We've heard every interesting thing about old wrestling. Nobody who podcasts or does shoots has anything new to say. It's over.
>>
Vince probably has incredible stories but he will go to the grave with them
>>
There are tons of stories, they just don't get asked for and convos don't usually lead to them because they aren't as well known. When Cornette explained how WWWF conditioned fans not to riot or attack wrestlers etc. I had never heard anything on that topic ever
>>
>>16719497
Hey i never heard about that, can you explain a little more or tell me where to listen to him talk about it?
>>
>>16719336
This is false. During the cornette spot about the Punk towell thing, he talked about that spot and gave some examples including a specific one from the 1970's. That guys memory is fucking insane.
>>
>>16719348
a 3 hour tell-all shoot interview with Vince would probably be the greatest piece of wrestling media ever produced
>>
>>16719731
Imagine hearing Vince's side of the story about driving through a construction site at 80 mph with JR shitting himself in the passenger seat before getting pulled over by the cops
>>
>>16719505
Pardon the late response, I tried to look for the clip but I think it may have been in the middle of an unrelated topic. Basically he explains how Vince Sr. structured shows and the events on them to reduce heat from crowds when heels went over and never end shows with huge heat and to have hometown guys or ethnic guys not go on last and lose with big heat and just end it there. It was more complicated than that, but listening to it, he really explained the reasoning of why WWE book the cards the way they do to this day.
>>16719585
Yeah, that was good, there are tons of little things like that, or him explaining what was happening when LA Knight raised Cena's hand.
>>
>>16719746
Just hearing simple stuff like his honest explanation of the HBK Bret pushes, the initial Roman push, etc. would be so good.
>>
Did Cornette ever write a book with all his knowledge?
>>
>>16720095
He has a couple of what I would call ghost written books with Mark James, one about merchandising in the territory days and one about Louisville. There's also a graphic novel adaptation of various stories, but that's not really a book.
>>
>>16719336
You guys can make fun or whatever but Dutch Mantel and his host James said that they were going to interview Kurt Angle about his time in TNA. Dutch was in TNA writing the same time Kurt was. No one talks about TNA and no one dives deep into the good stuff. I was so excited to finally hear two guys at the top discuss their time in that company.
They released the episode and it's literally the same exact fucking interview with the same exact questions that people have been asking Angle for years. Seriously look at this discussion
>Dutch and Kurt talk about his Amateur wrestling career and his gold medal win at the 1996 Games in Atlanta, his transition to WWE and some of the trails and tribulations of breaking in as an established athlete and how he became so good so quickly. Kurt also talks about shoot wrestling Brock Lesnar, his love hate relationship with the late Eddie Guerrero and why Vince McMahon told Kurt to take his best shot at the boss.

THIS IS WHAT DENISE SALCEDO would ask. Pathetic. I'm never listening to another wrestling podcast again. waste of time.
>>
>>16719336
Honky Tonk Man would be a very entertaining and insightful podcast
>>
>>16719336
Orton's the last one who may shoot when he's done
>>
Was always hoping Taker would write a tell-all book once he's retired
>>
>>16721680
>mmmmmmm
>>
>>16720054
this is also why a lot of people thought it was so idiotic for WCW to have planted “fans” rush the ring, because it encouraged real marks to start doing it
>>
>>16719336
Old wrestling is like 2004 now and no we haven't heard everything about the RA because 60% of the survivors still wrestle
>>
>>16719731
Meh bruce Pritchard essentially does that for the booking side
>>
>>16721680
Mmm, gotta subscribe to the patreon brother
>>
>>16720060
The most interesting thing to look into in wrestling is the down periods (particularly right before a boom or uptick). Picrel us the first in a trilogy about wwf 95-97. 97 is easily my favorite year in wrestling, the machinations of the fed during the downturn and what lead 97 and 98 make the 95/96 reads the best part

Haku killed a dozen cops brother
>>
>>16719585
My memory is insane too if I’m just making shit up to try and stay relevant
>>
>>16719731
I just wanna know if he fucked Steph or not.
We all know he did but I want to hear it from him.

>We've heard every interesting thing about old wrestling.
when you get right down to it there really isnt anything that interesting to talk about. most of this stuff happened so long ago and the wrestlers that are alive are so elderly they probably dont remember the stuff correctly anyway
>>16720636
one guy that i was interesting in knowing about/hearing from was nailz. well he finally resurfaced after not being seen or heard from in almost 30 years looking really good. but about 10 minutes into his interview i gave up. the dude was sooo boring. he is so boring to hear talk and he mostly talked about his job after he retired from wrestling which is renting storage trailers
>>
>>16719336
the best shoots I remember were this one dude on Wrestling Classics who interviewed guys with decades long careers in the territory days that nobody else really talked to. Gary something or other was the interviewer's name I think, he ran a gold resale business called 57Gold and hosted the interviews on his site to download. They're long gone now I wish I had kept them. Also some jobbers from like Mid-South/Crockett. Shit was based.

>>16719336
I was watching this match last week and when did Ric get concussed/winded? He was fucked before the planned superplex

Will vince ever do a shoot interview or tell all book?
>>
>>16726908
Maybe? Not any time soon with how much irl heat he has.
>>
>>16726908
the dream shoot interview is Dave Meltzer interviewing Vince one on one for 6 hours with the rule that Vince is not allowed to prematurely conclude the interview.
like dave or hate dave, he is the right guy for it. anyone else would be a disappointment and would squander the opportunity.
>>
>>16726923
Nah, Bob Costas
>>
>>16726923
Sean Oliver would do a good job too actually

There are a million stories we'll never hear because you can't share stories with nuwrestling fans because they scream and shit every time someone gets outed as "not a noice goyyyy"
>>
>>16719336
I've been saying this for years. Talking about old wrestling is fucking boring. It happened 40 years ago and autists spent exactly these 40 years talking about that shit.
How long do you want to keep going?
>>
>>16727135
talking about new wrestling is boring. it's boring just watching it.
the podcast stuff is going to die out soon enough anyway. just like the shoot interview dvd industry did a decade ago.
and it won't be replaced by anything because no one cares all that much about modern wrestling, they can't be bothered to watch it as it's happening now why would anyone give a fuck about it years from now?
>>
there's hardly even been any interesting behind the scenes wrestling stories that took place in this century.
that's why all the good shoots and podcasts are with oldtimers. nobody cares about the 2000s or anything after that. the benoit stuff has been talked about more than enough. the vince debacle is the only other interesting story and we won't know the full story behind that and it still involves vince another old guy
