Summary: You are Ninety-Nine, a tyranid hybrid made to combat the tyranid

She had to stay strong. This level of isolation was nothing compared to the roaring flames of battle. Ninety-Nine avoided the people in the ship, though once a day she moved with the servitors and pretended to be one just to feel part of a brood. Ninety-Nine watched the servitors move inside a cramped hallway. The ground suddenly rumbled.

“Translating into real space.” The ship’s vox announced.

The ship’s interior pipes and walls creaked heavily. Ninety-Nine whipped her head left and right in panic. Suddenly, the sounds stopped. There was a pulse of silence before the ship’s quiet hum resumed. She shrugged and followed the servitors until they reached a wide space, where tech priests and skiitari gathered. Ninety-Nine climbed on top of a cogitator, then grabbed onto a pipe above, then skulked in the dark to find a way back into her room.

“Subject Ninety-Nine to the command deck. Subject Ninety-Nine to the command center.” The voxes set in many corners announced. “Subject Ninety-Nine to the command deck. Subject Ninety-Nine to the command deck.”

Thanks to following the servitors, Ninety-Nine knew the basic layout of the ship, enough to know the important locations filled with people so she could avoid them. First, Ninety-Nine returned to her room to retrieve her hooded robe, then arrived at the command deck.

Gotta hide it, need to hide it…

As she walked, Ninety-Nine tugged robes to cover her hands and her tail wrapped her waist. She was at the command deck, though she was not sure what she was supposed to do.

>Ninety-Nine looked for Faustinius
>Ninety-Nine looked for Inquisitor Greyfax
>Ninety-Nine approached the tall battle-master with metal tendrils on his back
>Ninety-Nine stayed where she was, she was in the command deck after all and no one told her where she was supposed to be specifically.

Everyone in the ship moved. Be it the servitors or tech-priests, everyone knew where they had to go. Not Ninety-Nine, she tugged at her sleeves and the hood again to cover her features, even if it meant obstructing her vision. The very thought of being seen frightened her for now.

“Subject Ninety-Nine, to hangar five. Subject Ninety-Nine, to hangar five.”

Ninety-Nine circled around, she found no signs of where she was meant to be. After minutes of wandering, Ninety-Nine sniffled. The crowds ignored her, and no one seemed to be willing to help.

“Subject Ninety-Nine, to hangar five. Keep going forward, over the rails, and go to the fifth ship.”

Ninety-Nine followed the vox’s instruction. A group of skitarii rangers and a large metal capsule waited at the ship. The skitariis turned their blue lensed eyes at Ninety-Nine who flinched. They chattered in raspy whispers that left a distorted crack. The skitarii pressed a button on the capsule. A grating moan creaked out from the capsule as the middle portion opened up. The skitarii pointed at the interior.

“Do you… want me inside?”

The skitarii nodded.

“Why can’t I ride in the ship?”

“Orders from Magos Faustinius, you are to enter.” The skitarii said.

Ninety-Nine sighed and entered the capsule, trapping her in cold darkness. She felt the capsule being moved and then attached with a heavy snap. The dark interior suddenly lit up by the holo-screen inside the capsule.

“Ninety-Nine. Your mission is to enter enemy territory and eliminate vat grown tyranids.”

The screen showed a tyranid but with black carapace with twisted, malformed flesh. Extra limbs protruded on their backs, bumps and warts infected their flesh, their fangs were not uniform but grown to different lengths. Ninety-Nine blanched as she stuck her tongue out.

>“You are to infiltrate the outpost of the heretek’s forge fortress and eliminate the vat grown tyranid scouts. Then wait at the outpost for further instructions.”
>“You are to move with the skitarii unit and assist the initial assault by being dropped near by the forgre fortress with other skitarii units.”

“You are to infiltrate the outpost of the heretek’s forge fortress and eliminate the vat grown tyranid scouts. Then wait at the outpost for further instructions. You will be dropped in t-minus five hours.”

“That’s so long!”

No answer. Ninety-Nine cross her arms and sighed. With nothing to do, she closed her eyes and slept. Her peaceful slumber soon ended by blaring alarms and flashing red light. Ninety-Nine rubbed her eyes as she slowly stirred up.

“Huh… whuzz iz it?” Ninety-Nine yawned.

“Warning. Past target drop zone. Warning. Past target drop zone.”

Then, weightlessness. Ninety-Nine giggled as the new floaty sensation levitated her. Her hair moved freely as if underwater. This new lack of gravity was only ruined by the lack of space. Ninety-Nine wondered if this was what swimming was like. Maybe she could—

WHAM

The immediate force slammed Ninety-Nine on impact. Her head swayed left and right, her vision blurred, Ninety-Nine shook her head. The capsule opened with a pressurized hiss, she peeked her head and found herself surrounded in a metal interior. Ninety-Nine saw a webs of pipes spread far and wide and metal walls that oozed with dark red slime. A bright light poured through the gaping hole pierced by the fallen capsule.

Ninety-Nine approached the wall, the red oozed smelled thickly of unnatural paste. The ooze squelched as Ninety-Nine scraped the slime with her talon. The tip of her long and pink tongue hesitantly touched the ooze. The putrid stench of rot and lip puckering sourness touched back. Ninety-Nine smeared the ooze on the least dirtiest wall.

“Blegh!” Ninety-Nine smear the ooze on the least dirtiest wall.

The ooze continued to drip from the wall. Ninety-Nine brought her nose and sniffed. Her sense of smell however did not detect the origin of the scent, for it had none. She cocked her head, then sniffed, once again, nothing. No meat should have no scents, it made no sense. How can a bad tasting meat have no scent?

“That’s weird…”

Ninety-Nine looked up at the hole then around her surroundings. On every wall the red ooze dripped, glistening from the green flames from dimly lit torches to glowing crystals embedded in wire riddled lanterns that hung on ceilings and walls. Ninety-Nine’s dark vision began to adjust. Suddenly, Ninety-Nine heard a tapping on the floor that sounded like six footsteps.

Ninety-Nine looked for a way down. No stairs and with no way for a grav lift, Ninety-Nine dove into an open vent and crawled away. She waited, until the skittering was a distant echo. Ninety-Nine crawled deeper until she arrived at the other end. She hopped out of the vent but her footing slipped on the metal floor layered with sticky red mucus.

“No no no!” Ninety-Nine frantically whispered.

With one final slip, she landed face first into the ground. A trail of ooze followed as Ninety-Nine stood back up. The red robe became sticky and now shriveled up, clinging to her skin with a damp and coarse texture.

“I hate this day already…”

Ninety-Nine stood back up and saw a wide open space ahead of her that was nearly devoid of light. Despite the open flames, darkness choked the lights from spreading. Chains hung from above, some with meathooks that held naked men and women with strange symbols carved into their stomach. Ninety-Nine sniffed the air.

Can’t get a scent…

Small chunks of flesh and broken metal bits filled each room Ninety-Nine sniffed the remaining bits, catching scent of oil and incense similar yet different to the tech-priests back in the Caestus Metallican. The melee they held were jagged and sharp, with guns with coiled metal bits with welding lines that stitched the metal parts together. After checking the final room, she saw a cracked cogitator next to the metal automated door bruised with dents and scratch marks. Ninety-Nine had to wonder… why was it so quiet here?

1 - 25 will be a normal success
26 - 45 will be no success, she will look for another route and nothing bad will happen.
46 - 55 will be no success, she will have to roll a sneak and beat a difficulty roll of 6 with a D6 with two rolls.
50 - 100 No success, and enemy encounter that is different from 46-55

The outpost had more turns and twists than a maze. Ninety-Nine wandered the halls and descended more stairs until she found no more rooms to explore. Ninety-Nine huffed a frustrated sigh then climbed back up the stairs. No scents pointed her a way, and not a soul remained in this outpost.

“I’m so hungry…”

A skittering from before drew close from a corner as a pained breath wheezed out. Ninety-Nine jumped back inside the vent and watched. A clawed hand peeked from the corner first, then the entire body pulled itself forward. It was a heretek priest that Ninety-Nine saw inside the capsule. The tech-priest crawled on the floor, pulling himself with his hands and his mechadendrites. His lower half jutted out metal wires and black entrails, leaving a smeared black trail.

The tech-priest arrived at the locked cogitator. His mechadendrite rose up, and began clicking on the cogitator buttons. Ninety-Nine waited to see the door behind, until something else appeared. A heavy dollop of mass emerged from the shadows.

“Going somewhere?”

A hand encased in power armor grabbed the mechadendrite as its form fully liberated itself from the darkness. A battle-master! Though this one looked more unique. Instead of rich cloth or capes, he wore stitched up dry skins. Skulls and bones hung from his armor with three decomposing heads on a spike plated at the back. Though he seemed different, Ninety-Nine knew better, his armor was blue, therefore, he was an Ultramarine.

