I find Cagematch useful. Not because I'm a smark or hardcore viewer. I just tend to find that if a show or match has a high rating on there, more often than not it's an entertaining view. Not always, but usually.
It's not that I watch all the 9+ rating bangers, I just don't have a whole lot of time for this stuff and would prefer to avoid watching crap. I like watching matches here and there and that's it for me.

Japanese wrestling isn't like that for the most part. AEW's problem is that Tony doesn't know what he's doing so he just lets workers do what they want so they do stupid shit to show off what they can do. They don't understand the law of diminishing returns and that less is more.
Japanese companies still have people who understand the business. Still, they've been in a weak situation after the pandemic because they make their money through putting butts in seats and not being able to have large gates during the pandemic did a number on their finances. Still much more watchable than AEW (and a different beast from WWE for the most part -- I'm not sure being a fan of one necessarily translates into being a fan of the other and that's not a knock against anyone)
Japanese wrestling shows are mostly just wrestling shows - you have a card, people come out, they wrestle. Stories exist in the meta - post-match interviews, twitter, etc.

I don't know if it's worse but it was a slog. Still, I'm not a fan of AEW's pacing and some of the acrobatics. That's not exclusive to AEW but I hate when anyone does it and they feel like the worst offender at times.
Dream Queendom was a breeze in comparison. I get called a joshipedo for advocating for Stardom but I really just watch it because it's probably the most consistently watchable company right now. And even that's a shadow of its self even a couple years ago.
