Galactic conquest - a rich alien's game. Not something for you to worry about, not the big picture stuff, at least. With trillions of aliens in this star system, you had to scratch and claw your way to the top of your field, perhaps figuratively, but more than likely not. Your life's journey has led you here, to the edge of an uncharted and roguish galaxy, lured and tempted by riches beyond your imagination. You are a pinnacle of biology, technology, enterprise, or perhaps something else... You are a Klone Keeper. ArchAlien Längsnūz has conquered and terraformed another planet along the Nūzsläng Asteroid Belt in his SnängLūzz Galaxy. Now, he needs a Klone Keeper of the lowest bid (free) and the highest stature (literally anyone) to populate this new planet with only the choicest designer species, all to be birthed from his Klone Eggs. Being a finnicky celebrity with exquisite taste, ArchAlien Längsnūz cares only for lifting the fame, fortune and power of a single Klone Keeper, who shall inherit the planet, its naming rights, and everything else on it forever more. In this multiplayer game, you will create an alien Klone Keeper, tend to Eggs and Klonez, manage resources, create alliances or enemies, and capture and fight over territory!Players: 2-8>How do I play?Respond to this post with your Keeper's name and an introduction or background if you would like, then choose an Ecosystem from the list that hasn't been chosen yet (Ecosystem is solely cosmetic and for identification on the map). Then ArchAlien Längsnūz will roll for your unique Keeper Komplex location and one of six Keeper Traits. Once you have been given a starting location and the first map has been posted, you may start playing. Every turn in a single post, each player rolls 2d10 and chooses 1 Territorial Action, 1 Auxiliary Action, and a Reasonable Amount™ of Free Actions. The first die corresponds to Territory, and the second die is for Auxiliary. (To roll dice, type "dice+2d10" in the Options field without the quotation marks.) With the exception of territory defenses, actions cannot be changed retroactively after posted, unless approved by ArchAlien Längsnūz. I will try to update every 24-72 hours, or after every player has acted. I am planning on 25 Turns for this first map, so keep that in mind for your strategies! At the end of the 25 Turns, a winner will be chosen based on a point system, with points awarded for territory and conquest, Klone quantity and quality, endgame assets and KP bank, as well as other factors.
Territorial ActionsClaim - Choose an unclaimed hex adjacent to your territory and claim it. If your Territorial Roll is a 10 or higher, instead claim 2 unclaimed hexes.Attack - Choose an opponent's hex adjacent to your territory and declare an attack. Draws represent successful defenses. Undefended hexes are lost automatically on rolls above 0. (Mind your FIGHT modifier!)Defend - Choose a hex in your territory that has been attacked and use your roll to defend against it. You may abort your Territorial Action at any time to Defend, or specify to Defend If Attacked. Only one hex can be Defended per turn. Fortify - Choose a hex in your territory that you haven't fortified yet. You permanently get FIGHT +1 when defending or attacking that hex, and enemies cannot target it with a Kultivator 5000 while you own it. Undefended fortified hexes still provide FIGHT +1 against attacks.Auxiliary ActionFortify - Fortify is also an Auxiliary Action, and you may choose to Fortify two hexes in a single turn by using both actions. Same rules apply as above.Incubate - On an Aux roll of 10 or higher, all of your Eggs age an extra turn. Does nothing on rolls under 10. Does nothing to Eggs with 1 turn left on their Egg Timer.Klone Sacrifice - Kill any amount of your own Klones in one Species Slot, and add to your KP bank based on the sacrifice's GROW bonus! (1GROW:1KP rate) If your Aux roll was 10 or higher, triple the KP gain!Breed - Sacrifice all Klonez in 2 Species Slots of a shared Rarity and create 1-5 Eggs of the next Rarity higher (1d10 Aux Roll divided by 2, rounded up). You gain KP equal to Klone Sacrifice rules for both Species Slots.Omelet - Smash any amount of Eggs and gain KP equal to 50% their normal price at Parthenomerchandise. If your Aux roll was 10 or higher, instead gain 100% KP.Free ActionsShopping at Parthenomerchandise - Stock is limited, first come first serve! The shop rotates items regularly, and occasionally, some items go on sale! You may sell items for 10% of their normal price at any time.Trade with other Keeperz - All territory and items (including Eggs) can be traded, but hatched Klonez cannot be. Dialogue, Soliloquys and Quest Art - Character aspirations, banter, and lore of all type welcomed, as are visual aids for the quest, pixel or otherwise! Thanks for playing!Suggestions or Questions about anything - Ask away! ArchAlien Längsnūz himself or one of the helpful Keeperz will try our best to help. Values and mechanics in this game are subject to change/balancing.Let the game begin!