Ninety-Nine hopped out of the vent.

“Hello, battle-master, I’m Ninety-Nine. I didn’t know you were also joining, Emperor, you have a lot of snacks, do you like eating flesh too?”

Malor Sakand stared at this delightful thing. He and his warband had been hired by the rival of this forge world to eliminate their vat grown tyranid and this forge world’s Fabricator General for double payment in weapons. So, here he was, staring at the tiny thing that was an affront of humanity, he would have squashed it, but the thing spoke something interesting.

“By joining, who do you refer to, meat?”

“You and your kill-team? From the watch fortress?” Ninety-Nine said confusedly. “Are you not from Deff Watch?”

“Ah yes. I am. My kill-team has separated for now. Why have you come here?”

“To look for the grown tyranids.” Ninety-Nine answered obediently.

“They are here, I can confirm that.” Malor said. “I will be taking command now. You are to follow me, am I clear?”

Ninety-Nine nodded. Yet… something did not make sense. Why was the kill-team separated and why wasn’t she told? Then again, why did this battle-master look so different? They didn’t eat snacks like her! Ninety-Nine’s tiny brain (but soon to be big) sweated to add the details together. Think… think… think!

Difficulty: 9
Amount of rolls: 1
Dice: d10
Modifier: Intelligence +3

Reason: Ninety-Nine does know how the average loyalist astartes looks like, but she is used to listening to orders. This is a critical thinking moment for her. She does not know traitor astartes exist but knows that something is strange.
Success: +1 intelligence, Ninety-Nine will ask some questions which will make the Night Lord give up playing games which will lead to her hiding until he leaves.
Failure: Ninety-Nine will do what he says

Something was indeed wrong.

No one told Ninety-Nine about the arrival of a kill-team or heard of a kill-team being separated. Not to mention, no battle-masters enjoyed snacks like her, that she knew so far at least. Ninety-Nine paused, she looked up at the battle-master that just exuded something foul.

“Are you really a battle-master from the watch fortress?”

“Of course I am, you dare question me?” The battle-master brought his revving chain glaive. “I am your master.”

Ninety-Nine took a step back. “W—Who’s the leader of the watch fortress then?”

“I know who it is, it’s—”

The chain glaive descended with a mighty roar, its rotating fangs sunk into the floor as Ninety-Nine hopped out of the way. Ninety-Nine dodged in time then crawled back into the vents. It did not matter where she would head into. Not when the chain glaive bit through the vents with a revving snarl.

“Where do you think you’re going, little meat?”

A rasp laughter echoed through the vents. Ninety-Nine—

What, redeemed night lord? Crack fic territory. But then again, so is the tyranid monster girl, kind of. Often it's not about the character/event, it's about the way it's handled.
But those guys are so evil it's funny. They barely even care about chaos gods, they just want to murder, for fuck's sake. My favorite recreational terrorists.

Ninety-Nine continued to crawl and headed left. She kicked the vet down and dropped down. She saw a room full of dead tech-priests, torn limb to limb with jutting metal wires. Their lenses were dark, and the cold metal carcasses smelled of rust and rotting flesh.

“Little meat, where could you be?”

The voice cackled. Thankfully, the room’s door was closed but she heard the muffled sound of doors being slammed open and it grew closer and closer. Ninety-Nine looked around, seeking for a means to defend herself with the addition of her claws and fangs.

“Come out and you’ll die painlessly!”

Her heart thumped, the blood in her body rushed as something within her sped up her thoughts. She wanted to cry, but no tears would come out, only a jolt of energy that seemed to keep her mind forward. She looked at the dead tech-priests and their soldiers, holding their weapons tightly.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

The sound inched closer and closer, then… it stopped, silence. Ninety-Nine’s heart still beat, she saw the weapons beckoning.

One tech-priest held a curve handled ax and a spiky pistol, with one arm absent and the other dented and bent.

Another was a corpse that appeared smiliar to a skiitari but with black pins on its exposed head, the shattered lenses exposes a yellow eyeball with milky white pupils, this one held a bulky and short rifle with a bayonet.

The third tech-priest had its left half reduced to mush and corroded metal, holding an intact rifle with valves and pipes, dangling with all manners of strange charms and wires but it had a trigger and a sight. The weapon however would be too large to be sneaked through the vent. The weapons would make sound regardless if she pried them from their hands.

Ninety-Nine grabbed the big weapon, intending to open the door and hope the weapon would work. The weapon in her hand felt chunky, with bumps and edges that the strange weapon had. The wires either hung or connected into the barrel, with trange charms that had funny inscriptions. Ninety-Nine pulled the clenched finger as gently as she could, yet the fingers did not pry easily.

“Come on… please.” Ninety-Nine whispered to herself.

She grabbed the fingers and pulled again hard. The fingers pried open but with an audible snap, crackle, and pop. The sound echoed, ringing off the metal walls. Ninety-Nine quickly grabbed the gun and found the trigger and the sight. The stomping rumbled again and approached, faster, faster, faster…

The door opened with a bang. The astartes and Ninety-Nine locked eyes. Ninety-Nine pivoted, aimed the rifle in the general direction, and pulled the trigger. The rifle vibrated, the wires and charms trembled as the gun vibrated for a moment and it fired a green beam in a bright flash. Malor sidestepped the beam then thrust his chain glaive.

“Die!”

The beam missed its mark. The rifle’s unexpected recoil kicked Ninety-Nine’s footing into a direction that narrowly dodged the glaive. In the split second, there was a sense of clarity taht layered over fear. The adrenaline flooded her blood, pupils dilated, her mind told her to fight, yet her mind told her to run.

Heavy Ranged Weapons Proficiency I

Whenever Ninety-Nine uses a heavy ranged weapon, she is able to add one (subject to be changed) for a roll that has the option to use her weapons along with the modifier of Strength and other modifiers involved.

Ex.

Difficulty: 15
Amount of rolls: 1
Dice: d20
Modifier: Heavy Ranged Weapons Proficiency I, Strength

Reason: N/A
Success: N/A
Failure: N/A

Dice roll is 10

So

Heavy Ranged Weapons Proficiency I (+1) + Strength (+4) + Dice Roll (10) = 15

As Ninety-Nine grows, the rolls will be more difficult. But, she will have more skills to help. While I want this game to be fun and not stressful, I still want to give a challenge. If there is some concern anyone has, please let me know! I’m still learning this process!

Question: Do you feel the game is too easy or hard? Do you want to up the difficulty or lower it? What do you think of the difficulty I have for now?
>>
Ninety-Nine coiled her legs and tucked her tails between her legs, then hurled herself into the armor. Malor smirked,Malor was certain that this little thing can’t hurt an astartes like him. He watched the little monster curl and coil, staring at his eyes. In an instant, she launched herself.

“Come, deformed servant of the Corpse Emperor!”

A heavy blow struck his guts. Akin to a power fist or a thunder hammer, the bludgeoning blow dented his armor and sent his footing tumbling.

“HURGH!”

His feet caught one another and nearly fell. Ninety-Nine dodged another thrust and a swipe, she jumped back, crouched, then lunged again. Her claw cut through the ceramite but not deep enough to damage the flesh. Yet, the burning adrenaline told her to try again, and so she did. She could not explain the rush of energy, but that did not matter. Claw marks, tail dents, and even bite marks riddled the dark blue ceramite armor.

“You little arrogant meat bag!”

Malor screamed, yet he did not attack. Instead, he brought his glaive up, spread his feet about the width of his shoulders then shifted his shoulder back. No sound echoed, except for the humming rev of the chain glaive. The sudden rush deflated, exhaustion began to pull her down.

Ninety-Nine scrambled for her weapon, the Night Lord growled and chased. Before she could reach the weapon, she heard the rattling teeth of the chain glaive, she dove. The Night Lord swung his chain glaive again toward Ninety-Nine’s neck. Her arm blocked the way, the teeth slowly scooped through her exoskeleton. She smelled the iron. The glaive let out its revving screech that drowned her ears. The glaive thirsted for blood. Impure blood.

Ninety-Nine ducked. As she did, the chain glaive stuck on her arm peeled the exoskeleton off her arm like a scab then scraped her soft skin below. She yelped. Blood began to pour out, the floor sizzled. Ninety-Nine clutched her wounded arm. She eyed the vent, then to the weapon in hand. The Night Lord growled a rumbling chuckle.

“What’s wrong, meat?” Malor said. “Where did your bravery go?”

Ninety-Nine hissed.

“Adorable.” Malor said. “I admit… you were tougher than I thought. You will make for a great toy. I can’t wait to pluck your bone armor and flay you alive.”

Ninety-Nine dover for the vent. As she crawled through, the haunting laughter echoed.

