Not surprising since they mentioned Penta is a former TNA Champion in his debut. TNA also booked some big arena on Long Island for Slammivesary this year, so rumor is they want to get ex-TNA stars that are currently in WWE for the show like AJ Styles, MCMG, etc
>>
>>16758509
Why the fuck would they have TNA shitters on the main show?
>>
>>16758509
Being on a show with an average of 700k viewers is a massive step up for TNA which doesn't even rank and gets like 30k viewers max.

Because any TNA talent scouted from the working agreement is likely to go to NXT first anyway, so it makes sense to familiarize the NXT audience with them, rather than the main roster, then boot them down to NXT.

unpopular opinion but i don't like partnerships and don't see the point now that every company is pretty More much readily available to watch. never any heat and predictable matches. just dilutes both.products. even shit like fantasticamania os boring.
>>
>>16758509
this is to block aew from more poaches and slowly stop them from growing
>>
TNA and NXT are both absolute dogshit so this appears to be a match made in heaven
>>
>>16758648
WWE likes it because now they can poach any TNA guys they want whenever they want and don't have to have them in NXT and if they don't work out on NXT they just send them back to TNA
TNA likes it because its way easier for them to get wrestlers compared to other similar sized promos when talents joining TNA think they have an inside track to WWE, which is where everyone wants to go. Its the same reason why marigold, despite not really selling out shows, was able to get a ton of the joshi talent. If your goal is to jump from japan to the WWE like IYO, Kairi and Giulia it makes more sense to be in marigold
>>
What does WWE get out of this exactly? If there's anything they should want out of TNA, it's the tape library, not the shitty talent.
>>
>>16758432
TNA won
AEW lost
>>
I think it's good for both companies.

TNA is stuck where it's at for the time being until they get a better TV station. Nobody gets AXS TV and less and less people have cable anyway. There's too much wrestling competition from WWE/AEW and TNA also doesn't really have the creative ability or the skills to develop talent to get further. TNA also seems to be going a budget cut as multiple wrestlers are leaving. I know they want to challenge WWE and AEW but it's just not going to happen right now. It's better to be a partner than prey.

WWE can send their younger wrestlers there. That'll get them some experience and provide some fresh matches for TNA. When WWE wants someone like Hendry or Grace, maybe they will let TNA use them from time to time instead of just signing them away. Maybe WWE also sends over someone like an Omos who they aren't using. TNA will also continue to get some exposure on WWE TV which has so far helped them.

That's great for TNA because that's basically what they are anyway. Nobody whose career has upward momentum wants to end their career in TNA, and TNA knows that. They're fully aware that all their big stars plan to leave eventually, and having a relationship with WWE will probably help them.

Oh fuck off. I was ready to watch TNA again thinking the NXT slop was done with. The only male talent in NXT worth a damn are Trick, Oba Femi and those wops, but if I wanted to see them I'd just watch NXT. What a bummer. If some WWE talent made appearances then cool, but it sounds like just NXT for now. A sad day for someone like me who has watched TNA since 2004 bar a few times I checked out. One of which was this last year when I had to sit through a bunch of NXT shitters. Wrestling fucking sucks.

>maybe they will share
so much as, if you are an indy guy and you are choosing between TNA and RoH or whatever other indy fed, if you go to TNA you now have a way easier chance to show up on NXT and get into the WWE than if you went to any other indy
>>
I hope making it an official partnership means that TNA will do their PLEs on Sundays instead of Fridays. So often it seems like TNA will have a big event the Friday night before a WWE PLE. I'm a bigger fan of WWE so I'm probably going to watch SmackDown, and then I could watch the TNA show the next day, but when there's a WWE show, I probably don't want to watch that much wrestling in one day. TNA should do events on days where there's no WWE.
>>

people have been speculating for a while now that WWE wanted to buy TNA. their tape library alone would be it worth it. i don't know if this gets them closer or farther from that. probably farther, because TNA will only benefit from this. they'll never be an actual competitor to WWE again, but they'll at least be able to survive more comfortably.
now if only they could get a tv deal on a real network. thursday night TNA on fox? nick khan, pull some strings.

No, TNA has four PPVs a year, those are always on the weekend. But they also do TNA+ events throughout the year, and those function more like PLEs where they are included in a TNA+ subscription, and they do those on Fridays.

