>tony has never been able to book
>flippy midgets are not a draw
>heatless bangers are not a draw

in addition to the endless run ins, the endless beat downs, the endless factions, the endless trios matches, the endless 20 minute squash matches

When Punk quit

/thread
>>
>>16265557
the matches are unironically too long most of the time and Tony seems to book all the dimeless shitters on Dynamite anyway
no one needs to see a 15+ minute match of Orange Cassidy or another trios match you've seen before because they barely have any trios teams
>>
One thing that I can't help but notice is Tony sucks at elevating any "AEW homegrown" talents. Darby, Sammy, Jack Perry, and MJF are supposed to be the future of AEW according to Tony but you never get that vibe from any of them because of how Tony books.
>>
>>16265535
When Tony hired Phil and subsequently bought out every NXT/WWE cast off it gave the perception that AEW was the place people who couldn't make it in the Fed went. This was the start.

When Tony got cocky and tried to use AEW to revive the dead ROH brand I personally lost all interest. I remember tuning in to a Rampage once and it had 2 ROH matches, a NJPW match and a AAA Luchashitter match. It was at that point I realised that AEW wasn't for me anymore. I wanted a super indie with some NJPW talent peppered in. Tony transitioned AEW to be Diet Coke WWE over the course of 2022 and by 2023 it was flat Diet Coke.
>>
>>16265535
aew has been a thing for 5 years, how many wrestlers are bigger stars now than before they joined aew
>>
>>16265557
I feel like when he froze out Jericho and the Elite the booking nosedived. AEW booking was at its peak from 2020 to 2021, in 2022 it became clear that he wasn't listening to Jericho and the Elite anymore and taking more from CM Phil, who only knows how to book squash matches leading to mediocre PPV matches - something that hasn't worked since the 80s.
>>
>>16265584
That’s because none of them get any real storylines instead they’re having heatless bangerinos with low card guys just like everyone at the top of the card does

Your job guys should not be going 10+ minutes in a 50-50 or 60-40 match with your top guys, it just makes them all look bad
>>
>>16265584
By how Tony books you mean how any new toy from WWE gets to go over the homegrown guys in heatless bangarinos right? Hell he's done it like 12 times this year.
>>
>>16265604
>>16265606
>heatless bangerinos
Legit can't believe Swerve was booked like an unstoppable machine for 5 months and no sold multiple finishers from Hanger and Danielson, then he's having competitive matches with Main Event's Shelton Benjamin and Lio fucking Rush - a guy that fucking Kommander just beat in 7 minutes.

they unironically need to get a clue and at least mix something up more with their looks - and by that I mean get on the fucking gear you midgets
only MJF has somewhat of a clue
and Darby but he doesn't need roids, he would look retarded if he was buff
Perry's gimmick change would be somewhat interesting if he still didn't look like a twink
Garcia and Yuter are lost causes imo but Yuter definitely needs not to speak until he goes through voice mutation
Private party can fuck off

also AEW suffers greatly from booking ROH shitters. ROH has some people who could be a good fit for Dynamite but most should not be on tv at all
>>
>>16265610
Yeah, the powerlevel hierarchy makes no sense in AEW. I legit got mad when I saw OC beat that Iron Savages dude in like 30 seconds comparing their sizes and all
>>
>>16265535
When dimeless EVPs brought in a clueless money mark to try to run a business, is my guess.
>>
>>16265626
I'm okay with OC because he's got a bit of a booking history of picking up wins using his size and quickness.

Swerve and Lio Rush going 8 minutes was absolutely insane to me.
>>
>>16265651
it seems like Tony is trying to make a Lio push happen. inb4 this nigga says he retires again
>>
>>16265626
There is absolutely no semblance of power levels in AEW. Anybody can go 10+ minutes with anybody. It’s like they’re going in the exact opposite direction of squash matches because they think people don’t like those.

Another problem this raises is that the three midcard belts they have have absolutely no sense of distinction, they’re just a blob. What makes the TNT title different than the international title?
>>
>>16265535
brawl out and the way it was handled afterwards completely killed the momentum of the company
people forget how red hot AEW was up until that point

Going to 3 or more shows or whatever they had. They could’ve been strategic in their signings but they just signed anyone they could and never let them go if they sucked.
>>
AEW is a vanity project for a billionaire’s fail son. Tony is having fun so AEW is a success.
>>
>>16265860
Keeps him away from the real money spinners
>>
Their problems are too big to count.
They have have a bad booker, their live events are poorly planned and executed, and their roster is completed untalented and unmotivated.
For AEW to have been a success Tony would have to been just the money guy, but even then I don’t know if there’s 20+ tv ready wrestlers available in 2019 and I really don’t know who he could bring in as a booker. So he would have also had to have started aew at least a decade earlier so he could at least have some talent that can work.

People want to
Blame ex wwe guys but they’re the only ones who can draw some dimes.
>>
>>16265967
Of course it isn't. Who the fuck would think that?

>>16265971
I remember it was supposed to be 200M a year for everything exclusive and they got 185 for a portion. Seems good to me.

>>
>>16265535
Tony hates AEW and just wants to be WWE, that is the problem, so he took everything the fans loved, put it in the bin, and gave us WWE 2.0 instead.
>>
>>16265535
AEW went wrong when Tony said to himself, "Does playing a lot of TEW and listening to Dave Meltzer qualify me for running a wrestling promotion? Yes, I'm sure it does". Sadly, however, it didn't.
>>
>>16266650
I love TEW, i get a kick out of bankrupting AEW. then I start all over again.

>The worst decision Tony made was buying ROH.
It added a bunch of people to an already bloated roster. The actual shift happened with the ROH purchase. Guys like Wardlow, Ethan Page and Miro got frozen out for shitters like Dalton Castle and Shane Taylor. The CM Punk drama and his penchant for signing every ex WWE or New Japan talent that was willing to talk to him was bad too. Guys like Keith Lee and Adam Cole got out of shape in AEW because they have no standards. At least they looked like athletes when they were in NXT.
>>
Brawl Out.
>>
>>16265995
Garcia isn't the most offensive guy on the roster but nothing he does really works for me. He wrestles competently enough but he doesn't have the look or gimmick. I feel like Garcia might become something someday but only if he gets outside of AEW.