“Run, run little meat! I will come for you! Ave Dominus Nox!”

Ninety-Nine delved deep within the vents, and sat in a spacious corner cornel, she curled her legs then wrapped her tail around her. As her heart ceased its pumping, a hot stream of tears flowed. Ninety-Nine covered her mouth to muffle her weeping. Ninety-Nine prayed to the God Emperor…

Ninety-Nine clasped her hands.

“Emperor… save me. I know I’m not supposed to ask for your help like, but I’m so scared. Please… please help me.”

The silent prayer continued.

There was silence. Ninety-Nine climbed back through the vent with a trembling heart. No sound echoed in the quiet facility. The wind blowed at the top of the outpost, Ninety-Nine waited for anyone to find her. She saw the barren landscape of the planet, a pale world with a dim sun. A constant shadow layered the dark planet.

“Where is everyone?” Ninety-Nine mumbled.

Emotions and energy drained from her body, all there was left was a panging emptiness that left her hungry. She saw the tall spooky and black mass from the horizon, and the ensuing lasers and flying vehicles. The battle was over there, not here, yet… she did not want to be there, she did not want to experience the piercing fears and despair.

An hour passed. Then two. Then three. Then, night. Ninety-Nine laid on the roof of the outpost, watching the lit skies and glowing beams from the black fortress. Surely, no one has forgotten about her, right?

And so she waited.

And waited.

Ninety-Nine prayed that The Emperor would give them the strength, or the Omnissiah, both were used interchangeably in her exhaustion soaked confusion. Ninety-Nine’s mouth stretched wide as a long yawn escaped. Suddenly, a rattling whirl sounded off from above. She looked up to see a drop ship floating above that beared the mechanicus symbol.

“Huh?”

Several armored men dropped. Their grav-chute hissed a blue flame, suspending them before they landed with a heavy thud. The tech-priests whispered a distorted rasp that Ninety-Nine could not understand. Their heads fixed forward, then their lenses moved to focus Ninety-Nine.

“Heed our words, child of the Omnissiah.”

Ceramite armor layered on top of the hooded red robes. The wires connected to their bodies swayed as their hulking bodies moved. They stood with a hunch, with one arm engulfed by a large metal weapon and other hand replaced by a sharp mechanized clamp.

“I— I heed.”

The tech-priest with three lenses nodded.

“Very well. We will take thee to the battlefield.”

The tech-priest’s mechadendrite wrapped Ninety-Nine then grabbed the rope that repel them back up. The ride to the fortress was quiet and smelled of incense and iron.

“Child of the Omnissiah. We, the priests of Auxilia Myrmidon, are sent forth by Archmagos Belisarius Cawl to aid Magos Faustinius. However, it is also to witness your growth. We will begin the arming ritual then the alpha trial of iron.”

Ninety-Nine was not sure what was going on. The tech-priests clasped the joints and welded the ceramites together, encasing Ninety-Nine in heavy ceramite armor.

“Omnissiah be praised, process complete.”

“This unit’s emotion inhibitors registered 79.876238% of righteous fury. This unit will allow itself half of it.” The tech priest said.

Autocannon don't have to be the massive 25-30+mm long-barrel monsters you find on AFVs and aircraft (those are for when we're all grown up). There are smaller options available like light AA guns that are basically large-calibre HMGs.

There are good examples of "man portable" autocannons and heavy stubbers in the deathwing game.

So the Vengence is probably what people mean by autocannon, and heavy stubber would be an assault cannon.

Greyfax was not having a good time.

Then again, ever since she woke up, she was not having a good time. From escaping Cadia then stopping a conspiracy within the Ecclesiarchy, to now this. Greyfax was not having a good time.

“What is the situation of the siege?”

“Siege craft reporting, 20.24% chance of breaking the gate within the three hours.” The skiitari reported.

Greyfax nodded. “Keep me updated.”

“Compliance.”

The command center of the field watch from a fair distance. Not too far from the battlefield, but close enough to move when she needed to. Greyfax and Magos Faustinius watched the portable cogitator set on the floor project the battlefield. Various vehicles and dots representing skiitari platoons stayed still. The distant booms and crack echoed and the ground trembled gently.

“They have yet to send their vile creations.” Greyfax said.

“They will be unleashed when my vanguards make their counter-attack.”

Greyfax tapped her crossed arms. “And I assume this will be when they send their chaos marines forth.”

Green light bathed Faustinius. “Indubitably.”

There was a reason why she was here. Instead of an Ordo Xenos inquisitor, she was here for a reason. The Ordo Xenos would get their due, after all, Kryptman was watching in the safety of his Watch Fortress and Subject Ninety-Nine was sent to be tested. However, Ordo Hereticus was involved due to the dark mechanicum, working with the chaos warbands known as—

Working with the chaos warbands known as The Magma Hounds, a Khornate warband. Formerly known as the Knights Excelsior, Greyfax received a brief report that they were lost and corrupted during an Abyssal Crusade, where they invaded a Dark Mechanicum world. In the later years, they then emerged as the Magma Hounds, a Khornate warband working with the Dark Mechanicum.

“I see no daemon engines yet either.” Greyfax said. “Magos, where is your vanguard?”

“They will arrive, these vanguards are unorthodox in their ways.”

Greyfax raised an eyebrow. “You are hardly a man of unorthodoxy.”

“In combat, adaptation and flexibility must be utilized in order to avoid unnecessary casualties.” Magos Fautinius said. “My emotional cores return dismay and anger when they are described as disposable. No servants of Omnissiah are ever disposable, thus it is written.”

“Magos. Inquisitor.” Sub-Domina Khephra said. “The vanguard has arrived.”

Suddenly, tolls of bells echoed. A binaric hymn sang from the voices of the vox waved through.

>Greyfax looked up to see a murder of Fusilave Archaeopter soar through the air and dodging attacks without fear. Greyfax looked at both Khephra and Faustinius in confusion.

A herd of Onager Dunecrawler stampeded across the field, tanking hits as they charged forward. The dusts rose in the wake of the stamping mechanical feets and treads. Wrathful missiles, plasma, and bolter shells smashed against the heretek fortress. Greyfax squinted her eyes, she saw Ninety-Nine on the gunner’s hatch firing as she bellowed a high pitched war cry. The only way she identified Ninety-Nine was her tail swinging like a dog.

“Magos, they are not under your command completely are they?”

“The company of Auxilia Myrmidon have been sent by the Archmagos. He has offered his priests in this endeavor.”

Greyfax sighed sharply then exhaled slowly. “Wonderful. Do keep me informed of this next time, Magos. I will not allow it a second time.”

Faustinius placed a hand on Khephras shoulders as her sharp glare and her feelt pivoted. Fautinius then spoke in a lingua technica. Greyfax assumed something insulting or secretive, but this was the nature of the Adeptus Mechanicus. The cogitator projected the positions of the heavy vehicles and the skiitari moved behind as the slow advance began.

“The gate has yet to be taken down.”

“Soon, inquisitor.” Khephra said.

The armored vehicles rolled through the battlefield. The shields and the armor took the corrosive attacks but did not stop their righteous path forward. Sub-Domnia Khephra hooked her neuro-control into the cogitator and commanded in holy binarics. Greyfax…

>Saw the Onager Dunecrawlers plant themselves in the open and fired their artillery shells at close range. The dark mechanicum’s gate was on the verge of its destruction. Ninety-Nine was beside one of the dunecrawlers, handing shells to the skiitari loaders.
>Saw the Onager Dunecrawlers move forward then stopped at a relatively safe distance and drew the fire of the fortress. Then the elite squads of skiitari flanked the fortress, placed melta charges on the weak points and rushed in with Ninety-Nine being part of the vanguard of a skiitari squad.

The next time we do missions involving Tyranids, is there a chance we can keep some as pets, or war mounts to aid us in combat?

An idea from an old Warhammer Planetary Governor Quest: the Governor had some admechs experimenting on tyranids, and they were fending off Drukari and their shittery. The admech pretty much put a shit ton of augment controllers in a big ass tyranid scythe form and had it go to town on the knife ears.

What I'd like to know is if we can sort of do the same. That is, force several Tyranids into compliance, lets the Mechanicus study them with relative safety while we're in close enough proximity to keep them from fighting back, and let the priests augment the Tyranids to hell?
>>
>>6137970
The first challenge would be to get the others to now shoot it on sight, which is never, ever going to happen. They barely tolerate us as-is.

By the way QM, which side of the Great Rift are we on? From the fact that people aren't eating each other, they have the resources to spend on Project 99 and there's regular communication to those with the biggest wigs, I guess we're in the Imperium Sanctus?
>>
>>6137970
>is there a chance we can keep some as pets, or war mounts to aid us in combat?
My dude, Kryptman is already burning a lot of goodwill just keeping us alive and unpurged, even on orders from Robogogo. There is a 0% chance of any nids being allowed to survive (dominated or not) once a mission's over.

