I fucking hate okadas and most people who are diehard fans of his. Same with AEW so I am personally happy he left NJPW because he was my least favorite person in all of NJPW. He could have had comparable wages at WWE but at WWE he would also have access to money from a pre-established worldwide merchandising machine who pays residuals for appearances well after the contract ends, as well as being a worldwide TV star. WWE is broadcast in over 60 countries.
There's a reason that guys who spent one year in WWE 10 years are still earning a decent living at conventions or indies. Hell, the Headbangers still earn a decent living and they were a midcard team a quarter of a century ago. Once you've been in WWE, if you can be a midcard or above talent which Okada would be, you'd be set for life. Tony pays a fantastic wage for the contracted years. WWE pays a great wage for thr contracted years and a good wage for the rest of your life. Eric Bischoff who wasn't even a manager let alone an inring talent still gets an itemised merchandise print out with thousands of items on it relating to his character every quarter and a check paying him on it.
It's why AJ and other old guys go to WWE. You can do the indieriffic stuff but when you want to secure the bag for life, you go to WWE
