>She didn't know that aew wanted her until her boss told her. Aew offered a lot of money and wwe told her "We can't pay that, good luck in your endeavors." and she cried when the call ended. Her dad asked her if she was crying cause she was going to make a lot of money or because she let her dream company go and that's when she kinda understood she wanted wwe. HBK called her after that and that helped her made her mind up. It was her choice to go for nxt (they wanted main roster debut) but she decided nxt so she could study English and get better at promos after Del Toro suggested it.

A more detailled translation from Twitter

>Listening to this Stephanie Vaquer interview, she talks about how AEW called her when she was already in Toronto to talk to WWE, saying they knew she was there and not to sign with them.

>And that day she was talking with AEW and WWE saying here’s what the others are offering.

>She told them to give her a day to think about it, and that AEW offered to pay for her flight and hotel right away and WWE wanted her to be front row at Heatwave, but she didn’t want to owe anyone anything so she didn’t do either that day.

>She said she told WWE what AEW was offering in terms of money, and they said “we can’t match that, good luck in AEW.” So says she was crying even though she was gonna make more money because WWE was her dream.

>And with that she realized she cared more about going to WWE.

>Later, Shawn Michaels himself called her and talked to her she told him that even if someone offered her a hundred million dollars, she wouldn’t be happy if she wasn’t doing what she loved.

>She says Shawn totally understood and told her some great stuff that she’ll keep to herself but that made her want to sign and next day she accepted the contract.

>Another detail to add to this thread now that more people are seeing it is that she said WWE called her the morning after Forbidden Door.

>She talked to CMLL about it and they were surprised because AEW had told them they were gonna call, but WWE ended up calling first.

Sign with AEW
>up to 1M a year contract
>fumbled by Tony
>your brand and value completely killed
>eventually get sick of AEW nonsense, sign with WWE
>NXT or main roster on like 500K a year
Sign with WWE
>200K-400K a year contract give or take
>eventually work up to 500K-1M in a few years
>your value and brand actually increases
>even if you're released, Tony will hire you for more money anyway

Unless you're a significant outlier in the long term for most wrestlers signing with AEW over WWE is retarded.
>>
>>17506805
WWE and Okada both dodged bullets there. WWE didn't get the broken down wrestler and Okada wasn't forced to actually wrestle.
>>

Tony made Okada-san the highest paid wrestler in history (he's making around $14 million a year). Even if he wants to go to WWE he can do so at the end of this deal. If Stephanie wants AEW money she can make a name for herself in WWE and then go back to AEW.
>>17506874

>>
>>17506763

>>
>>17506911
Here's what actually happened.
>WWE and AEW both try to bribe Steph so they can get in her good graces to sweet talk her and/or hold it over her head later
>In a moment of clarity, Steph doesn't do either and cools for a day (this was most likely a cultural thing/belief rather than a rational choice)
>Steph calls WWE the next day, brings up AEW's contract, WWE says "Well fuck off to AEW then"
>Steph cries like a mark and works herself into a shoot
>Meanwhile WWE, pretending to be tough either went "Well we REALLY don't want her in AEW", or "We need her to be here, she's too good" and sent Shawn to work her over
>Stephanie, now fully shooting, gets basically manipulated by Shawn's words and to come work for WWE because it's literally her dream as a mark, probably fed her some bullshit about how he wanted to leave the company but stayed because he loves wrestling/wwe/"we're a family here" etc etc
>She accepts the next day
This whole situation seems sketchy and it's odd how casual Stephanie is talking about it. But the most interesting thing is her admitting to WWE calling CMLL first, so either WWE has stopped betting on American talent much or is really trying to open their eyes to more global talent to get something unique out of them. Dunno how that'd work though if they can't even speak a lick of english.

AEW is 7-figures in total, paid across 2-3 years where you work 10 times in total and completely lose your marketability.
WWE is 7 figures in total, paid across a decade or two in various opportunities (in ring and out of the ring) where you'll be working most days of the week, most weeks, and you'll be working with the absolute best in the business.
Work well enough and the WWE sets you up for life.
AEW destroys your career.

>>17507056
You're neglecting one crucial part.
Vaquer knows that if she goes to AEW, she'll never get booked and her career is over.
Unlike AEW marks, she realises that working for Tone-deaf Khunt devalues her marketability.
Of course the money matters. AEW will pay a fair chunk of change for nothing, but the WWE will make her more money in the long run, because she'll be working in the long run instead of fading out of Tony's mind.
>>
>>17507343
why would anyone beholden to stock holders have anything to do with gayEW is indeed an excellent question

Gonna have to disagree. Okada would have been a great fit for WWE, better than AEW. WWE's trainers and medical staff are top notch and they could have gotten more mileage out of Okada, similar to how they've kept Punk relatively healthy. That combined with smarter booking would have elongated Okada's career. A run with the U.S. or IC belt would have been better than being the dork that stands next to the Bucks in a failing promotion.