The heat of the melta charges washed Ninety-Nine gently. The armor stirred as Ninety-Nine marched forward, her finger firmly held on to the trigger. The autocannon roared a thunderous boom, a stream of lightning and bullets rushed ahead of her. The bolts punched through the unprepared tech-priests and combat servitors, leaving sizable holes in Ninety-Nine’s wake of destruction.

“FOR THE EMPEROR!”

A mighty bellow echoed inside the fortress as the flanking skiitari squads and the priests of Auxilia Myrmidon charged. The dark red sky rumbled. The smell of gunpowder and burnt flesh whipped as the winds from the explosive impacts hit the fortress. The interior was similar to the outpost, dark metal walls, red oozes, green flames, and strung up corpses.

“We are the Omnissiah’s hammer and your time hath arrived!”

The priests of Auxilia Myrmidon unleashed their arsenals. A stream of melta, arcs of lightning, and pure explosive power swept the enemies of Man. Amongst the smell of war, Ninety-Nine caught a familiar scent but blander. She turned her head to a gate that slowly opened. A small horde of tyranid swarm rushed out. Ninety-Nine immediately rounded up the minds of the vat-tyranids… only to find nothing to grasp on to.

Empty. Soulless.

Empty. Soulless. Ninety-Nine tried again. Sifting through the empty minds, a small strand showed itself and she grabbed the strand. For a brief moment, she saw herself as if she was inside another body. She then saw the tech-priests of Auxilia Myrmidon and the skiitari, then the overwhelming firepower.

SNAP!

Ninety-Nine’s vision returned to her own. She shook her head and saw the pile of dead vat-tyranids. The Auxilia Myrmidon tech-priest tapped on her shoulder, his lenses adjusted with quiet hiss. The metal mask and the gas mask barely resembled a human face or its touch, yet Ninety-Nine felt some form of reassurance, or at least, concern for her.

“What stopped you from firing, child?”

“I… I tried to control them but they had no mind until I found one. But I saw through the brood-kin instead.”

The tech-priest cocked his head, then patted her head.

“Report that to your superior. We move forward.”

The total purge of the fortress began with Ninety-Nine in the front. Hereteks, vat-tyranids and corrupted combat servitors were purged with absolute hatred. After another section cleared, the same tech-priest pinned the vat-tyranid down.

“Try again.”

Ninety-Nine focused, once she found the strand the bit the hook then reeled the control in. Through the vat-tyranid’s eyes.

“Go scout ahead through this vent..”

Ninety-Nine nodded through the vat-tyranid then dove into the vent. The vat-tyranid slithered through the dark and cramped vent, and the slick ooze made the movement much easier. Heavy footsteps suddenly made her stop, Ninety-Nine looked through the vent’s opening. Red battle-masters.

“THE DARK-FORGEMASTER GAVE US THE ORDER WE ARE CLEAR TO ENGAGE!”

“BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULL FOR THE SKULL THRONE!”

Ninety-Nine snipped the connection, she saw no use when the battle-masters were already deep in.

“There are battle-masters already below!” Ninety-Nine said with a cheer. “We should go and meet them.”

“How did they appear?”

“Red and gold, they have really nice colors.” Ninety-Nine said. “They said a weird chant but I’m sure they were just really excited.”

“What did they say?”

“Blood for the blood god! Skull for the skull throne!” Ninety-Nine said with the same fervor as the ones she listened to then giggled. “I know some chapters are different but they sure are odd.”

“Ninety-Nine, report to—”

The ground rumbled. The iron doors that led to the next section of the fortress broke open. The battle-masters arrived. Yet, she saw the skiitari and the tech-priests fire. Ninety-Nine had no time to react as the heretic astartes charged with blinding speed. The skiitaris died within seconds of the astartes assault.

Ninety-Nine was no fool.

If bad-astartes like that skull face existed, then so would other bad astartes. Ninety-Nine did not understand how they became so, but she knew they were enemies.

Ninety-Nine released the autocannon then removed her gauntlets, then roared. The khornate astartes ignored the small chirp, their bloodthirst aimed not at Ninety-Nine, but at the skiitari and the Auxilia Myrmidon tech-priests. After all, all they saw was a tiny armored skiitari. Who cared?

“FOR THE EMPEROR!”

Ceramites clashed. Plasma seared the air. Flesh and metal scattered. The fangs of the chain ax clashed against the mechanicum power axes, sparks flew as two enhanced humans engaged in a deadly dance of dueling. Sparks flew as the chain greedily chewed chunks of metal and meat. No astartes however, saw Ninety-Nine, after all, all they saw was a tiny armored skiitari. Who cared?

They soon did.

“RRRRGAHGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!”

The khornate astartes raised his leg back and swung his leg forward. Instead of a successful kick, he saw the small skiitari stick on his shin. The astartes then saw it. Claws sinking into his ceramite armor, and a long tail wrapping around his leg. This was no skiitari.

“GARGH GET OFF OF ME FILTH!”

Ninety-Nine then climbed up to his helmet. Her tail wrapped the astartes’s throat. Ninety-Nine first stripped the helmet. Then, her claws scooped his face one handful at a time, red gunks layered her talons as she scraped for the creamy pink center.

Ninety-Nine jumped off and looked for a new prey. The giant astartes, given the power of Khorne with gene-seeds to make the astartes a demi god stood still. The caved head squelched, gurgled, then collapsed with a metal thud. Ninety-Nine licked the red ooze covered hand then searched the battlefield. In the midst of plasma and chains, Ninety-Nine saw the astartes fighting a squad of skiitari.

“DIE DIE DIE!”

The chain ax filled its teeth, shredding the servants of the Omnissiah in a blind rage. Ninety-Nine sprinted in all four arms, in the last moment she pivoted then whipped her body the other way to swing her tail. The pointed end lodged deep into the exposed joint, the astartes growled. Before a word could be uttered, the skiitari’s galvanic rifles shots punctured the heretic in a deadly volley. The skiitaris gave a brief nod and moved on to the next opponents.

“BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULL FOR THE SKULL THRONE!”

A wave of red spilled through iron doors. The battle continued. While she did not kill another astartes, her small stature allowed for sneak attacks that pried an opening for counter attacks.

“Get that meat!”

A swarm of astartes sprinted toward Ninety-Nine. The chain axes teeth revved, and their blood crazed eyes locked on to her.

Ninety-Nine prayed briefly, then prepared for the onslaught head on. She stood her ground then raised her arms. As the first chain ax came close, the teeth chomped at her exoskeleton slowly scraping the bones. A maul suddenly came from the side, knocking Ninety-Nine off her feet and sending her flying across the floor then slammed on the wall. The world spun, and as Ninety-Nine shifted her head up, she saw the faint outline of the astartes’s feet before another impact.

The kick shut her jaws and sent her tiny body on the wall again. The world did not spin anymore, it darkened. Something cold trickled from her head to her chin. Ninety-Nine’s throat tightened in the chaos marine’s grip. Ninety-Nine’s arms flailed, her feet and tail swung wildly, yet she could not pull her strength back up.

“FINISH IT!”

The astartes hurled Ninety-Nine across. Another astartes slammed his chain ax down and pinned her on the ground. The teeth greedily chewed on her stomach, revving with a bloodthirsty purr. It would not be long until her armor would crack open.

With the last drops of strength, Ninety-Nine wrapped her tail on the chain ax and pushed the handle with her feet. In an act of desperation, the chain ax lifted just enough for her body to skitter out. Her green blood coated her skin, and slipped through the cracks of her exoskeleton. With all four limbs, Ninety-Nine sprinted away and saw the khornate astartes follow. She planted her feet and raised her claws. She had nowhere to run, but she knew if she ran away it would make Hive-Father angry. And if she died…

At least she made him proud.

The darkness did not pull her in. Ninety-Nine kept her eyes forward and prepared for a battle. The ground rumbled, metal and chunks of flesh scattered and seared. The smell of putrid death and toxic smoke wafted in the air. A red stampede made their way in their bloodthirsty craze. Ninety-Ninee inhaled, then let out an unhinged scream of her own and charged forward.

Suddenly, an explosion ripped through the red marauders. The shockwave threw Ninety-Nine back on her stomach. Ninety-Nine pushed herself up and saw the unfolding carnage.

The gates opened. The Onager Dunecrawlers blew through the opening and the gates that the fortress held opened. The skiitari reinforcement swiftly moved in and eliminated the remaining khornate astartes. The vanguard skiitari drowned the khornate astartes in skin melting radiation, the skiitari rangers picked the Khorn knights with precise headshots.

