Vintage ones are much better quality but they’re heavily worn already, so again, you won’t get 15 years out of it. Orvis and L.L. Bean make very similar jackets at cheaper prices. Filson mostly sucks, but their tin cloth material is similar and sometimes cheaper. Billy Reid (fashion brand blending British heritage with Deep South) makes very similar jackets as Barbour in terms of both price and quality. Historically, Belstaff was a popular Barbour alternative. They make motorcycle jackets so it’s a bit less farmer and fisher and a bit more worker biker. There’s also John Partridge and Dubarry. More premium versions are out there but a bit harder to pin down. Private White V.C. sells a really high quality one for a high price.
