I think the Iyo was the final nail in their coffin. There was this narrative that she was supposedly the best and super popular joshi, so people were hyped when she was announced for Summer Destiny, but when they failed to sell out a small bingo hall any and all illusions of Marigold being a serious competitor and alternative to Stardom were shattered. It's even worse because they weren't even remotely close to selling out that venue, so both Marigold and Iyo sadly never recovered.