>>
>>16758432
I don't get it. I thought this was already a thing. What's different about it?
>>
>>16759011
If you didn’t already assume he would be in the rumble you might be mentally challenged
>>
>>16758552
This is what was rumored from the start. When the NXT/TNA partnership started last year, WWE renewed the trademark on "Worlds Collide" so it was assumed it would all build to a NXT vs TNA show.
>>
>>16759011
joe hendry might be the least surprising rumble entrant ever. especially since WWE was working with TNA throughout 2024 and had jordynne there last year.
he has been very heavy handedly hinting at a rumble appearance for a while now. back in october when someone called him washed he said "this post won't age well in 4 months" or something like that. oobviously the idea is to get you to think "the rumble, he means the rumble," but the next day he announced that in february, he will submit a song to eurovision.
he has a master's degree in marketing, he knows how to sell himself and work the marks.
>>
>>16759019
I assumed it, but I didn't want it basically confirmed like this. Keep it a little bit of a surprise.
>>
>>16759018
I think they just made it more long term. Also there were several months with no NXT/TNA crossover, until Tuesday when Masha was in the front row.
>>

>Why not the main show.
Could you imagine the daily locker room assaults on TNA shitters if they got spots in one of the two biggest wrestling products on earth for free while NXT wrestlers languish in developmental hell?
>>
>>16758478
This is unironically the only reason why they agreed to this partnership. The moment he's a free agent, they're poaching him and breaking the partnership.
>>
>>16759090
They're getting Jordynne too.
>>
>>16759090
I think this largely has a lot to do with the partnership. In exchange, WWEID prospects can go to TNA for extra work
>>
>>16758552
I'm asking this question in all sincerity:
Do more people in America watch TNA or NJPW?
>>
WWE will be taking that New Japan partnership next. They are clearly working on isolating AEW.
>>
>>16759134
Everybody is talking about Joe Hendry in the Rumble, but what I really want to see is Tanahashi to be in the ring alone with John Cena even for just a couple of minutes.
>>
>>16758534
Constraining it to NXT still seems odd though. Sounds like they aren't planning on sending any big main roster names for TNA appearances which would be beneficial to TNA. Instead they are just treated as another WWE developmental.
>>
>>16759144
this is probably my second most wanted cena 2025 match behind giving kurt a proper retirement. if they tour japan at all this year, they have to make this happen.
>>
>>16758509
Another reason is that a lot of normies who only watch main roster don't know what TNA even is. The people who watch NXT are the hardcores, and they're the ones who are aware of other wrestling promotions and would be more inclined to check them out.
>>
>>16759149
Yeah, I don't know if a full match happens, but that's why I'm saying that even a Rumble appearance would be enough for me. If we don't get a full match, give us a couple of minutes.

i'm not too familiar with the japanese promotions and their relationships between each other - doesn't the fed already currently have small working relationships with both noah and marigold? would that interfere with those?
i know in the past they've acknowledged some NJPW title reigns, like for brock and AJ. don't know if they still would acknowledge them after nooj shacked up with AEW as heavily as they have.

NJPW and NOAH are cool with each other. Though NJPW owns Stardom and Stardom isn't cool with Rossy who owns Marigold.

WWE does still sometimes mention New Japan. Recently Michael Cole mentioned Shinsuke's reigns there.

>leaching
Good morning sirs! And the irony when tna is actually leeching on the scraps of wwe to stay relevant. Kek.
>>
>>16759118
I'd say TNA
Since last year TNA is constantly selling out their PPVs while New Japan struggles to get their US shows to sell even 2k tickets even while using AEW wrestlers as "draws" to these shows, like Mercedes
New Japan even lost their US TV deal and it doesn't seem like anyone is interested in picking it up
>>
>>16758685
They get even more places that NXT talent can go to and get experience, it's not that hard
Since last year NXT has been the main reason why WWE wants to collaborate with other promotions
Sending Tavion Heights to Japan worked like a charm, and he instantly had the best match of his career(and a very good match overall) when given the chance on a PLE
Also the NXT roster is almost big enough to the point where there are guys and girls who barely get TV time and chances to develop further, now that Level Up is die they need more places that people who aren't quite ready enough to be on TV to get their reps, or for wrestlers who haven't figured everything out yet to get more development, all while they get to work with veterans in places like TNA or NOAH
>>
>>16759370
Rossy wanted out to start his own company. Bushiroad decided to play nice and let him finish out his contract and split amicably leaving the door open to work with his new company. Word got out that while he was still under contract he was trying to recruit Stardom wrestlers to jump to his new promotion when he leaves. He got a warning to cut that shit out but ended up doing it again and that lead to him getting fired and leaving under unamicable terms.
>>
>>16759472
I understand them losing their TV deal because it was just a clip show anyway. Even as a fan of New Japan there's no reason to watch the show when it's all on NJPW World.

I wish they could sell more tickets to the American shows. That Mercedes match at Strong Style Evolved was amazing, but I hated seeing those empty yellow chairs.

I bet that's what Tanahashi wants too, but they're both kinda washed so I wouldn't want them to wrestle each other. Then again, that could be a kino match with two washed up old guys going all out and trying to pull out their absolute best for one last fight, that could be a compelling match now that I typed that out ngl.