Here's an example character creation and first turn, to demonstrate how to join and play:Example Player says: I would like to join this game>Keeper Name: Bonespar Nuckledragg, Intergalactic Crushking >Background: While Bonespar has never tended to Eggs before, he is eager for the opportunity to show ArchAlien Längsnūz his passion for both the youth and planetary conservation.>Ecosystem: GoreArchAlien Längsnūz says: Yes>Rolls for your Keeper's Trait >Rolls for your Keeper's Komplex location>Other players join and do the sameThe first map and shop screens drop, and your Keeper will have KP to spend based on their Trait, and Actions to take from their Komplex (starting location). For example:Bonespar Nuckledragg rolled the "Omni-Pest" Trait and the Komplex at the bottom left of the OP image.Bonespar Nuckledragg rolls 2d10 and says:>Claim the hex to the northeast (his Territorial Action)>Incubate my Eggs (Aux Action)>Buy 10 Smelly Eggs from the store (Free Action, -50KP)Result:Bonespar rolls a 2 and a 10. He Claims the hex, and successfully Incubates his Eggs, including the ones he just purchased.___________________________________________________Keeper Stats and Inventory:KLONE POINTS (KP) Bank - Represents the amount of available Klone Points you have to spend.GROW modifier - The amount of Klone Points you passively bank at the end of the turn. Changes often.FIGHT modifier - Affects all Territorial rolls. Max is +5, Minimum is -5.Species Slots - Each Keeper may only have 5 types of Klonez occupying different Species Slots at any time. Buying the Ball Pouch from Parthenomerchandise gives Keeperz an additional 5 Species Slots. Assets - Eggz and other items do not occupy any space, so they can be stacked infinitely.
>>6129234>>6129234I would like to join>>Keeper Name: Cimar Klitermat, Extralegal Keeper>>Background: While Cimar loves his job he often gets in trouble for breeding "illegal abominations" but he says if God didn't want a blind dragon that causes all living things on the continent to rot he'd have stopped it from hatching. Now he just wants to have a nice planet to retire on and release all his unhatched projects.>>Ecosystem: Gore
Rolled 4 (1d8)>>6129279Welcome, Cimar. It is an honor to have you visit and compete for my planet. Please don't fuck it up with flying centipedes.>Rolling for your location (1 is the northernmost Komplex, going all the way down to 8 at the southernmost Komplex.)
