Welcome! To the one Civ Thread that won't be abandoned. For you see- a long time ago there was a civ thread that was abandoned due to the responsibilities of relationships and employment. Rejoice! For I am unemployed, depressed, and lonely! In celebration, and as proof of my intention to be different than other civ threads- You will not argue over a civilization and a race for several days.

You're a tribe of Amorphous Sludge! Your noble "people" spend their days bathing in tainted magic springs left behind by wizards experimenting eons prior. Other than randomly spawning more Sludge, these wells are simultaneously toxic in a physical, and magical sense. Biologically, you're omnivorous scavengers capable of minor shapeshifting and communicate through sign language. Due to this inability to communicate, typical inhuman appearance, and disease being associated with Sludges; most other races see view them as non sentient and attack on sight. Thankfully, your tribe is housed within a cavern- subsisting off any creature or plant unfortunate enough to grow too close to the noxious fumes of the tainted magic springs.

>Diplomacy: There is a village of dwarves near the cavern entrance and occasionally their children get lost. Due to the disappearances there is a guard outpost preventing us from exploring beyond the cavern.

You are Chief ______ as your people do not use names, nor titles- there is little distinction between any of you and identity theft is considered as rude as passing gas, so the actual Sludge in charge changes by the hour. What do you (or someone else) decree?

Were next to a dwarven village surely some of our smaller drippier ancestors witnessed these short hairy piles of calories swing a stick, maybe rather than make tools we learn to move the hydration in our body to other areas rendering hardened slime for tooluse as prosthetics of sorts, if not that im sure we can find old worn tools to graft into our oozey limbs

Your patience is admirable! And rewarded with a free Nat 20 on tool creation due to the notably productive half hour Chief Loog spent in charge. (long may he be remembered) In the future to add variety (and potentially introduce more aspects of the world, good and bad) Every decision will be followed by a D20 roll to determine success and the additional effect, with this post serving as the example.

Chief Loog in all of his oozing wisdom figured out multiple ways that bone can be used to crush, slice, and pierce- in addition to the adhesiveness of dried mud. Even better, he has the foresight (a trait often lacking in Sludges) to realize that brittle hammers won't last long, so he uses stone for their heads with bone handles.

While the knives and hatchets see some use in scavenging, allowing the collection of skins as a novelty and vines for cordage- Chief Loog's hammers are seen as little more than a toy by most Sludges- scoffed at as something an oozeling will grow out of a few hours after their emergence. This is of course until one randomly bashes in a rather deep chamber of the cavern, causing the entire cave system to shake. That young sludge, along with a handful of others are unfortunately swallowed by the earth, plummeting so far that neither they or the debris of the sinkhole caving in are heard hitting the ground. The only trace of their brief existence, and the reason for a growing popularity of hammers- is a large, glowing deposit of crystal that your tribe has started collecting from the edges of the sinkhole. While it is overwhelmingly dark within, bioluminescent fungus and shining crystals reveal a massive pitch black landscape dotted with colorful lights like the night sky.

>Diplomacy: Dwarven village outpost blocking the surface exit to cave, unknown dangers lurk in the hole that has opened up to the depths.

You are Chief Splooge of the Cave Sludge tribe; your predecessor retired after their half hour reign to take a nap as is customary in your tribe. What do you (or another Sludge more in the mood) do?

I feel like qst doesn't like civ threads maybe? I remember on tg there were long running civ games, even the ones I made at least lasted a few threads before I abandoned it.
