>>16776306The average wrestling fan from 2000 has stopped watching wrestling.
All the normies left and now it's just the degenerate freaks, mentally retarded, and third worlders who remain
>Not in the mainstream>UFC exposed what real fighting is >PG Era ruined what's allowed to be said on TV >Sex, drugs, rock and roll is replaced with Porn, Whippits and Rap>No more star level wrestlers/personalities like Stone Cold, The Rock, HHH, Vince McMahon, Brock Lesnar >Casuals know its a work and no longer care about the soap opera aspect Just the whole vibe kind of died. Doubt its coming back
>>16776321sad thing is that everywhere i look in the entertainment sector, i see people who could have easily learned their craft from pro-wrestling... without the wrestling moves, which ironically is what AEW has solely focused on.
>>16776306wrestling's now for the rick & morty anime funko pop nerd demographic, plus the trannies/hipsters who watch shit like progress, gcw etc
>>16776321>Casuals know its a work and no longer care about the soap opera aspectGreat list, and I think people often underestimate what a big role this played, even more-so than MMA.I personally wonder how much an effect shows like the Sopranos and Breaking Bad had on killing wrestling. They weren't direct competitors. But they did the tension and drama even better. Wrestling has always been a stupid thing, but when you're getting what you want from it from something better there's sort of less reason to watch in the first place when you could devote that time to something else.
>>16776335This.
>>16776321I think the average person was aware it was fake. Growing up I always did. Just didn’t care because I found the show entertaining. Problem is that now the wrestling looks faker than it ever did
>>16776306censorship and "thought" sterilisation has stopped fans from expressing themselves, showing true enjoyment and enjoying entertainment that was truly entertaining. Instead, their brains have been brainwashed by a political machine. Fun is no longer allowed on this planet. You WILL conform to the political machine.

>>16776382Deck.His house has a very small backyard.
>>16776355Yeah there was a suspension of reality to a degree cause Austin/Vince angle was so fun and entertaining you don't think they actually hate eachother but it was a employee/boss type angle so people related
>>16776335How did those kinds of people fall into wrestling? A lot claim they were fans growing up but nothing about wrestling from the 90s to 2000s would appeal to a person like that
>>16776306This sums it up
>>16776467It’s basically become another midwit “fandom” for them to obsess over.
>>16776524Also I think it lets a lot of them larp as proles
>>16776535They probably view wrestling as a typical working class interest so decided to co opt it even if they don’t actually like it

>>16776467These are the least genuine people that exist, their life is one of constant one upsmanship in saying the correct thing to prove more morally pure and fear being banished for not being sufficently pure. It's had a sort of pavlovian effect on them, they also want to believe all is subjective and changeable by human effort. As for wrestling in specific, I'd say they're into it for the same reason people in the 80's liked greasers, or the mall goth look. Upper/middleclass people want to buy a form of masculinity or reduce their feelings of guilt/be the cool rebel.
>>16776355From my experience with ex-fans this is pretty close. During the holidays, family who used to watch wrestling was over and I had NXT playing in the background and a tag match with that Axiam team vs. the ugly Scottish guys team was on. And it what you are expect fast spamming moves, something they said stood out with me, "This is confusing, this fight makes no sense" and when two guys were on the top turnbuckle to set up a top rope move, possibly a Spanish fly and they started sarcastically saying "ready...ready... Ok wait wait let's go"These were people I know who watched casually in 80s, 90s, 2000 but I do think people want to see something resembling a battle or fight or at least a drama, The Meltzerism of spamming moves to show how athletic you are is a turn off. It's like expecting an action movie and getting a dance number for a fight
>>16776306Yeah. The average fan used to watch both shows and not be a total faggot. But hey, let's ruin everything cuz its fun to be left with nothing but shit
>>16776320>>16776321There's this, too. Not one wanting to be associated with the pathetic wastes of life here. It's embarrassing. It's less humiliating to admit you watch anime than to have something in common with the type of person who would visit here, never mind post here
>>16776306That looks so comfy
>>16776306They definitely have less(or no) sex with less women
>>16779153Exactly this.I took a long hiatus and got back into it with NJPW because it at least resembled real fighting. But even that's gotten a big meh.Close to stopping again for good and just becoming one of those guys who watches old matches all the time.Love wrestling, don't care much for modern wrestling.

THEY STILL LIKE BIG AMERICAN TIFFIES
Attitude era fans grew up and didn't want to associate with the choppy your peepee show anymore. Anyone who stuck around since then is probably watching AEW.
>>16776306As someone who was a fan back then I can say it wasnt embarrassing to be a wrestling fan in those days
>>16783460>That Ahmed poster near the end Aww
>>16776306The live wrestling fan doesn’t actually exist in this day and age. They too are simply actors in a show.Everything is manufactured. Everything is generated. Everything is done so the crowd gets their own shit in too.No one just watches and loses their shit anymore. No one is lost in the present moment and their attention is divided between what’s in the ring and what’s on their phone. The fact that the largest company on earth has a production style/philosophy that actually caters to and takes phone/social media addicts into account is disgusting.Basically:>thenHot, engaged, explosive crowds 100% focused on the show/event>NowCrowds waiting for “their part” multitasking between the event and social media.
>>16783490It was embarrassingback then, it was just less embarrassing.
>>16783545>No one just watches and loses their shit anymore. Part of this is the product. Hard to lose your shit over another Bayley/Nia match and nothing in AEW moves the needle. >the largest company on earth has a production style/philosophy that caters to social media addictsHuge problem>Crowds waiting for “their part” The fake ass "this is awesome" or "you deserve it" chants are peak cringe. If WWE is going to seed fake crowd responses, it would be nice if they weren't fucking lame.
It's the grittiness it lost. It all feels grouped in that. You can feel it from the look of the show, to the promos, lack of fan interaction, etc. I don't care about swear words. I couldn't care less if wrestlers couldn't say bad words on TV. Wrestling has always been fake, but it at least felt more real. Maybe it was a product of being younger and more naive, but they went from the old Elimination Chamber, in which wrestlers were slamming each other on actual steel you could hear, to the current format where wrestlers are gingerly falling on wood and flying into plastic "chains", while the commentators tried to sell us on the EC still being a "steel structure". They went from busting each other open to stopping matches and tending to cuts. Hard to compete with UFC if you're doing that. It's hard for me to even watch "good wrestling" anymore. I've watched multiple matches from last year that claimed to be "classics" and I literally can't stand to watch them hit each other because they don't even try to make it look real anymore. It kills engagement when I see them not even trying to hit or sell moves, same when I see them watching the ref count so they can kick out. The wrestlers themselves have lost touch with kayfabe and the fans suffer as a result. Wrestlers now feel like overpaid athletes who are too scared to play because they're afraid of getting hurt more.I also think smart phones and social media have a big thing to do with it. People having a distraction for themselves and only pay attention when the match gets good has killed fan enthusiasm. Everybody on Twitter who attends a show thinks they're a blogger and has to live tweet the event./stoner rant
>>16776314Their dead now
>>16783968For me when there's a "fight forever" or "this is awesome" chant it's already a failure of a match. The fans broke the fourth wall and are not invested on who will win but commentating on "the action". For so many who think that adds value to a match, especially when TK mentions it, shows how no one is actually over
>>16784210Their dead now what?
>>16783460I didn't realize WWF was back that hot by 97. for some reason I didn't remember them really getting big until like 98
