I won't lie. I marked out. I never liked Austin. I never liked Rock. Kurt was cool, but he had been given the ball before. Jericho, despite being a solid all-rounder had never really been given a main-event push, so I was rooting for him. I popped hard when he won and coukdn't wait to see where the story went from there. Then I got sad for a while.

The reaction was that Chris was one of my favorites, but he had also been passed by Rob Van Dam that summer & fall (who was being demolished by Undertaker in the same show) so it wasn't really the right time. That was further shown by how his title reign was playing second fiddle to Stephanie and her dog.
