Is Roman the ultimate example of "you think you know what you want, but you don't, I know what you want"?Roman was hated for years, but Vince saw something in him and nurtured that seed until he truly came into his own both as a man and a wrestler. Cody is supposedly the #1 now but Roman is still considered "the guy" when it comes down to it.
Cody is Ultimate Warrior to Roman's Hogan
It could've and should've been Dean. Dean should have beaten The Undertaker. Dean should have been Undisputed World Champion for years. Dean should have gotten the dogfood bath. Not this insufferable sack of Stockholm syndrome succotash!
>>16830868If you throw enough shit at the wall, something will eventually stick.
>>16830868>nurtured that seedroman wouldn't have returned in the thunderdome if they didn't let him be heel
From how I remember it no one sane hated Roman, they just hated how forced the Big Dog shit was. Everyone wanted him to be a monster heel since like 2015.
>>16830868vince pushed the fuck out of roman at the expense of the product until one of his gimmicks finally stuck after nearly a decadehe is not special at all - any wrestler they decided to get behind could have been roman reigns, and many could have got there faster while not turning so much of the audience away
Vince's baby boyA shit wrestler That put a hold on WWE for 8 yearsThey buried everyone to him just to prove a point and all you morons ate him up so fuck you too niggers
>>16830868ITT his biggest asset is that he looks the way a pro-wrestler ought to look at a time when most wrestlers don't.
Pajeet thread.
>>16830868Roman was simply way too green for main eventing when he was given the MEGAPUSH of the century back in late 2014-2015, keep in mind at that point, he was only 5 years into his career as a wrestler, and he spent much of that as "the silent badass" of a stable group, and when he broke out for singles competition, they made him essentially John Cena 2.0, someone with a one-of-a-kind personality and type of charisma and it simply would never ever work.
>>16830976this. people were hating on roman because it was cool but whenever youd actually discuss it, everybody just wanted him to turn heel
Except he was forced as the top face from the start. Fans rejected him because he just wasn't good enough. Seth was built up as the next top heel while Dean was solidified as Roman's little buddy. Everyone was expecting him to be the one to turn heel and maybe he should have been after we've seen how his tribal chief run has gone. Seth was a good swerve and it worked well. The real problem was pushing Roman to the top right away. Not even a year after going solo he won a Rumble and was facing Brock at Mania for the title. People forget the timing was shit too, as Daniel Bryan announced his in ring return like two weeks before the Rumble and fans were excited for it. Then the match happened and it was basically the most spiteful fuck you to the fans they could have done, with all the favorites getting unceremoniously dumped to make Roman look good. Complete with Rock getting shat on and being totally pissed off later. If they let Bryan have his Rumble win and Brock match, Roman could face Rusev or do the IC title match. Bryan can win, lose or get cashed in on by Seth, Roman has a singles title run to test the waters.>>16831394They tried everything with Roman. American patriot and hero, anti-authority rebel, cool guy with catchphrases and it just didn't work. They basically tried to make him Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena and it wasn't happening.
>>16830976I remember this. This opinion was everywhere/popular at the time. It was never really “I fucking hate roman” from anyone sane. It was usually how shit he was being booked
>>16831458>Daniel Bryan announced his in ring return like two weeks before the Rumble and fans were excited for itDaniel Bryan is a gigantic fucking faggot pussy and anyone who ever rooted for him is a cuckold.
>>16830868Congrats on getting over with a decade long push LMAO
>>16831458They actually literally did a Roman vs Everyone match and it wasn't even for a ppv it was free tv.
>>16830868>Is Roman the ultimate example of "you think you know what you want, but you don't, I know what you want"?It's the exact opposite of that, like other Anons said it before me, the fans liked Roman and knew that he would be great as a heel as far back as 2015. Vince didn't want to turn in just to spite everyone, and wasted about half a decade of everyone's time.
>>16831473Everyone liked Bryan and it was too soon for Roman, so they should have gone with him instead. Don't bring up ratings and attendance because they kept dropping when he was done and with Roman on top.
