With a regular piledriver you have more time to protect yourself and it's a lot easier to tell how you're going to land and less momentum. With a destroyer you are literally doing a backflip and landing in a spike bump. It's harder to tell how you will land, easier for your or your opponents grips to slip and there's more momentum going on your head. You're not supposed to land in your head and Gable took it perfectly, but it's way more dangerous than a regular piledriver.