Rolled 3 (1d6)>>6129279Nice, you will be staying in the Bone Zone- I mean, the Bone Kave. I'll point it out to you on the map after a few more players join. For now, let's learn a little more about Cimar by...>Rolling for your Trait1 - Early Sprouter2 - Gene Stealer (*Gasp!* You would never! Or would you?)3 - Saboteur4 - Chosen One5 - Omni-Pest6 - Tech Inducer I know you're eager, but seriously. I find one flying centipede, and I'll kill you myself.[Waiting for more players to join]

Pleeeeaaassseeeee!>Keeper Name: SubAlien Mollymood, Subjugated Keeper.>Background: A desperate, smelly loser, of once-great heritage, before subjugation by ArchAlien Längsnūz. She is a native of the Nūzsläng belt, who clawed her way out of the pit her ancestors dug for her. This is her last chance to claim some of her birthright before it is pawned off to some halfwit crony of the Archnemesis!>Ecosystem: Swamp
>>6129234>Keeper Name: Smoff the Smotherer, >Background: He smothers things. He would like to smother them with motherly love for a change of pace.>Ecosystem: Bio-Stone
Rolled 5 (1d7)>>6129335No. You'd be a terrible Keeper. Wait, that sounds kind of funny. Okay, you can join. Here, have this Komplex I built for you as a base. But I expect you to behave yourself and be civilized. Don't get too cozy in it and go around re-arranging the silverware drawer, or anything extreme like that.>Rolling for your location
Rolled 10 (1d11)>>6129335You shall reside in the easternmost Kastle. Now, let's see what your birthright is, and if it's as pathetic as the rest of your kind... 1/2 - Early Sprouter3/4 - Gene Stealer 5 - Saboteur6/7 - Chosen One8/9 - Omni-Pest10/11 - Tech Inducer

Whew. I really should have vetted these Keeperz before giving them the landing kodez. >Rolling for your Trait1/2 - Early Sprouter3/4 - Gene Stealer5 - Saboteur6/7 - Chosen One8/9 - Omni-Pest10 - Tech Inducer
I'll wait for more Keeperz to join before we start Turn 1, and I'll explain things further, including how Teleport Disks and Backup Devices work, when the first map and shop screens drop. I'm working on art for the Klonez at the moment and will likely also make art for the Keeperz, so if you have any ideas you want to see or contributions for that, feel free, it doesn't necessarily have to be pixel art either.
>>6129453I think of myself as a smelly, desperate version of a Huragok from Halo, if that image helps.
Turn 1 begins! New Keeperz are still encouraged to join! >>6129279 >>6129390 >>6129460Let me know if you need help with locating your Komplex or anything else. >All Keeperz, roll 2d10 and choose 1 Territorial Action, 1 Auxiliary Action, and any Free Actions! Don't forget to check your Trait! >>6129234 Here are descriptions of the 3 non-Egg items that are possible to gain from a Trait:>Backup DeviceAdd a +1 to any Keeper's roll at any time. Each Keeper can only use one each turn, but Keeperz can band together to stack their uses on the same turn. Must declare which action is being modified.>Koké BallAllows for the capture of a single Klone Specimen upon a successful attack on a rival Keeper's territory. Multiple can be used at once. Only one Klone Specimen can be targeted per turn.>Teleport DiskYou may claim or attack a visible territory up to 5 hexes away. One turn only.
Pssst. Hey you, new guy. What's up. Name's Pawnzo, and I'll help you get an edge on the other Keeperz. For a fee, of course. You're gonna wanna buy your Eggs from me, that's for sure. I sell other crap, as well, yes, yes indeed. Sometimes the junk's even on sale, just look out for the red exclamation mark. (!) Occasionally, I'll even alert you to which items are going on sale the next turn or going out of stock for a while, so pay attention! Oh yeah, and be quick to buy, because competition is fierce, and resources are finite... Except for the Smelly Eggs... Anyway, don't say I never did nothing for ya, Keeper. Now, buy something or get out.
