I've lived in NH VT and ME. What marketable skills do you have? That will play a big part in whether you like it here or not. If you're a skilled tradesman you'll find a lot of well paying work here, there's also a good bit of industry around the seacoast especially if you're an engineer or have machining experience. Lots of people in southern NH commute to Boston so if you're a tech worker with hybrid or full WFH that's a good option. NH in particular has a surprisingly large amount of actual fiber internet even in rural areas. My town of 1000 people has up to symmetric 4Gb fiber to every house on the main road. The culture here has become a lot more insular though because of the influx of MA, NY, RI, CT, and NJ people moving here. A lot of VT towns in particular are over 70% vacation homes owned by out of staters, so make sure you don't get the wrong impression about an area based on what its like during the tourist season or offseason and be prepared to get treated like an outsider until you've been here awhile and put down roots. There's also a lot more old people than young people, we have a ton of retirees. So dating wise I hope you're either in a committed relationship or willing to date college girls, fortunately there's a ton of colleges here and most of the kids that grow up here attend one before either moving away or getting married.
