular-ass gentiles.

Lets assume I work five days a week. I spend 2.50 on coffee per day. At the end of the week my five coffees add up to 12.50. Over the course of a month I spend 50 dollars on coffee, over a year its 600 dollars.

at that rate it will only take me 588.3 years of not buying coffees to save up for a house. I fail to see the issue, its a completely reasonable way to save for a house. Why isn't everyone doing this?

>>
>>488984193
You're talking about one thing. If you multiply that it starts adding up very quickly. Inflation is a thing, and if you're not invested in the 2020 price market and taking advantage of the tax credits that were offered, then buying a home now is harder, but it's not impossible to save money, and when the market turns, invest it. Investing the S&P over time just once a month beats just about any other investment over time except for tulips and bitcoin, and we saw what happened to the tulips.
We're currently like late 70s when interest rates were going up. Imagine a home loan at 15% being the norm. It was for a while. And a loan on shorter duration for higher risk, like for a business? lol. sweet summer child.

I lived off of $0.29 hamburgers for years and just added my own toppings because it was the cheapest goyslop I could afford at the time to scrape by. That was 10-20 years ago, and saved up as much as I could. You have to look at every angle in how to save money, and most people don't even understand interest, much less compound interest, inflation, etc. I'm a math nerd so that probably helped me a lot, and if you just distrust the government and think from the onset they're all lying to you, then you should be skeptic enough to investigate anything you invest in. It's common sense.

People are lazy, and watching TV is for lazy people. I can afford to be lazy now, but I have that itch in me, always wanting to know more and look around at things, and at the end of the day, if you make generating wealth a game, it's not work, it's just assets you juggle and reshuffle as you adjust your portfolio.

I went out and got an espresso machine. Before I did, I calculated that it would pay for itself after 150-200 days of 4 espresso per day. After that the machine would be metaphorically paid off I would be saving $3.00/day after that while still getting espresso, that included parts and supplies for cleaning and maintenance, and learning about it was like a mini hobby for me so I considered the 1-2 hrs of time spent on a weekend every 3-6 months to be worth it.
It's literally a money saver and an investment and provides healthy hobby value, but my family makes fun of me for wasting my money and tells me that I am living above my means.

Same for nicotine and alcohol. By all means have yourself a drink occasionally but that shit builds up over the years. And similar completely miss the point as usual. In two ways:

1. Housing is unaffordable due to mass trend factors such as inflation, mass migration, outsourcing, monopoly wage suppression, etc. Even if you brought everyone's "coffee and eating out budget" to almost nothing, you'd barely move this needle.

2. Why Starbucks et al so *universally* expensive to begin with? As you point out, these kinds of items should be incredibly cheap. I'm sure you've all seen the pics comparing fast food menus from even a few decades ago to today, with inflation adjustment numbers.

Also, an economy where nobody eats out and nobody buys coffee out would cause a vast swath of the population to become unemployed. I'm not defending these companies as le wonderful job creators, my point is that the "just never eat out" crowd hasn't considered what would happen long term if people really did this.

More points: This guy wants people to stop patronizing the companies that make his 401k line go up, and if they ever actually did that, he'd be on TV screeching about it. Likewise, he'll complain that young people spend too much there, but would also argue that young people should find employment at these same businesses. He'll argue that these jobs shouldn't pay well, but simultaneously complain that the prices they charge for their products are too high.

it's not like the chinks scam, but there is a lot of stuff on the books they hold that is in insurance litigation, and blackrock has a know huge position in real estate for like five years now, people follow them.

Fuck coffee.
I never drank coffee until I got my first fulltime job.
Went from waking up at noon for a 4 hour shift or NEETing, to waking up at 6 a.m. to go work in a factory full of chinks
Started sleeping 6 hours a night, then 5.
Fell asleep standing up and got yelled at so I caved and started drinking coffee.
It was free in the break room. I have NEVER paid for coffee in my life.
After 6 months like this I began to feel numb to reality.
Used to have lucid dreams sometimes.
Ive racked up almost 3000 hours of sleep debt
Imagination doesn't work anymore
Nothing feels real. Nothing matters.
I am not cut out for wagecucking my life is nonviable.
I have ruined myself. I wish coffee didn't exist so I'd gotten fired and never done this.
I have 68k saved for a house but it doesn't matter because every house I can afford has a fucking 458 dollar a month HOA fee.
I destroyed my brain and soul for nothing.
Fuck coffee.

> increase the supply of available housing
No builders increase the supply of housing. If this were true, civilization would have invented landlords before carpenters.
> Every single pound of CO2 pollution emitted by a big company is only because the customers demand that product
Products available, especially those difficult to manufacture, is determined autocratically in a top-down process not subject to popular demand. Nobody "demands" corn syrup and seed oils in food, but companies foist them on people.

coffee prices are fucking ridiculous. I just bought my own completely manual espresso machine that uses no electronics and a grinder and make my own coffee. It's better than the shops coffee and uses good quality milk. Since doing that I don't think I've bought a single coffee. Depending on the beans I use it's something like 1 dollar or less per 2 double shot espressos + milk.

Its kinda a nice ritual in the morning as well that prepares me for the day.

Its more about being actually not stupid vs being responsible. Not even being taught to budget and plan with your money or to have goals --that's not irresponsibility. That is the consequence of negligence in upbringing or education.

One of the easiest ways to budget is to get a safe or a small lockbox and some envelops and write the specific thing being saved up for on those each envelop and the goal amount and how much you intend to put in each one every paycheck..and to not touch any of that money except for the intended objective.

Yes! Wages themselves are a scam. Profit sharing is the only ethical way to hire in most cases. Solves both the grifting by the owners and gives employees a real incentive for the company to do better, since they benefit automatically.
>>
The one thing I hate more than kikes and women are crochety old men who only complain. There are countless businesses with useless nosey foremen who can't even respond to "Good Morning" without their brains short circuiting because every moment of their existence is centered around making complaints. The company could be making 6 trillion dollars in profit and there will always be a codger adding useless distractions where they aren't needed.

It's the avacado toast argument. They are trying to cover the fact that shit is expensive by passing the blame on to you. Yeah not eating out is going to save you money but it's never going to be enough money to actually buy a house. Not only that but it's also telling people that they pretty much can't even reap what they sow. It might sound stupid but people aren't robot slaves, they need entertainment and reward. So if they can't afford something like a trip to Disney land then they go for the next thing they can afford, AKA having someone else make them a meal.

I own my house and I'm in my 30s, but telling guys in their early 20s that they should have been investing 10 years ago is stupid. It's equally stupid to tell people to enjoy zero small luxuries like a meal out when their society is collapsing all around them.

But you likely have a MBA and a carefully curated LinkedIn profile, so you are a subhuman that understand nothing outside of corporate slogans

pure caffeine is slightly toxic. You are poisoning your brain. Caffeine in a coffee is good, because it has thousands of additional compounds, some of which act as nutritional co-factors.
Coffee has been researched to death, it's not unhealthy and could potentially even benefit longevity as long as you don't overdo it and drink large amounts.

For the same reason, decaf should be avoided.