One astartes made a rush to Ninety-Nine, only for a stake to pierce his skull. A familiar yet different sound of bolter fire spat. A crackling hiss then a high pitched zoom lit the air in blue light. Ninety-Nine saw the unfolding battlefield and the quick decimation of the remaining enemies.

“So the vat-tyranids are here as well as the Magma Hounds.” Greyfax said. “Where is the weapon?”

“Here. Inquisitor.” A skiitari said.

One of the skiitari waved beside Ninety-Nine. Mangos Faustinius and Inquisitor Greyfax saw Ninety-Nine’s broken body. A web of cracks slit her exoskeleton. An oozing green blood trickled from her abdomen, and one of her eyes swelled into a purple bruise. Ninety-Nine tried to speak, revealing her missing fangs.

“We have confirmation of the vat-tyranids, but we need to delve further. Without Ninety-Nine’s ability, there will be more risk without its ability.” Magos Faustinius said “Part of the cooperation was to give Ordo Xenos requested a live subject, which she can control. Ninety-Nine is a valuable tool in this endeavor.”

“It is damaged, and cannot function without repair as well.” Greyfax said. “She— It, needs rest.”

“I concur. Much needs to be done before my skiitaris explore the underground. We shall—”

Greyfax and Faustinius saw Ninety-Nine crawl toward one of the corpses. The skiitari, confused by the situation, watched. They saw Ninety-Nine open her jaw and bite into the corpses’s…

If we're running off of instinct going for the calorie-dense organs makes the most sense. I presume we don't get the others because they say "WHAT THE FuCK" and tear us off?

Also, I just realized... If we're getting benefits without having to crawl into a pod and reconstitute ourselves we're a basically Kroot, but I'd bet that, due to SUPERIOR TYRANID DNA MUAHAHA we get to pick and choose the good bits of DNA instead of taking the good AND the bad. Basically what I'm saying is 99 should go on a galaxy-wide safari for good bonus traits. Endgame is deathworlds, like Catachan. Maybe we can make the excuse of testing if there really are broken-off Tyranids there.

Inquisitor Katarinya Greyfax saw many things.

A tyranid-human hybrid chewing a Khornate heretical astarte’s chest and digging into his cavities was new. Faustinius and his cohorts also stared in awe. This weapon was evolving, no, the child of the Omnissiah was growing. Half weapon, half flesh, guided by the Motive Force, led by the Quest For Knowledge, and the miracle granted by the Machine God: Ninety-Nine was born.

Ninety-Nine had to be.

“Are you not stopping this… monstrosity?”

“The child is evolving.” Faustinius said. “This too, is the will of the Omnissiah.”

Greyfax watched the fangs dig through the flesh. She no longer saw the scared little thing with the eyes of a lost child, but a beast driven by its instinct. Her hand slowly went to her condemnor boltgun, sanctioned or not, this thing was an abomination. If it could kill an astartes now, it could be a threat to the Imperium.

“Ah…” Ninety-Nine fell on her back and let out a loud burp. “That’s better.”

“Subject Ninety-Nine.” Faustinius said firmly. “Can you continue.”

“Yes.” Ninety-Nine rose to her feet. “I can continue.”

The priest of Auxilia Myrmidon carried Ninety-Nine in his arms. The rest of the exploration ended successfully, with Ninety-Nine bringing a live vat-tyranid into the ship. Ninety-Nine was placed in a healing tank soon after, as she lost her consciousness her eyes fluttered close.

She woke up in a farm, where chains bound a very tall and blind man. A dark sky loomed over, not a speck of light illuminated. The only way she navigated were her eyes that adjusted to the dark. She walked around and observed the man, then saw his lifeless and static face. Ninety-Nine did not smell any decomposition, but something told her that he was alive.

“Helluwu?” Ninety-Nine said.

The man's despondent eyes shifted ever so slightly.

“You… you are Subject Ninety-Nine…” The man said, he saw the chains and the farmlands. “I see… this is a dream. Even in a dream I am mocked.”

Ninety-Nine cocked her head. “Why don’t you just take the chains off?”

“If it were so simple…” The man chuckled.

Ninety-Nine bit into the chain, only to have her fangs pass through. Ninety-Nine followed the man’s gaze. A beautiful farm was ahead, with golden fields, warm sunshine under a blue cloudless sky. She saw the same man toiling in the field, carrying bushels of wheat and sacks of freshly dug root vegetables. Season in, season out.

“What the?”

“Duty. Do you know what that means, child?” The man said.

“It’s doing what needs to be done like what I’ve been doing?”

“Yes… that’s what binds me.” Guilliman said. “I envy you, knowing that, being content with that.”

“Do you want a hug?”

“No.”

The cogs in Ninety-Nine’s brain turned, along with the mouse running on the wheel that ran her brain operational.

"If you won't take them off, then why don't you do something to make them less uncomfortable?"

“It is not so simple.”

“Then why not make it simple?”

Ninety-Nine opened her eyes.

The room’s cold air tickled her skin. Ninety-Nine squinted as she saw the bright white lights above. Ninety-Nine jumped off the metal pod. This white room full of medical equipment was the infirmary examination room. A place she had been before many times during her observation. The window reflected her sharper visage, and her taller body. Ninety-Nine used to see her head on the window. Ninety-Nine approached close to the reflective window.

“Is this me?”

Kryptman watched Subject Ninety-Nine examining herself, like when an animal would see their reflection for the first time. In his hand was a clipboard showcasing the sudden growth spurt due to the consumption of heretical astartes geneseed. The moment the Lord Commander heard of it, he nearly called her destruction. It was by unknown reasons her purge was canceled.

“Research log ten number 1046. Subject Ninety-Nine grew in a span of weeks despite her slow rate of growth of her first phase, a geneseed consumption was all that she needed. A heretical astartes geneseed at that, yet she showed no sign of corruption so far.”

Her height from four feet became five. Muscle and exoskeleton density also increased. Ninety-Nine no longer resembled a child, but a young teenager on the cusp of her first steps of maturity. The brain activity also developed further, and oddly enough, she grew longer hair.

“Subject Ninety-Nine’s imitation of human growth proves to be both disturbing and intriguing.” His face scrunched in pure revulsion. “What have I created?”

After three days of further examination, Ninety-Nine was brought to a specialsit within the Watch Fortress, an invitation by

Chaplain Gabriel did not know what to think of Subject Ninety-Nine. There was an odd twinge of pride when he heard of Ninety-Nine’s achievement. One confirmed kill of a heretical astartes, sure, the number was measly but the fact that she did indeed kill an astartes sprouted a small bud of pride within his hearts. Gabriel stood in front of a broken sword held by a rack.

“Brother-Chaplain.” A deep bass voice said.

“Brother Casus.” Gabriel said. “Welcome back. Are you in need of a council or have you come to pray?”

“To pray… and to ask a question.”

The Reclusiasm of the watch fortress was a hexagon shaped, with plenty of spaces for each battle-brothers to kneel and pray. On the carved wall, relics of the watch fortress were raised high by auramite racks and banner holders. In front of the relic displays was a raised platform and a ceramite pulpit, devoid of chapter markings, for the chaplains of the Death Watch cared for all his battle-brothers.

“Speak your question, brother.”

“I have heard a disturbing report that Subject Ninety-Nine has consumed a heretical geneseed by the apothecary.” The deep voice trembled with unquenchable rage. “Why are we allowing it to live?”

“Because I will see if she has corrupted myself.”

“It’s only a matter of time before she—”

“Lieutenant.” Gabriel said with a chilling tone. “I understand your concern. However, raising your voice inside the Reclusiasm will not be allowed. Respect your brother’s peace here.”

“Chaplain Gabriel?”

Gabriel turned around. Ninety-Nine now stood taller than before, her voice rang clearer. Her body shaped into that of a growing female. The long hooded robe hid most of her features, though if given a closer look under the hood one could see the disgusting visage of the half breed weapon. Chaplain Gabriel approached.

“We will speak another time, Lieutenant.” Gabriel said.

“We shall.”

“Ninety-Nine, come.”

Chaplain Gabriel and Ninety-Nine walked a staircase that led to an empty room beneath. Ninety-Nine saw an astartes in the same armor, except decorated with various skins and bones of xenos. Another chaplain stood with the same armor but with a red left pauldron with a droplet shape flanked by pair of wings.

“I didn’t know there were other chaplains.”

“Subject Ninety-Nine. You have been accused of heresy." Chaplain Gabriel said. "How do you plead?”

"H—Heresy? I didn't do anything!"

"How. Do. You. Plead."

The three chaplains surrounding Ninety-Nine awaited, holding their crozius.