>>16830868>Is Roman the ultimate example of "you think you know what you want, but you don't, I know what you want"?No because the version of Roman they were so insistent of shoving down our throats always sucked. If it wasn't for the pandemic that's still the version we would've had too. Hell if it wasn't for the pandemic and them finally having no crowds they were able to book him long enough with their ears plugged to all the shit even the Tribal Chief shit had at the beginning. On top of that, despite how over he is now, the majority of his reign was dogshit anyway. Said it before and I'll say it again. The man was handed the world for the last 10 years and only managed to make 2 or 3 of them interesting
>>16831508>Everyone liked BryanAnd look how that turned out.DB is retiring and looks like he's on deaths door because he's a vegan faggot, and Roman even supposedly being a cancer patient in remission looks like the hottest thing since the attitude era. He BARELY shows up and he still gets monster pops, meanwhile Dbry's twilight years were spent on smark matches at All Elderly Wrestling.
>>16831490That rings a bell. What a dire era that was.>>16831510Crazy to think how different things would be if Vince was stubborn and insisted on Roman staying face. He'd have stayed home, no heel turn, no Bloodline, no hot title run.
>>16830868>truly came into his own both as a man and a wrestlerthat never happened
>>16831581Look at clips of him when the Rock is getting booed vs now. It's night and day, it's like an anime timeskip level of progress. The man oozes confidence in 2024, like him or hate him he's grown into his potential.
>>16831572Roman DOES look like a cancer patient. The last 2 years or so he hasn't really looked big anymore.
>>16830868>but Vince saw something in him and nurtured that seed until he truly came into his own both as a man and a wrestler. If Vince still had control over his booking, he'd be forced to be whatever Vince wanted. Seriously, the problem was ALWAYS the booking. That wouldn't have changed if Vince wasn't swayed by Roman and Heyman. Roman could work a match, that was never the problem. He can output a good wrestling match, which is all hypothetically WWE needs in a talent, but the booking makes or breaks the overall reception.Roman is a decent wrestler who's been given the world. His years of experience makes up for it, he's been given advice from the best talent as well. He's a nepo-baby that eventually got good enough, which I make no exception for because ultimately with how much investment he's had, it would be hilarious if he wasn't decent or good. Even for his issues with his family, he's been given opportunities that no one else would have.If you want an idea of how retarded vince can make his booking, even on new talent that clearly have potential, look at who Orton beat for his record-setting win for the title. Then look at how long that lasted.
>>16830868Once a shitter always a shitter. You're just a mindless slop loving low IQ faggot that gave in to low quality shit in life. You and what's left of pro wrestling fans are sad and pathetic. You're all the type of people that would've been bullied in the 90's and early 2000's.
Roman fucking sucks. But only because of how he was booked. Just like The Rock, he took a while to find his groove. But unlike Rocky, while they forced Roman's push, they buried every other potential star in the process. When The Rock was pushed, WWE was also pushing other wrestlers and didn't put The Rock in the main event of Wrestlemania until he was actually over!
>>16830868Roman and Cody are both boring as fuck
I have posited for a long time that pretty much anyone could and would garner massive heat after a long enough time and big enough push. Simply because this man would have been in the main event for so long and beaten so many big names, the audience would care about what he's doing - whether that's because they hate him because they don't think he should be in that spot or because they genuinely believe he is a big deal.Granted, this would work better with someone who has a great look and of course talent but the fact remains if you had taken almost any man on the WWE roster and given him the exact same push Roman had, he'd have a very similar level of heat that Roman has now, some might have a little more, some might have a little less. And like Roman, if anyone wasn't "ready" at first, most would inevitably improve and eventually learn how to work the crowd as "the guy"
>>16831458>>16831508Bryan was injury prone and it’s a miracle that he didn’t permanently retire in 2016. The company wanted a safer investment for their time and money.
>>16831593Fucking anyone who isn't some timid introvert should develop confidence and swagger after the biggest company in your industry pushes and hands you the world relentlessly for years and years and years
>>16830976>>16831468It's ok cultists, we can admit that his promos before 2020 were dogshit
>>16830868Turn him heel, pair him with heyman, and put him with his cousins were the most common suggestions during his entire face run. Vince was just stubborn and senile
>>16830868You'd hope that eventually someone would be good at their job if they were a nepobaby that the boss wanted to fuck, and made it clear to you and all your coworkers that you're getting the top position no matter what
