I thought that last night’s show was a good example of why viewership and attendance have been dropping at an alarming rate. We had heatless dream matches, marquee matches featuring people who never win, matches featuring people who were stars coming into AEW, but who have cooled down because of poor booking, and several promising angles that are being hurt because of the lack of proper build.

They just love seeing x vs. y and the match being flippy. Obviously that's a very select niche of the fandom, but for them, AEW is consistently delivering.That said, I feel the same way you do 100%. These aren't sports contests, a la MMA so a good chunk of the art of pro wrestling falls to writing as well as performing. And I want a reason to get invested in these contests. I like a TON of these wrestlers and it honestly sucks that I don't care about what they're doing, because all they're doing is a match.
