Lord of the Rings was always woke
>>
Embarrassing.
>>
In the book its just a poetic jape to fuck with the king, and its actually the hobbit and his special anti-wraith knife who kills him.
>>
tolkein was a cuck
>>
>>534815491
*Peter Jackson
>>
>>534815492
Did Peter Jackson write the book?
>>
>>534815488
Reddit moment
>>
>>534815493
No, but he took liberties with it, like he took with his asleep cousin at the christmas party when they were kids.
>>
>>534815495
You have low test if you never fooled around with your cousin
>>
>>534815488
He was killed by Merry, they were just letting her feel like she did something.
>>
>>534815496
fooling with your cousin, sure, but not while she's asleep, that's just dishonourable behaviour.
>>
you are a cuck if you watch movies
>>
>>534815488
everyone clapped when this happened in 2003 though
>>
>>534815500
Because it was 5 minutes in one film of three which combined are over 17 hours long.
>>
>>534815488

In the book the battle completely destroys her and Merry's bodies and she decides she wants to be a house wife.
>>
>>534815501
Yeah people were getting itchy to leave toward the end and clapped whenever the screen went dark expecting the movie to end, but wait there's more.
>>
>>534815488
He didn't die because she had an extra hole from factory.
He was weakened by the midgets magic dagger, which allowed him to be killed by getting stabbed in the no face.
>>
>>534815488
What's woke about it? She was getting wrecked until Merry stabbed him with a magic dagger. I can't recall a woman ever beating a man in all of TLotR in an actual fight. Seems accurate
>>
>>534815488
FUCK OFF AMAZON.
I DON’T CARE HOW MUCH YOU TRY TO POISON THE WELL AND LOWER THE BAR, I’M NOT WATCHING RANGS.
FUCK OFF.
>>
>>534815488
It's a blatant reference to Macbeth.
>>
>>534815505
>I can't recall a woman ever beating a man in all of TLotR in an actual fight.
That's because you're retarded.

>midgets magic dagger
>>534815505
>until Merry stabbed him with a magic dagger

No mention of the abilities of the dagger was made in the movies, not even the extended editions. They could have simply have said a throwaway line when Merry and Pippin got daggers from Galadriel, but no, Jackson put all the focus on Eowyn and her woman-boss quip defeating the Witch King.
>>
>>534815509
>Galadriel make superweapon
woke
>>
>>534815508
Again, I don't recall any of those beating anyone in TLotR. I know Galadriel beat some people in The Slimarillion, but that's not the discussion. Arwen used magic to foil the wraiths, but that's not beating them in a fight
>>
>>534815488
I thought her free bleeding lazer beams out of her vagina to kill him was a little much
>>
>>534815509
Incorrect. In the movie Merry still stabs him so it's a split focus
>>
>>534815513
An afterthought, played as a mere distraction while womanboss prepares her quip.
>>
>>534815514
Literally the same way in the book. The quip was just to save time from explaining the prophecy
>>
>>534815493
this scene doesn't exist in the book
>>
>>534815488
Women can be brave and defend their countries and families without it being woke. Mulan esque figures have been a thing for thousands of years
>>
>>534815515
>Not stopping the battle for 10 minutes of exposition
And that's where Jackson lost the Japanese shounen audience.
>>
>>534815488
>‘Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!’
>Then Merry heard of all sounds in that hour the strangest. It seemed that Dernhelm laughed, and the clear voice was like the ring of steel. ‘But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund’s daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless!
>>
>>534815490
In the book it’s kept unclear who killed him. It could be Merry’s Westernesse dagger lowering his defences with a stab in a non lethal area, followed by Eowyn stabbing him where his head should be.

Or the dagger could have done all the work, and Eowyn’s stab (which just went into empty space), may not have been needed. Either way, the prophecy is fulfilled. He is not slain by a man.

Another thing the book does far better is have the Witch King declare he can be killed by no man, and Eowyn declare herself a woman before they fight. Even ignoring the way more poetic language in the book, this is still better because it makes the line less of a feminist quip, and more of a warning that the Witch King completely ignores.

This makes him seem both more brave, and also makes it more clear that he was brought down by his hubris. Plus of course, it plays out beat for beat how the concept Tolkien is paying homage to from Shakespeare plays out in Macbeth.

