Well all wrestling degrades over time regardless of geography or gender every generation loses the plot just a little more. As for joshi specifically, they didn’t have a moolah to train them bad on purpose and control all their booking. AJW struck gold with the crush gals in the 80s and drew many middle school girls and young secretaries. This lead to an unprecedented number of girls trying out for their school in the late 80s and early 90s. They had become a smart mark movez based product but because they had such a wide range of trainees they had the best movez girls anyone would ever have. They over estimated their reach running the Tokyo dome and while the show is great and you should watch it, big egg universe fucked them financially and they would get out of business 5 or so years later. Without a mainstream promotion novelty promotions started popping up like ice ribbon which was supposed to be an after school club that only the parents of the girls would ever see but it lead us to the era of modern joshi where under age girls wrestle in apartments for pedophiles.