Rolled 10, 6 = 16 (2d10)>>6129750As Cimar looked at the bones surrounding his base, he spoke, "Fascinating how something this large could exist without bioengineering, don't you agree?" His question was responded to by chittering as a creature with too many legs curled around his feet. "Stop worrying my pet. He forbade centipedes. He said nothing about flying millipedes." He looked at his map of the surrounding area. The ponds seemed like an ideal area to gather biomatter for his Klonez.>Claim Skreaming Pond.He pulled out a syringe containing a purple liquid. "Under ideal conditions this could resurrect a near perfect copy of anything. Alas without a complete skeleton and several genetic maps the outcome will likely be... unpleasant. Still this should make an effective enough living fortress." He injected the liquid into the bones and watched as flesh begins to grow.>Fortify spawn point."As for you." He rubbed the millipede's head. "One of my competitors is apparently nesting in a swamp. Why don't you go get some breakfast?" The creature unfurls its many wings and takes to the air.>Sabotage Mollymood's growth
Rolled 7, 4 = 11 (2d10)>>6129750High towers and thick wall! Life in abundance! Finally, my station in life matches my worth. Soon I shall reclaim my birthright!"Ahahhahaha!" I can hardly contain my mirth. From the central tower I spy a formation of fine crystal jutting out from the earth in jagged spikes over the canopy of kloned overgrowth, from which I can fashion an all-seeing eye. A tool I will sorely need, as the centuries of abuse I have endured have left my body weak, and my mind frayed from intellectual pursuits. If only I had pursued raw animal instinct and sharpened my tactical mind! Bloody cunning will be needed to take back the Belt.'Damn you Längsnūz'The other keepers would be no issue, my greatness surpassed them. No, my destiny was to retake the galaxy from the Archnemesis!...I must quiet my mind before another fit of laughter takes me. Otherwise we'll be here all day. Ahem. Now where was that squib? I need to set some tasks for my minions. The first of which shall be mining the crystal that will be my first tool of destruction!>Claim Spyglass Orb south of my KastleA quick telepathic command sent the squib scurrying with orders for the workerwretches. Now I can turn my talents to what I'm good at. Leaving the balcony, I descended the stairs to my laboratory where my incubation chambers awaited. Below my feet the thrum of geothermal power courses through thick galvanic cables of alloyed flesh, the geysers providing ample power for the task ahead. I flipped the 'on' switch, then entered in a command line.In front of me the eggs aged in the accelerated time stream of my hyperbolic time chamber. All was going according to plan.>Incubate>>6129753'Stupid creature. Get out of my mind! What's this? A sale? Oh, yes, I'll take two, thank you!'Rude. Some people ought to just use the phone, instead of barging in telepathically."Ahahahaha! I'm so smart. I could just die from how intelligent I am!">Buy 2 Kultivator 5000sIf I am sabotaged before I can buy 2, then I just buy 1. I'm not sure if the sabotage takes place at the end of the turn or immediately like the Gene Stealer's trait.
>>6129858[If it weren't for your Trait's FIGHT -1 modifier (and in following turns, your Skreaming Pond's -1 mod), you would have been able to claim 2 territories this turn. Neat, almost! Maybe you could look out for some Spyglass Orbs on the Map, or a pricy, juicy Proat Shake at Parthenomerchandise, coming in an unknown amount of turns!] Längsnūz grabs a gamma telescope and counts the legs on Cimar's flying minion... >>6129858>>6130373Unlike the Gene Stealer's Free Action from its Trait, the Saboteur's Free Action will take effect at the end of the round. And I believe Cimar is targeting your GROW rather than your KP bank. You capitalize on the fabulous sale at Parthenomerchandise!ArchMerchant Pawnzo intrudes again on every Keeper's mind and transmits an item list. "Not sure how much of this stuff will be coming in, coming in, okay? Or how much I'll charge for it on sale, until it gets here. But maybe this price list can help you put some plans together. Yes, yes, together..."Sign Up/Turn 1 will be open for another 24+ hrs.
bumpHere's a sneak peek of one of the possible Basic Klonez, which hatches from a Basic Egg. It's a hideous concoction of clever yet intuitive biological insights. It's got the hulking body of a shrew, the writhing tail of a vole, and the cute yet deceptively fierce face of a mouse. Each one you Keep will give you GROW +2 as all Basic Klonez do, and for its unique Species Bonus, if you decide to Breed it with another Klone Species, it guarantees the maximum output of 5 Golden Eggs!
I'll be postponing/cancelling this game due to low player count. I'll be workshopping it and maybe try to muster players in advance elsewhere in the future or just run this elsewhere or just throw it in the dumpster. Thanks to the 2-3 of you for playing.
>>6133132Thanks for running Längsnūz! Sorry it didn't work out.
Hi Qm. Are you gonna be actively workshopping it and getting feedback in the /qtg/ or anything? Would have loved to join, but I missed the bus. Very excited to see it pop back up in the future, and would love to follow the progress.
>>6141551Hi, thanks. I don't have a time set in my mind but I would like to return to this in the near future (next few months). If not this, I'm also working on another similar project that will be noticeable by the similarity in its name. I appreciate the interest! I may post updates or notices in the /qtg/ and/or the skirmish discord, which you can find in the /qtg/
