Honestly, Sting owes Darby a lot. If it wasn't for Darby almost killing himself through glass, no one would remember a second of Sting's last match
I guess it's fitting seeing how the Young Bucks are now first ballot Observer hall of famers and it took Sting awhile with Meltzer arguing against him at times.

I think it was sweet of Sting to want to use his last few matches to put more of a focus on Darby than on himself but Darby really didn't need it. Not to mention all of this time Darby's had Sting for a mentor and yet it hasn't got Darby the belt or anything.

It would've felt rushed and forced if they tried to attach him to someone else leading into his last match. Following through on the Darby pairing was the right move since they had their alliance established for years and years at that point and the connection with fans was there
