Do you regret not becoming a wrestler? Now that we live in an era where 5'6" vanilla midgets that look like they've never seen the inside of a gym get paid six figures to tank the ratings weekly? What was stopping you if Daniel Garcia can?
>>16182508I don't like the idea of someone else's life being in my hands or my life in someone else's.
It's been a fantasy of mine, but also you gotta know your role/know your limits. Even if I kept my current short height but was more fit, I wouldn't really believe in myself because I wouldn't be my idealized vision. Pride is a sin, shame is not.
>>16182508Yes, kinda. Like I don't really like rubbing against sweaty men myself or taking them thousands of bumps to get there, I enjoy the story of wrestling and watching it more than performing, I'd probably have consider it as valid option to get into the biz if I'd known how the standards would come down in just a decade just to get the foot in the door through it.
>>16182508I basically have Eddie Kingston's body and I'm 6' tall, I could probably get signed by Tony if I learn to cut a promo
>>16182508no, because unless you're untouchable, promoters will treat you like a prostitute
>>16182508I got saddled with a Diff’rent Strokes gimmick off the rip. In retrospect it was probably a rib on me but I hated it.
>>16182508Look man those 'vanilla midgets' do NOT look like guys off the street, regardless of any hyperbolic point you want to make.I also think size queens missed the era where the biggest draws in combat sports were a 155 pound Irishman and a 135 pound woman
>>16182853>do NOT look like guys off the street
>>16182853?
>>16182871>>16182882The term vanilla midget was coined for Guerrero, Malenko and Benoit, newfriends.First used by /pw/ favourite Kevin Nash, actually.
>>16182885Yeah its honestly an insult to the term Vanilla midgets to use it on modern wrestlers.
>>16182885And what does that have to do with the OP that points out we live in an era where people like this are paid six figures
>>16182508I honestly do regret it. Sometime back around 2008 a friend and I were in the gym and he had some connects at WWE. He pushed me to tryout but in my mind I wasn’t big enough being a casual 6’0” gym rat working full-time and I didn’t want to get on juice. Now anyone who’s ever looked at a barbell looks like Scott Steiner next to these fags. I guess I didn’t have the foresight, but even still I’d be embarrassed to go on TV looking like Garcia or Smol.
>>16182891That's a shit example because half those old school wrestlers looked more like Eddie Kingston than Brock LesnarCornettecucks I swear to fucking god man
>>16182508i'm 6'6" and built yet I have zero regrets about not becoming a pro wrestler despite having the physical tools that have traditionally been desirable in the profession. I am now 43 and am ambulatory which would probably not be the case if I pursued a pro wrestling career.
>>16183097Yeah I kinda enjoy not having constant crippling pain
if you've been to a local bingo hall fed show, you'd see how depressing it would be to do the indy grind, sawdusting yourself to an audience white trash miscreants (but not me)
>>16183150quite, for a fake sport it doesnt half take it's toll on the participants!
>>16182508I make pretty good money sleeping in till 10 and being home by 2 4 days a week working marks called contractors. All of it works because 100% of it was on me. If i was on the indies, some fat shitter or deathmatch faggot could have fucked me up for life on complete accident before i ever hit my prime. If nxt was a thing i might have tried, but words cant really describe how fast wrestling got gay as hell, either
I’d rather be a booker, the scheduling and damage that being in the ring does to your body seems like Hell to me.
>>16182853Bullshit. The average person is fat. But you can find guys with much better physiques at any gym or playing any sport at a rec center. I lift weights 4 times per week and I look a lot bigger and more toned than Daniel Garcia. Does Garcia even lift? It is part of his job. I work a desk job.
>>16183045How many top guys looked like him?
>>16183045>half those old school wrestlers looked more like Eddie KingstonNot the ones in the main event. They didn't look like Brock either, but they were thick and well-built, not flabby fat guys.
>>16183706>not the ones in the main event
>>16183045Nigga no one gives a shit what wrestlers looked like in the era of "Big" Billy Bob fighting "the Cousinfucker" Ed Farmer at the local Alabama Bingo Hall that Cornette talks about, we're talking about wrestling when people actually watched it
>>16183711Jerry Lawler was in much better shape than Eddie Kingston. Are you blind, anon?
>>16183711Compare your image and this one >>16183723 to Eddie here >>16183666.If you can't spot the difference, you need to get your eyes checked.
>>16182508No, I know my place. I don't want to be part of the problem.
>>16183730why not compare it to this image
>>16183730or this from Eddie where he is less sloppy?
>>16183742Anon, Eddie is clearly out of shape with a huge fat guy. Even at his fattest, Jerry still looked a lot more athletic than Kingston. Jerry looks like a big athletic guy that is carrying around some extra weight. Eddie just looks like a big fat slob. Are you projecting because you look like Eddie?
>>16183773*Huge fat gut
>>16182508I'm 6'2, workout, and spend my spare time here. So yeah. Could've been the joshi slayer and/or overpaid by TK
It's not worth it unless you're truly autistic about pro wrestling and love doing it, not just watching it from the comfort of your couch. Your match lasts anywhere between 5-20 minutes, and the rest of the night you're expected to hang out in the back with a bunch of insufferable fags and tear the ring down after the show. And then when that's done you get to drive 2-5 hours home, oftentimes sharing a ride with the aforementioned insufferable fags.
>>16182508I just wanted an entrance.
>>16182508Is there really a chance that someone from /pw/ could've been the next Hogan or Cena but chose not to be a wrestler?
>>16185045Yeah, me
>>16183922This is the truth.
>>16183922Well put anon. Checked.
>>16183922This is the main reason. I will probably try to have a couple indy matches for shits and giggles at some point.
>>16182508i tell people if i was like 6'5" i would have tried for it. good cardio and toughness when it comes to taking bumps. but i have too much respect for the business to pretend that anyone my height would be taken seriously outside of shitty indie promotions. My dad has the buff manlet body type that guys like Eddie were able to make work but I'm taller and a lot leaner
>>16186436If you're tall with a good frame (like Drew), you need to fill it out. Bigger is better than leaner in most cases but don't get fat. If you're tall with an absurd frame (like Vader), it's almost always better to be over 20% bodyfat, really bulks you up even more.If you're tall without a big frame, find other means of employment. If you're taller than average with a good or great frame, getting big is paramount, you can go either way with how fat you are. If you're taller than average without a big frame, I hope you know people in the business because you ain't nowhere unless you try your hardest to pack on muscle. If you're average with a good frame, you want to be as big as possible of course, but be leaner to emphasize the muscle. If you're average with a absurd frame (like Otis), get fat jacked. If you're average with a average frame, go to AEW. If you're short with a poor frame, go to AEW.If you're short with a good, great, or absurd frame, being lean is probably the most important thing in your life.Indie shitters don't get this, which is why they break their bodies in empty bingo halls for a hotdog and a handshake!
>>16186591What if I’m PAC?
>>16186615What if I’m a short dude who takes steroids
>>16186617The only reason Eddie G, Benoit, and even Dean fucking Malenko ever got to main event is because they were roided to the gills.
