I agree, Misawa's strength was never in his selling (though he is extremely good at it). There's a sell in Kawada's second match against Williams from '94 that I like almost as much as Kobashi's headless chicken backdrop driver sell. That's about as high as the bar gets.

Kawada sold even the simpler stuff like death. I recall a match between Kawada and Tenzan in 1999 or 2000. They trade chops back and forth until Tenzan just rears back and casually headbutts Kawada. Kawada just slowly dropped to a knee and casually lays down on his back like he was legit knocked out by the headbutt. The referee pulls Tenzan back to give Kawada space. It looked like a real reaction. I have never seen a sell like that before.