With tears in her eyes, Ninety-Nine avoided the gazes of the chaplains. Her hands folded together as her tails coiled around her legs. Their red slits of their skull helmets stared, awaiting for her sins.

"I ate something I shouldn't have... something bad."

"And what is that?" The red pauldroned chaplain said.

"A battle-master's corpse."

The chaplains shared a glance. Strangey enough, they shared no reaction or some kind of smell that made her afraid. The very lack of it, the sheer indifference, drove a bigger stake in her heart.

"Continue."

"Then..." Her eyes closed tight. "I ran away from a fight."

Ninety-Nine awaited for their admonishment. Yet again, she heard none. Ninety-Nine continued.

"I wandered off sometimes when Hive-Father wouldn't notice. And I threw away a gun specifically made for me. I gave up on the colored cube from Clay, I did that thing where you tap a servitor's shoulder as you move past them so the servitor would be confused. I even tripped a servitor because the way they flop is hilarious to me..."

The chaplains shared another glances. The matters of spirit did not matter as much to them for an experiment. It may walk and talk, but they knew it had no soul. The chaplains only invited the weapon to see her purity. Gabriel's insistence was their main reason for attending as well as the exceptional circumstance.

"From now on, any thoughts or misbehaviors will be reported to Chaplain Gabriel. Whatever your thoughts, am I clear?"

"Y—Yes... Chaplain."

Ninety-Nine returned to her room. As she climbed up the stairs with Gabriel, she glimpsed at the banners hanging above.

"Can I pray here?"

"This is for the battle-brothers. Not for you.” Chaplain Gabriel said. “You are dismissed.”

“Oh.” Ninety-Nine’s tail drooped down. “I understand…”

To be a Blackshield was a mark of shame, penance, something that Gabriel knew much about.

“Gabriel.”

“Zadkiel.”

The chaplain who bore the mark of the Blood Angel’s heraldry, Zadkiel, removed his helmet. A wave of shoulder length blonde hair spilled from the helmet. The sharp features of Zadkiel softly gazed at his colleague and battle brother. Gabriel did not remove his helmet.

“You are shaken, brother.”

“I… I am.” Gabriel said. “I do my best but to be burdened with that thing. I wonder if this too, is my test.”

“This too, is your punishment, brother. Until we meet again.”

Gabriel stood alone inside the empty room. He removed his helmet, revealing a pale complexion. Sharp nose, almond shaped eyes, red lips, jet black hair, Gabriel’s face, much like his brothers, would captivate any mortals who would see his visage. Handsome and pure, a rare trait among astartes except for a long running scar across his face. Gabriel closed his eyes.

He remembered standing here, before the previous chaplain who took him as his student.
>>
“Angels Resplendent, was it?”

Chaplain stood before kneeling Gabriel. The astartes’s scarred face.

“I was.”

“Your brothers who remained pure formed the Angels Penitent, yet you left. Why is that?”

“They began to practice self-mutilations, abandoning practices to control the red thirst that goes back since the first founding. Brother betrayed brothers at the hint of disagreement in the chapter’s dogma. This was not the future of what my primarch would want.” Gabriel said.

“You hide in shame.” The chaplain said. “You believe that only death will redeem you.”

“No.” Gabriel shook his head slowly. “It will be atonement.”

“Atonement does not have to be death. There is much work required in this Watch Fortress. Try as we might, even we can stand at the brink of despair and mournful rage.” The chaplain knelt beside and placed his hand on his shoulder. “Death is not the only way to atone. When Sangunius reunited with his Terran sons, he did not abandon or isolate them. He nurtured them and taught them to control their blood thirst. There is always a different way to serve,”

“And what fate do you have for me?”

The chaplain stood then extended his hand.

“There is only one way to find out.”

The cafeteria consisted of the battle-brothers. Be it nutrient paste, some food from the Merchant Fleet or whatever brought back from the world a kill-team had save, the cafeteria of the Watch Fortress was always busy. Ninety-Nine stared herself in the mirror, admiring the new change in her body, for today from now on, she was allowed to roam the facility with limited freedom.

“Hmm hmm hmm.” Ninety-Nine hummed.

Ninety-Nine stared at her taller body, the faint curves, the sharper features of her face. Yet… the white and purple exoskeleton remained. She looked closer to a human, yet she was not. Her claws, fangs and tail proved so. Ninety-Nine opened her mouth, saw the fangs and the long prehensile tongue then closed her mouth. She sighed, then picked up a newly made robe delivered yesterday.

I can at least hide my tail…

Ninety-Nine draped herself in a long red and white robe, making sure most of her features were hidden a s much as possible then placed a red mask to hide the lower half of her face. Ninety-Nine looked at the mirror once more.

That’s better.

Inside the cafeteria, Ninety-Nine walked to a station where a line of servitor stood.

“A plate of today’s special and amino-porridge please.”

“Compliance.”

Ninety-Nine carried the two large plates.

“Watch it, worm.”

An astartes shoved past. Ninety-Nine’s footing stumbled as her feet intertwined with the fabric of her robe.

“Disgusting filth.”

Ninety-Nine closed her eyes as her body hit the floor. The clanging metal echoed and her robe was layered with amino porridge and slick oils of the meat. Tears welled in her eyes as she heard a faint trail of laughter, now gone within the other astartes. Ninety-Nine stood back up then pulled the robes closer. She saw the yellow pauldron staring with a smarmy grin, along with two others, one with a bronze pauldron with a horned beast.

Then a familiar pauldron watched from the side, Mawsl and the kill team from Eve, along with Kill Team Ultra also stood on the side, watching. Then, another astartes with the darkest skin she has ever seen.

[Lore Breaking Warning.]

Amberley Vail was a patient woman. Being an Inquisitor she was plenty experienced. Whether it be exterminating xenos or working with Ciaphas Cain, patience was always a part of her arsenal. Her mentor however was different. Every inquisitor who discovered her mentor always had a strange look, as if questioning her perfectly normal sanity. More so due to the recent years.

“See how she exhibits human emotions?” Kryptman said. “It is fascinating yet revolting.”

Inside Kryptman’s research room, they watched the vict security-lenses of the cafeteria. The room smelled of sterile medicine and a heavy scent of musty parchments. The various samples of tyranids were suspended in a jar of thick blue liquid. Vail stood at the wall of cogitators, specifically at the security screen where Ninety-Nine was.

“Fascinating?”

Vail knocked her eyebrow up in a questioning gaze, then continued to watch the cogitator screen of the cafeteria. She nearly gasped when Ninety-Nine was pushed on to the ground by the astartes. Vail watched the creation… the young Ninety-Nine stood back up with her bowl of amino porridge. Ninety-Nine took a step forward, but tripped due to the robe and most likely the slick floor.

“Don’t…” Vail whispered. “Just go home.”

Vail did not have to be a psyker to see the young girl’s pain as she stood back up. The robe slipped off as Subject Ninety-Nine ran off full speed. The body was not as bad as she thought it was. Strange for sure, but disgusting or some abomination? She’d seen abominations before, and none cried over being tripped or insecure of her body.

“She’s a weapon, nothing more nothing less. Do not let your emotions guide you.” Kryptman said.

“Have you been allowing this to happen?”

“The astartes call her an abomination because she is an abomination. I see no reasons to stop them. It needs to know its place.” Kryptman said.

“You realize you did not create a weapon but a living being, with feelings and sentience.” Vail said. “By the Throne, I wouldn’t be surprised if she escapes!”

“She won’t.”

Vail crossed her arms. The black body suit reflected the dim light in Kryptman’s research room, especially her inquisitorial rosette. The short fur cape was tied together, giving her extra warmth inside the cold room.

“Well she’s too dangerous to leave it to chance.” Vail said.

“Where are you going?” Kryptman said.

Vail sntached the tracker on the cogitator’s console. “To do your job.”
>>
Vail grabbed a nutrition paste packet and several sugar cubes from her retinue. Vail followed the tracker’s pulsing radar, and ended up at a tucked corner past the wall of pipes where no drop of light reached. The metal floor echoed with Vail’s clacking heel and mournful blubbering.

“Ninety-Nine?” Vail said softly.

Vail raised her lantern high, yet she did not find a trace of Ninety-Nine. There was silence.

This seems like it has the least chance to go bad somehow. Also, it seems pretty in character for Amberely to immediately help out the little "abomination" despite her continued jabs at radicals in the books

“I’m Amberely Vail, I’m an inquisitor, can we talk?” Vail brought out a small sack of sugar cubes and a nutrition paste packet. “I have some candy and food if you’d like.”

Vail heard a skitter, tiny tappings of talons and claws. She held her breath and stood still. The sound came from behind, then above, and slowly to the front. Vail saw the figure cloaked in darkness emerge. White and purple exoskeleton, hooked shaped claws, and a long tail with an armor crushing hammer end. And a pair of two large eyes with dark sclera and golden pupils.

