While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about AEW Grand Slam selling over 2,000 tickets within just a few days. He suggested that AEW might have given away a lot of complimentary tickets, expressing some skepticism about how many of the recent sales were actually paid for. He noted that while there were over 8,000 people in attendance, the sudden surge in ticket sales raised questions about the actual paid attendance.

>“I don’t know how much paid was. When you get three thousand in the last couple of days, you know what I mean? That’s a lot. It was over eight thousand in the building though.”

If Dave "doesn't know" then he should keep his fucking rat mouth shut and not recklessly speculate like this. It's bad faith criticism and it poisons the well. Mercedes Mone and TOny Khan did a ton of local media and moved a lot of tickets. Mone was on WFAN sports radio (#1 sports talk radio in the US) and The Breakfast Club with Charlemagne Tha God, which is the #1 hip-hop radio show in the US.

>In 2021, WFAN in New York was one of the highest earning radio stations, earning $41 million. WFAN is a sports radio station that broadcasts 24/7, providing news and commentary on live games. It's one of the biggest sports stations in the world, with many sports fans tuning in who can't watch the game on TV

This thread is about Tony comping 1000’s of tickets. The source is AEW super fan, Dave Meltzer.

>Meltzer is right when he reinforces muh narrative
>>
>>15913294
The same thing happened at all out but he credited it to a massive surge in late interest for the show. I wonder what changed. Tony has always papered the shit out of his bigger shows to try and pop a wrestletix number. Dave just reporting the wrestletix number here as a straight up fact shows why.
>>
Not a good look! Even the 1 aew fan left can’t even come up with a good defense for this poor showing
