Wow, unmatched wisdom from the guy in Thunder in Paradise.
>>
>>16281967
Lies? None whatsoever
>>
>>16281967
It was 100% by design by guys like vince and others so they can slot in whatever brown tatted up trash as champ and idiots just accept it. No one can be bigger than the fed they are in. It makes "sense" from a business decision short term but it sure isn't going to hold an audience long term.
>>
>>16281999
I'm checking this post but thunder in paradise ruled you fucking nerd
>>
The hulkster knows more about pro wrestling than meltzer, SRS and every other smark alive combined
>>
>>16282080
He's forgotten more than meltzer ever knew.

When I said this about Roman people got mad and called me a smark
>>
Based hulkster tells no lies.
The wwe went downhill the moment guys like cena showed up. It's gotten worse since then and now today it's just bland generic wrestler A vs B
>>
>>16281967
I think even the biggest smarks agree with this take. They like blaming it on le evil Vince
>>
>>16282151
Hulk Hogan is one of the most successful professional wrestlers in the history of the world. He actually knows things. You've never done shit and you don't know fuck all. You are a retarded smark.
>>
>>16282160
But I knew this before the Hulkster told you what to think
>>
>>16282168
you don't know anything, actually
>>
>>16282160
Whish he would've taught and trained people instead of being a selfish boomer. Think how better off we'd be if Hulk, Brett, Roddy, Jake, Hall, and other top guys from 80's onwards, train guys

I mean, yeah? But I don't blame Vince for shifting from putting all your eggs in one basket to making the brand the draw. Granted Austin got hurt and from SummerSlam 97 onwards the clock was ticking on his career, Rock got big then fucked off to Hollywood, Brock was going to be the next face of the company, hated the grind and fucked off to try out for the NFL then went into MMA. Cena I give props to for staying around a lot longer than he needed too.
>>
>>16282181
Bloody Benchod!!!!
>>
>>16282182
Roman lacks the charisma of a Rock or Cena, he'll get bit parts but jumping to a full time movie career isn't in the picture. Plus he misses a ton of shows already, and has for years now and it doesn't hurt business.
>>
>>16282182
You can even throw in Lashley from his first run, who Vince was clearly building up to be a face of the company type. He left too.
>>
>>16281967
WWE killed itself and it’s roster by promoting a part time spectacle act in Brock for a decade which now means nothing because they can’t even name him ever again.
Then there’s Roman who was such a part time spectacle act, he got to miss big 4 PPVs.
Literally what the fuck is this boomer talking about?
WWE has always focused on putting all their eggs in one basket for almost the last 20 years. In the last 13-14, they made sure that a world title went to these spectacle acts who would barely be on the show.
>>
>>16282254
He's talking about actually pushing/recruiting wrestlers that have the it factor instead of the way there recruiting and training now. They're over looking over the Hogans and Andres of the world in favor of people who succeed in there developmental system. Basically focus on larger than life personalities and looks and who cares if they can't wrestle to a certain standard, having a roster of varying good and crappy wrestlers doesn't mean shit when your raking in the dimes brother.
>>
the women all wear the exact same gear and it's obviously all done by the same person.
it's just another thing that makes it all look like a show, a production, instead of a real sport.
i find it annoying that we're not supposed to notice all cookie cutter it all is.
>>
Hulk speaks the truth. But I see it more in AEW, than WWE. Believe it or not, but the indy scene produced a lot of copycats and clones as well.

Kevin Owens is probably the last indy star to really stand out on his own.
>>
all the men and women are from an assembly line, none of them stand out so they are easily replaced.
hulk's right. it's been this way for a while, hard not to notice.

>the big difference between back in my day and today, is that today is homogenised slop made with replaceable parts
Big whoop.
Welcome to 2008.

The core of that problem (developmental) is that they're actively selecting professional athletes or college-level athletes who have a certain build and work ethic.
They're not selecting for outcast NEETs with a fuck-you attitude trying to make money anymore, nor are they looking for dadbods or other shoot tough guys.
They want sparkly acrobats and football players who are a good fit in the locker room and know how to obey the coach instead of having an individual opinion.
With all the love for Maxxine Dupri, she's the perfect case in point. That girl is a model-esque cheerleader by trade who transitioned into pro wrestling to be a manager, and someone got the bright idea to try and make her wrestle.
Maybe that was a rib, maybe that was a bit of a giggle. Maybe it was part of the plan to take athletes from other sports and mould them into the shape the WWE wants.
And in her case, despite being sexy lady and hot and flexible, she's been atrocious in the ring more than she's been decent. At least she's leaning towards decent now.

TL;DR: the WWE are tunnelvisioning on 1 type of performer when they should be keeping their eyes open for anyone that looks anywhere near a draw of any kind.

The carnival/circus aspects are gone from wrestling, and that’s the problem with the business these days.
>>
He's right but think about the names he said and what happened with them. Andre fucking died from just being too big. Austin's neck break stalled a lot of things. Rock left for Hollywood and torpedoed plans. Hogan also left for Hollywood and eventually for WCW when Hulkamania was beginning to wear thin. Trying to recruit a guy with the it factor, for people to come in and watch the show just for them has the possibility to end badly if they get injured and can't show up. Even then if they don't get hurt you can still run into the problem of them politicking to keep younger guys from coming up.

I often wonder about the Vince/Andre relationship. They were almost the same age too. I mean, the story goes that Vince let Andre live with him to rehab before WM3, so they must've been pretty close. But during the HBO Andre doc Vince admits they had a falling out because Vince basically got rid of him afterwards. Andre was a Vince Sr. guy too. Probably one of the most fascinating, lesser talked about relationships in wrestling.

André wasn't a quitter, even though his body was.
It's why he was still in the ring until maybe a week before he died. André wasn't gonna let his bad health stop him.
Wrestling was his life. Without it, he wasn't living.
Vince didn't wanna help André with that and André took it personally.
