It's one of the sicknesses in Alaska. The small villages get all their news from PBS and NPR. In Canada in the Yukon it's the same with Canadian public broadcasting, they just are state media.

The money is laundered through state governments and universities: the US federal government funds state programs and schools that fund affiliate station operators, and the affiliate stations buy most of their syndicated content from NPR.