“What's a candy?”

Amberely brought out a sugar cube from the sack.

“This is candy. Try one.”

Subject Ninety-Nine plopped her mouth as Amberely was holding the sugar cube. Amberely saw the brief maw of jagged fangs open. That was the mouth that chewed through the astarte’s flesh and bones. She looked at her saliva covered hand free from any scratch or scrape.

“I’ve never had anything like this before! Do you have any more?”

“You can have the whole thing.” Amberely gently grasped Ninety-Nine’s hand then placed the sack of sugar cube and nutrition paste packet in her hand. “Try to savor them when you can. And I thought you’d be hungry.”

Ninety-Nine ripped the packet and swallowed the content in a flash, then looked back up with a confused gaze.

“Why are you nice to me?”

The question squeezed her heart. Amberely pulled Ninety-Nine into a warm embrace. Ninety-Nine stood confusedly, then wrapped her arms around Amberley tight. The warmth of a flesh, Ninety-Nine never knew such thing existed. Something welled up, the corners of her eyes became hot, prickly, then tears rolled down her cheeks. Yet, this was not sadness, but something more… complex.

“It’s been hard, hasn’t it?”

Ninety-Nine buried her head into Amberely’s shoulder, nuzzling into her curled locks of blond hair that smelled of flowers. A raw, throat wrenching cry echoed. One that only Amberely heard.

“What’s it like outside?”

Amberely sipped on her flask at the cafeteria table and Ninety-Nine sat across. No astartes sat near and did not care to listen. Ninety-Nine was dressed in a new black and red hooded robe, nursing a cup of steaming sweet tea in a steel cup. The white light buzzed, casting a shadow that shrouded Ninety-Nine’s face.

“You’ve been outside, haven’t you?”

“But I never got to see around.”

Amberely noted Ninety-Nine’s limit of her knowledge.

“There are plenty of worlds. Hive world, forge world, agri world, there’s a lot.” Amberely said. “What kind of world do you want to visit?”

Ninety-Nine twiddled her thumbs.

“Where I can make friends.”
Amberley knew should a Tau platoon found her, Ninety-Nine would have been whisked away and would be a dangerous asset for them. Ninety-Nine was so far, a simple girl, raising her in a cold Watch Fortress under Kryptman was a bad idea. She needed guidance, not from a Chaplain of the Death Watch but from someone who can relate or at least have empathy and understand Ninety-Nine as a girl, not a weapon. Amberley ran her hand over Ninety-Nine’s exoskeleton crown.

“You do have a friend, me.”

Ninety-Nine’s tail whipped back and forth.

“You… you mean it?”

Amberely could not dodge the incoming tackle-hug, and found herself with her back on the floor and staring up at the ceiling.

A week after Amberely’s departure, Ninety-Nine was summoned to Terra. A conclave have been declared, where Ninety-Nine and Kryptman have been summoned. However, Ninety-Nine was first sent to…

Cato Scicarius arrived with a reinforced ceramite container pulled by the grav cart.

“From the Center Hub of the Sactum Imperialis, my liege.”

Past the central hub of the Sanctum Imperialis was the Sanctum Imperialis Principa, where only the privileged few could enter, not even the High Lords could enter without permission from The Emperor. Meaning, no mortal man has entered for ten millennia.

“Thank you Captain Sicarius.”

Until now. This hall of history was where the primarch and the princess once stood, laughing and socializing during the Great Crusade. Ferrus, Rogal, Sanguinius, Leman, and Pangea, his dead brothers that formed his Dauntless Few. They would at times gather here for all kinds of discussions. Be it strategies, philosophies, or Pangea teasing Rogal and Ferrus for being so rigid.

“If I may ask, my lord. What is inside?”

“A weapon to battle the tyranid. Open the cage. And captain?”

“My lord?”

“Do not attack her.”

Cato Scicarius opened the box, he recoiled at Subject Ninety-Nine inside. Guilliman, with his height, saw Ninety-Nine inside the box.

“Ninety-Nine?” Guilliman said.

Ninety-Nine gasped.

>“You’re the farmer! Are you out of your chains now?”

Will be added to with a bit of variation of it
>>
“You’re out of the chains now Mr Farmer! What are you doing here? Are you also here to see the Lord Commuwunder?”

Guilliman squinted his eyes, then he remembered the dream. Bound by a chain and Ninety-Nine was… His eyes widened ever so slightly. Subject Ninety-Nine was able to enter his dreams, a psykic ability most likely inherited from the Zoanthrope or… the corrupted geneseed.

“Insolence.” Cato snarled, he drew his Talassarian Tempest Blade. “My liege, this abomination must be punished, an arm or an eye. To call you something so peasantry like a farmer!”

Ninety-Nine saw the absolute hate in Cato’s eyes, something she was well used to. With a quick hop Ninety-Nine crawled out of the box and tried to run. The hard and smooth floor made gaining traction on her feet and hands difficult. Cato followed with his blade drawn.

“Captain Sicarius!” Guilliman said firmly. “Subject Ninety-Nine!”

They both stopped. Except for Ninety-Nine who slid across the floor and slammed into a wall.

“That child has defeated chaos astartes and has controlled a lichtor. Do not harm her.” Guilliman said. “Ninety-Nine. Come.”

Ninety-Nine followed the farmer and Captain Sicarius. Inside a grand and golden throne room, Ninety-Nine had to be called several times to keep up. At the throne, the farmer sat.

“Come closer, Ninety-Nine.” Guilliman said.

“Isn’t that the Lord Commander’s seat?” Ninety-Nine said.

“I am Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of The Ultramarine.”

Ninety-Nine gasped.

“Then… why am I here?”
“You are here to be examined as a conclave commences. You will first…”

Varro Tigurius was stalwart in all his doings. After saving The Rock, he was recalled by his Liege before another crusade could be launched.

Hungry.

When Lord Primarch brought Subject Ninety-Nine into the librarius to test for corruption, he took the unfolding event with dutiful strides. He ordered the thing at the center of an open space of his temporary study to scry its mind. To eat a heretical gene seed and survive certainly had to be something never heard of in all of history.

But can’t move.

Varro examined closer, the memories of the weapon was nothing special, tad sympathetic at times but nothing special. By The Emperor, was its mind so simple, it gave him a tiny headaches trying to make sense of her thoughts. Try as he might, Varro found no corruption stirring or hiding within Ninety-Nine.

Want to play. Will he play? No.

The bundle of manufactured flesh remained peaceful. Either she did not think or had the same immunity to the corruption due to her tyranid origin.

“You are dismissed, Ninety-Nine. Captain, you may escort her back.”

Sicarius did not speak and turned around. Ninety-Nine quickly followed back. Dressed in a hooded red robe, Ninety-Nine’s eyes darted everywhere.

>The fuck? Where did that come from? Did she know? No! It's inconceivable! This creature couldn't possibly know his secret! That he, Cato Sicarius, had learned his incredible swordsmanship from studying the movements of farmers!
>Only he had seen the subtle truths in the workings of the farmers tools! The thrust of the pitchfork, the reaping of the grain, even the sowing of the seeds contained the fundamental movements of the primal mans understanding the martial ways! In a farmer's hands, any tool could become a weapon of war, usually in response the new taxes, and from these tools came the evolution of any and all martial weapons!

>He had never revealed this to anyone! Had this child really seen through his form and deduced its origin?

>He glared at Ninety-Nine, "No, I'm not a farmer you little fool! The only hoes I've ever touched are the ones who ride my dick!"

Ninety-Nine stared at Cato. The astartes had thick luscious hair and a thick beard, just like farmers that she read about in her Ciaphas Cain picture books. He’s large and tough, so is farming. More and more evidence began to click into places. This astartes was also secretly a farmer.

“Why are you staring, thing?”

Ninety-Nine averted her gaze.

“I uh… Are you a farmer too?”

He learned down, his hand on the hilt of his sword. The twisted scowl on his face struck Ninety-Nine into silence as her shoulders tensed and her body shrinking down. She saw his hand reaching to the pommel of his sword. He leaned down, with furious glare burning in his eyes.

“You call me a low born again, I’ll break you. Do you hear me, creature?”

Ninety-Nine nodded frantically. The rest of the walk was silent. Later on, Ninety-Nine was placed into a small room of her own. When the door opened, a blue astartes told her to follow him. Two hours of traversing the Imperial Palace later she was led to Ecclesiarchal Palace. Ninety-Nine saw women in black armor and white hair lined up on each side toward the entrance. A dark skinned woman with curly white hair approached.

“Follow me, Ninety-Nine.”

Ninety-Nine was led through the narrow halls that smelled of sweet and ashy incense.

“Sit there and wait.”

