Ever since he started there has been an marked decrease in the overall portrayal of talent of color. Now a plethora of these brothers have joined AEW. What can be done to remedy this?
>>
>>16311276
Ugh, why are one of you people on my board?
>>
Idk if there ever has been a black wrestler that deserved to be the face of the company and have a long title run.
>>
>>16311276
They're all dimeless except for Oba Femi. He's in line for a push once he moves up to the main roster though.
>>
>>16311311
I like trick too. I think they could b future champs.
>>
>>16311307
The obvious answer is the Rock, who was and is a big star. But aside from him:

>Junkyard Dog
but that was back when he was in Mid-South in the early 80s. JYD is inarguably the most popular black wrestler ever aside from the Rock. Maybe even counting the Rock if you only look at the New Orleans area. But when he went to WWF, Hogan was in his prime and no one could compete with that. JYD went hard on the coke and whores and destroyed his body. By the time he went to WCW, it was long since over for him.

>Booker T
Very talented both in the ring and on the mic, and he oozed charisma. It was too early in WCW with all the established talent there, and by the time he got a main event push WCW was already in laughing stock mode. Over in WWF, Booker established himself early on and had a lot of momentum. But he got buried by Triple H in their feud and that was that. The King Booker run, while a lot of fun, was basically one big rib and he was a heel anyway. Booker was never taken seriously after that.

But that's the entire list. Ron Simmons was over but never enough to be the face of a company. His WCW world title run was a flop. For today, Oba Femi is the best shot at a dominant black champion, when he moves up. Guys like Kofi, Big E, even R-Truth are comedy guys and can't be taken seriously. Kofi's WWE title run was abysmal and ruined its prestige for some time. Montez, Carmelo, and Trick are all working variations on the same gimmick, and while they are athletic, they don't stand out at all. They're all mid.
>>
>>16311354
trick is nothing like melo or montez because he's a talker first. he's not an in ring workrate guy like the other two, he's a blaxploitation wisecracking babyface not a fake hood nigga like the other two
>>
>>16311276
It's just black dudes who don't get pushed. Kofi and Big E fucked it up for all of them
>>
>>16311354
Rock doesn't count because he never talks about being part black. It's always about being samoan
>>
>>16311307
Swerve. The Rock. Booker T.

To name a few
>>
>>16311300
>You people
>My board
Not sure you know how this works my guy.
>>
>>16311294
We don't use that word here, Nasty work.
>>
>>16311666
Rocks not black black. He's Samoan & black. Booker was never face of the company over. Swerve? He's in aew and will never get over with tony as the booker. Vince would have made bobby lashley a star.
>>
>>16311276
There's been dozens of ethnic minority champions during the last year
>>
>>16311354
Jyd was talented but a drug addict. So that's a "no" for jyd. If Booker was big time over wcw wouldn't have gone out of business.

Nothing needs to be remedied here, brother.

>>16311307
Maybe not a "long" title run, but what about R-Truth, the honorary white?
>>
>>16311829
Only time R-Truth really had a chance at the world title was when he was a schizophrenic in 2011. Even then, there were so many bigger stars at the time
>>
>>16311366
I agree. Kofi’s run felt forced and more like the title was carrying him rather than the other way around, which is why he never got pushed again. Big E just came off like a clown who couldn’t be taken seriously, and it was embarrassing having him hold the strap. He sucked.
>>
>>16311963
If only we could have had nazi moxley against Kofi x.
>>
>>16311666
Swerve? I'm gonna level with you, Booker is not even on Rocks level and Swerve is levels below Booker. You guys are delusional.
>>
>>16312378
The only show swerve could main event is cops.
>>
>>16312378
If it's just "ability to be on top of a company" and not just WWE, then I think Swerve fits the bill. He just got the world title too soon in AEW

1. Any black people who could be dimes wrestlers don’t because there’s so many more avenues to make money without sawdusting yourself, with that being said

2. Triple H is unironically racist and doesn’t understand black people nor does he care too unless he can exploit them to fill his pockets like getting all these rappers and basketball players to appear on raw and smackdown, Vince was racist in the old fashion “niggers amiright??” dirty south kind of way, he’s had black friends in his life, Triple H is one of those snobby white supremacist eugenics types and sees black people as genuinely inferior to whites, he’s never had a black friend- ever.

3. Black people pretty much dominate all the other sports and people don’t want to see them dominate a fictional one too if they’re given the choice

If a black wrestler wants to get over in Triple H’s nazi regime WWE they’ll have to SERIOUSLY think outside the box with their gimmick, Velveteen Dream is Paul’s ideal black wrestler so use that as a baseline, none of that “yeah I’m a real nigga yo yeah yeah” shit is gonna work

>WWE doesn't know how to do [x] therefore [x] sucks

We are 40 days removed from 2025 and there are still marks who believe this.
>>
>>16312378
I grew up watching Nitro.

Swerve > Booker
>>
>>16311809
So Barack Obama is not black by your standards then lil bro bro. White people constantly remind me that he is (while using pejorative language)
>>
>>16311871
Ron Killings was TNA champion and he showed that he could be the face of a company. He's actually dimes.
>>
>>16311679
Fuck you.
>>
>>16313286
Calm down, Cletus.
>>
>>16311825
Sounds like something a racist would say.

Why the hostility my brother in Christ? I just want to see a wrestling show with equality of opportunities.
>>
>>16311820
>There's been dozens of ethnic minority champions
I'm specifically referring to African Americans. Not the horde of Samoans
>>
>>16311276
>What can be done to remedy this
hire more white women
>>
>>16313270
You're seething bc rock & obama are mixed race? We're talking about which 100% slave dependent kfc luving nigz can be the champ champ. So we gotta point out nuance.
>>
>>16314336
Are the "kfc luving nigz" in the room with us right now? Because I mostly see obese white boomers at my local KFC chains.

I was mainly pointing out that you cant have it both ways. You can say "muh Rock is mixed!" and then turn around and say "Obama is a black muslim from Kenya!!1!"
>>
>>16312378
>Swerve is levels below Booker.
False on so many levels I don't even know where to begin