Finally, “begone foul dwimmerlaik lord of carrion” and “do what you will, and I will hinder it, if I may” are just leagues ahead of any lines Jackson ever put to pen.
>>
>>534815520
Based
>>
>>534815519
This line is just so much better. But RotK was just such a quippy movie,
>You and whose army?
>This Army
Really Jackson, really?
>>
>>534815494
>YVH said to Deborah and Barak that only a woman could kill Sissera.
>Jael, a woman, killed Sissera.

this kind of thing.
totally reddit things from the past.
>>
>>534815488
If it was woke, she would say she identifies as a man
>>
>>534815523
She didn't exactly beat him in a fight haha. She waited until he was sleeping and drove a tent stake through his head.
>>
>>534815519
Shit writing, too much jibba-jabba and too much renaissancefairspeak.
>>
>>534815488
I don't know, it fits pretty well into mythology and prophecies. Like an Achilles Heel or Narcissus' curse, etc etc.
>>
>>534815488
This movie changing this line to sound shittier sucks infintely more than the book and the animated versions "For no living man am I", which is actually kino and sounds cool

>ignores all warnings, go to the war in disguise like a chad
>not really that better than anyone, just flaming from witnessing her father die a minute ago
>smart way to avoid prophecy plot armour
>nearly dies in the process, carried by support from another weak character
in the end two weak characters use the oversight in the prophecy, rage power, magic dagger and element of surprise to carry the killing of the super strong evil guy. Who also just killed the fucking king btw. Both nearly dead after this because enemy fucked their on the soul level. Fucking kino. I know you baiting, but still wish you ants in the urethra for messing this with current infallible strong go go girl woman characters who never do anything wrong

>>534815520

This is how I always basically took it. Evil was too confident and arrogant to realize there was a loophole staring it in the face. Not that she was a girlboss, just the right person, in the right place, at the right time.
>>
>>534815488
In the novels he wasn't killed because he encountered a girl boss, he died because Merry struck him with the enchanted dagger from the Barrow Downs
>So passed the sword of the Barrow-downs, work of Westernesse. But glad would he have been to know its fate who wrought it slowly long ago in the North-kingdom when the Dúnedain were young, and chief among their foes was the dread realm of Angmar and its sorcerer king. No other blade, not though mightier hands had wielded it, would have dealt that foe a wound so bitter, cleaving the undead flesh, breaking the spell that knit his unseen sinews to his will.
Jackson slop is soulless
>>
>>534815488
I guess Macbeth is also a joke then.
>>
>>534815509
In the extended edition Merry and Pippin get magic Elvish daggers, that could be enough to kill the Witch King in movie canon. It's not focused on because the specifics of how the Witch King is able to die isn't really that important

I don't even like Two Towers or Return of the King movies but this is a non-issue
>>
If anything, eowyn comes across weaker and more doubtful than in the book. In the movie she's clearly afraid, only kept up with the power of desperation. In the book she has a much more confident and confrontative attitude.

>>
>>534815488
The film was written by a woman. The film intentionally doesn't mention that Merry stabs the Witch-king with a special dagger that breaks the spell holding his physical form together.
>>
>>534815488
Correct. Movies are ALL freemason propaganda.
>>
>>534815488
Imagine not reading the book first
>>
>>534815520
Yes, this is exactly it.
I would only add that in the world of Tolkien, just as in our world, the primary take-away from most people is that the woman killed the King of the Ring Wraiths, when really it was a hobbit (the other sort of "non-man" involved) who at least played a part and may well have been the necessary ingredient.
This fits in with how hobbits are unsung heroes, whose role in history is not usually known or celebrated, or is undervalued.
I'm reminded of how Bilbo's knowledge of Smaug's weakness is what brought the dragon down. But all the glory was going to Bard. Few knew that he got the info from a bird, much less that the bird got the info from a hobbit.

>>534815488
>muh woke
That character's arc ends with her realising that valor in battle is not a goal for itself, but only worth so that your country and people thrive, and retires ... to tend to gardens and grow things, including becoming a mother.
>>
>>534815488
Peter Jackson also gave a million dollars to the west memphis 3 child murderers who raped, tortured, and brutally murdered 3 children
>>
>Faramir gives one of the best monologues in the books
>“For myself,” said Faramir, “I would see the White Tree in flower again in the courts of the kings, and the Silver Crown return, and Minas Tirith in peace: Minas Anor again as of old, tall and fair, beautiful as a queen among other queens: not a mistress of many slaves, nay, not even a kind mistress of willing slaves. War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend: the city of the men of Númenor; and I would have her loved for her memory, her ancientry, her beauty, and her present wisdom. Not feared, save as men may fear the dignity of a man, old and wise.”
>Eowyn hears this and realizes her trying to be a girlboss was a fundamental misunderstanding of what matters and gives it up for a life of managing a fief, growing a garden and becoming a mother
Woke?