The room inside was small and empty with no windows. Ninety-Nine sat at the metal table and waited. Few minutes later, a woman entered. Dressed in a black, skin tight suit with long flowing black hair. Ninety-Nine’s tail wagged as she saw this beautiful woman entered with the kindest of smiles. She sat on the chair across the table.

“Hello Ninety-Nine.” The woman said. “I am Sister Catherine. You may refer to me as Sister Catherine or Sister.”

“N—Nice you meet yuw, Sister Catherune.”

“Catherine.”

Ninety-Nine cocked her head.

“It is pronounced, Cath-Er-Ine.” Her red lips formed the words. “Repeat after me. Cath-Er-Ine.”

Ninety-Nine followed the lip movement.

“Cath-Er-Ine.”

Sister Catherine nodded in approval.

“There you go.” She retrieved a small white ball with other colors splotched on from her pouch. “Take it. It’s candy. This is an ancient Terran candy known as a jawbreaker.”

Ninety-Nine took the candy and immediately chewed on the brittle ball with a tasty crunch.

“Why is it called jawbreaker?” Ninety-Nine said.

“I… I wonder that myself.” Sister Catherine harrumphed. “Ninety-Nine, are there any subjects you are interested in learning?”

On one hand, she largely accepts whatever she's told by people who she's told to listen to (farm conspiracy notwithstanding). On the other, I think she would struggle to accept the Imperial Cult's view of the Emperor as a god since she has been specifically told by her handlers that the Emperor is not a god and has acted on her understanding of the Emperor against the Tyranids. To a lesser extent, she hasn't particularly embraced the Mechanicus' teachings, generally favoring her initial understanding of the Emperor and the Imperium.
On the third, mutant hand, she has explicitly prayed to the Emperor before despite being told not to. How she reconciles all this is up in the air. My guess is that she'll form a concept of the Emperor as a unique godlike being that isn't actually a god (which wouldn't be that far from the truth).

Sister Catherine went through two augmentation. One at twenty five as a Sister Superior, suffering a shot in the stomach. Another at age sixty three as a Canoness during an ork invasion where her insides were mangled by a ork choppa. Her body, warped and wounded, could no longer fight. So, she became a respected Sister of Orders Famulous, using her experience and reputation to carefully craft the next generation of leaders.

“I…” Catherine watched the thing twiddle her thumbs. “I want to make more friends, can I learn that?”

“Friends?”

“Mmhm.” Ninety Nine nodded.

One of her student of a special case, Alethia Altair Amadeus, The Undersecretary of The Administratum, contacted her for a once in a millenia opportunity: To indoctrinate a living weapon. The hood on Ninety-Nine hid most of her feature, but she saw the disgusting glimpse of her exoskeleton body, and her hideous face. The child was a mutant… no, that’d be an insult for an Emperor’s servant. She was an abhuman, weapon?

“I can’t help you make friends, but I can give you the tools and lessons to do it.”

Catherine retrieved a set of teaching tools and a chalkboard. She wrote various letters and went through the pronunciations with great patience. She held the urge to shoot Ninety Nine when she saw her fangs that killed an abominant and the claws that maimed heretical astartes. The only reason why she accepted this job was after reading Ninety Nine’s Vermillion Alpha records of her and her battles, each battle cry for the Emperor swelled her heart.

“Good day.” Catherine said.

“Good day.” Ninety Nine mimicked.

“Excellent, don’t forget to keep your tone at the same level.”

The lessons went on… In one lesson, she managed to fix most of her speech problems, most of it at least. At the end, Ninety Nine was picked up by an Ultramarine astartes. Ninety Nine waved as she left, despite her crude appearance, Ninety Nine was a fast learner. And…

[His Loyal Servant] Unlocked!

Catherine could not help find the child admirable. Slaying tyranids and its dangerous variants to killing heretical astartes and the hereteks, all while being treated like a mutant but her love for The Emperor remained pure. Catherine wiped the corner of her eyes, was this not what all servant of The God-Emperor should be?

“Emperor, protect her, she may not know it now but she carries a great burden. Ave dominus et proniteus Ninety Nine cal nominus lex. May The Emperor’s light shine your path, my child and may you realize his divinity through his light.”

Ninety Nine waited inside a spacious room she saw a rack of various weapon types. The ground clacked with Ninety Nine’s claws, she looked up to see the ever stretching ceiling glimmering with gold. At the rack, Ninety Nine saw many types of wooden weapons. Her eyes however drifted to the larger weapons that required two hands. Greatswords, spears, staffs, battleaxes, Ninety Nine could not decide which to pick.

“You’re here, good.”

“Chaplain!”

Chaplain Gabriel entered the room, clad in his usual chaplain power armor. He glanced up of the magnificent ceiling of the Imperial Palace. This was one of many training rooms reserved for important nobilities to train inside. Chaplain Gabriel gestured at the weapon rack.

“Take the sword.”

“Which one?” Ninety Nine said.

“Whichever you find comfortable.” Gabriel said.

Ninety Nine took the two handed sword. Gabriel took an astartes sized training great sword next to a rack of smaller weapons.

“Imitate my stance.”

Ninety Nine spread her feet to her shoulder length, she raised her sword and rested the blade on her shoulder.

“Lesson one.” Chaplain Gabriel said.

Ninety Nine charged head on, she dragged the sword on the ground with her hands and bellowed out a wordless war cry. Chaplain Gabriel shook his head, he took his stance and waited. Ninety Nine raised her arms overhead, but she saw the swift blade descending. Ninety Nine raised her own sword over and spread her feet apart. Gabriel’s heavier sword crashed.

“Hnngh!”

Yet, the force did not crumple Ninety Nine’s footing. She looked up at Gabriel and gave a toothy, smarmy grin, as if to say she’s no longer the hatchling she was. Of course, this pride lasted for three seconds, a swifter kick sent Ninety Nine skidding across the floor.

“You have the strength, but not the wits.” Chaplain Gabriel said. “Fighitng is not just the opponent, but knowing your surroundings and never giving into your anger.”

Ninety Nine hopped back up, the kick had smashed the winds out of Ninety Nine but her spirit remained stalwart.

“But how do I do that?”

“That,” Chaplain Gabriel held his sword that rested on his shoulder with a single hand. “Comes with experience. Again!”

C'mon guys, we're obviously going to be physically focused, let's just keep Intelligence as the non-physical stat we dip into.

Wait, wait, succeeding would mean burning all three to boost 17 to 20, right?
If so, then I'll vote not to use them here.

Well as of this moment, I have three yes and one no. That and penance token are mean to be spent. So 99 has succeeded.

Whenever Ninety-Nine uses a heavy melee weapon, she is able to add one (subject to be changed) for a roll that has the option to use her weapons along with the modifier of Strength and other modifiers involved.

Heavy melee weapon are weapons that require two hands to use. Ninety Nine at the moment cannot use both unless she gets four arms.

Ninety Nine lowered her stance. If brute strength would not work, then her agility might be. The executioner's word whipped around weightlessly, bare being caught by Ninety Nine’s eyes. Up, down, across, right… her mind and eyes worked together to survive a second longer. Ninety Nine hopped back, making a distance, as if to reset.

She charged again.

The sword moved faster than before, and Ninety Nine repsoneded in kind. This time, having tasted the sword’s movement, made the evasion more comfortable than before. She weaved through the attacks then made an attempt to strike. In return, a spare fist smacked her face.

“Mmpgh!”

Ninety Nine once again slid across the floor. Gabriel rested his sword on his shoulder.

“Come.”

Ninety Nine walked back with her sword dragging across the floor.

“Do you know why you have failed?”

She shook her head.

“When you fight, you must never lose your sight. You must observe your opponent’s body, not just their weapon. You must detect their next movement before they make it.”

“How do I do that?”

Suddenly, a bright golden light filled the room. Ninety Nine shielded her eyes.

“This… this is the Imperial Palace.” A woman’s voice said. “Chaplain Gabriel? It has certainly been a long time.”

The Chaplain lowered his head briefly.

“It has been… Sister Celestine.”

The Princess, Cora, is about 5,6. Tall for her people regardless, let alone for a women, as the previous years of hardship had rendered most to grow up to be between 5,3 and 5,5.

Her skin is olive colored when not tanned- tho her face is lacking in scars, her hands bares marks from both the fight to escape the fall of her home and the weeks in the wilderness.

Before she was shaven she had short loosely curly black hair, typically she worn it long but during the fight for her city she cut it short after a small band of warriors managed to get in and into the palace.

Currently she is tanned form both the wilderness and form helping in the fields, her hair growing back but not long enough for much, is physically fit both from her father not wanting any of he’s children defenseless should the worse come to pass. The latter also saw her trained in the blade, trained in tactics and war, and other fields normally reserved for men in her world.