She literally went to WWE not finishing her contract that had plans AEW, NJPW and Stardom while having the women's CMLL belt, CMLL had to book more unexpected matches due to this.
She left just like Stone Cold did.

Princesa Sugehit vacated the belt before Vaquer, which is how Vaquer got the belt. Then CMLL belted up the super talented and amazing Willow Nightingale. Steph vacating the belt isn't a big deal.
>Telling beaners she's more of a beaner than them
She's not wrong. Abandoning your culture to contribute to the American mystery meat cocktail in the U.S. does factually speaking make you less of a Latino. If being Latino is so fucking important to you, go back.
>>
>>17510565
>Everyone knows she was lying
Statistically speaking, I don't think you could find a beaner male that hasn't beat up a woman at some point in their life. So I'm pretty sure she's telling the truth. Also, CMLL didn't give AF. It's heat and it's good for business.

>Shawn made her drop the NA NXT belt
I seriously don't think this is connected in any way. I'm a smark, and I wasn't aware of these comments and I just find them hilarious. The majority of WWE fans speak English and don't care. She's defending herself against the Latino fanbase that criticized her for being too white or Mestizo or whatever self-discriminatory term Latinos use. And she isn't wrong. If you want to be considered Latino, why are you in the U.S.? She's based AF and she was going to drop the belt at some point anyway.

>>

It makes more sense that she realized AEW would give her more upfront, but she isn't going to go anywhere after that. With WWE/NXT, even if she flops, she'll have enough of an audience where she can get the mark contract from Tony anyway.

Tony is too easy to work and he's shown he'll pay for anyone with the WWE cred. It didn't help he basically fucked up most of the WWE guys to the point that they wanted to go back to WWE.
>>
>>17508094
Yeah, but they might start you low by then. Both are petty, but WWE is a lot more petty with that shit, once they get rejected.

Meanwhile, the door for her to just make dumb money is always open because Tony is that much of a mark. It's better for her to just gain notoriety and sign with Tony if it fails.
>>
>>17511928
>WWE is a lot more petty with that shit, once they get rejected
The fuck are you blabbering about? WWE literally brought back CM Punk ... the dude that never missed an opportunity over a 10 year period to bury WWE. And Cody took a sledgehammer to an Haitch throne in a ppv. Both of these motherfuckers will be headlining Wrestlemania. If anything, WWE is about business above pettiness.
>>
>>17507116
>I’m more baffled by the fact that she went basically undetected for a decade
Someone's asking the real questions.
It makes sense that she went unnoticed for at least 2015 to 2019 because NXT was the only pipeline for high-quality women like her.
>>
>>17512153
She was in CMLL from 2018-2024 and before that, sat out two years because of an injury. She spent three years in the Mexican Indies (Chilanga Mask) early in her career. Stardom was probably the biggest reason people started noticing her. But she even admits she sucked when she started out. People are noticing her because she's great in the ring, can pull off AJ's finisher that he can no longer do, and has a good gimmick.
>>
>>17506774
Would that make AEW the sellout contract? Going to the place you don't really want to be and giving up other goals you might have just for the sake of making more money? Because that's what selling out is

every single coper in this thread going on about "well of course she's following her dreams, it's a good thing that she's a mark and signed a mark contract" would, in the same breath, shit on someone like ospreay or omega for doing the same thing she did, by following their hearts and choosing to wrestle their preferred style of wrestling in the other company - all while making more money doing it!

No. I shit on Omega and Ospreay because they legitimately suck. It has nothing to do with the contracts they signed. Ospreay less so because he at least isn't a broken 40-year old still trying to do flippy shit. Steph has a jiu jitsu background and works the lower mat well, doing stuff like arm bars and locks in her matches. Her flippy shit is sparse and executed cleanly. She doesn't need 5 Mexican midget shitters lined up in place for 30 seconds to catch her, like Ospreay.
>>
>>17512628
>Omega is on-pace to beat Phil's entire comeback and he wasn't even medically cleared for 13 months

>I'm sure you would feel the exact same way if they had signed to WWE
I would because I occasionally watch the matches I criticize. Omega versus Kidd was embarrassing. Meltzer stopped talking about workrate because Kenny's workrate is complete shit right now. He botched multiple spots, to include his finisher and his flippy shit spots took too long to set up. Kenny is washed. If he was in WWE, I'd just fast forward through his matches. Ospreay isn't as washed, but his shit still sucks and I wouldn't watch it either.
