There was never any heat for any of the Lucha Bros matches. They had a feud with the Bucks based on them saying they would feud at the press conference that are was announced at, then brawling for no reason with the EVPs on camera on TV, where the biggest pop was Orange Cassidy standing behind a door. They had matches that were the same spot sequences in slightly different orders and with different stipulations to hide the lack of actual heat with gimmicks like cages and ladders.
I'm a huge Penta supporter, loved him early on in AAA. I was big on the Bucks until they proved that they can only do their same old spots as nauseum by having the same match on every njpw and roh show for years, with very few exceptions (Vs Briscoes the only real standout). AEW did nothing with Pentagon, they wasted a guy who could have been a main event star, one of many guys completely squandered there. I'm not saying that WWE doesn't squander guys too but WWE at least has plans and structure. There's no excuse for aew with the roster they have to be relying on WWE has beens in their main events and having their best young talent having cold matches on Saturday nights in empty buildings.
