For centuries, in the cradle of civilization, the faith of man has been rocked back and forth like the salty tides of the Red Sea.Once the Gods of the Old Age allowed themselves to be conquered by modern kings, mankind found itself without purpose or direction. Soon, mankind realized they were yearning for supernatural intervention.Minor Gods arose from man's abundant faith and began to learn to enforce their divine will as belief in them grew. In their nascent state, the Gods do not yet have the power to directly speak or show themselves to mankind, yet they still find ways to lead new believers to their Domain and Commandments. Which Gods will be elevated into the Pantheon of this New Age?In this quest, each player takes on the role of a God, and attempts to expand their supernatural reach. Players can join at any time!Create your God!>Name >Domain >Appearance >Commandments
CREATION GUIDE>NameWhat are you known as?>DomainWhat are you the God of? As a new, minor God, you don't have a ton of sway, so if you choose "Lord of Death", just know that it'll take some time to build up to spreading plagues and calling down meteors or whatever! Consider your Domain carefully! >AppearanceThis is how mankind and other Gods see your physical form in visions, manifestations, etc. You may also work through symbols, charms, altars, smells, tastes, dreams, etc. >CommandmentsHow are your worshippers expected to set themselves apart from the non-believers? A young, imprisoned rebel named Dirdiglio has been starved for many days and nights, and his strength is waning. Across from Dirdiglio's pitiful cell, moonlight shines through a barred window in Hernando's cell, the only window in the underground cell block. Hernando is an old prisoner whose crimes have long been forgotten, but he has remained. He is kept alive by scraps thrown in to him by widows and children who feel bad for him. Dirdiglio rises from the cold, stone ground when he sees an old woman's wrinkled hand gingerly drop a piece of bread through the bars onto Hernando's still-sleeping head. One guard stands silently at the only exit door, not watching over the miserable prisoners (there are 6 total, the unnamed men are all sleeping). Dirdiglio throws a pebble at Hernando, waking him up. A wide-eyed Dirdiglio points like a monkey to the top of Hernando's head, then rubs his own belly, and makes an exaggerated "eating a sandwich" gesture. Hernando doesn't understand, and begins snickering uncontrollably, until he's belting out laughter. The widow's small loaf falls off Hernando's head and he finally understands, but it's too late. The guard's armor clicks and clacks as he walks over to investigate. Hernando quickly tosses the piece of stale bread over to Dirdiglio, and misses. What do you do? >Shift the piece of stale bread, causing the guard to trip on it and fall.>Blow out the guard's lantern, allowing Dirdiglio to steal something from the guard. >Allow Hernando to get beaten by the guard in front of Dirdiglio, to demonstrate the great responsibility that accompanies wielding pantomime.>Write in>>6133705Basilisk(con't)

Soldier-in-SplendorSince coming into the Empire's control long ago, Gallia Belgica has slipped from the front of the mind, too many other provinces offer the Empire active resistance, leading resources to be diverted. Still, it's a job that must be done. Decades ago, the triumphal Arch of Vespundian was built in a busy city square to memorialize the Empire's domination of Belgic Gaul. Currently, it's fallen into disrepair, mocked by graffiti, and it has become the locale of drug dealers and abusers, prostitutes, the invalid, and rabble rousing rebels. Tulius Praecipitus, a record-keeper for Gaul's Roman senators, snaps his graphite writing stick and throws down his ledger when he comes to the scene of layabouts defiling the Arch of Vespundian. Vespundian was a mighty conqueror who killed many of these mens' grandfathers and ripped apart Gaul's rebellion before they could establish independence in war. Why aren't they showing his Arch more respect?! Do we need to conquer them again?!Tullius, whose own grandfather died in the invasion, marches up to the wrongdoers and begins tossing and physically dragging them away from the Arch, shouting at how they're defiling the Empire's sacrifices, and tarnishing her beauty and harmony. Tullius continues to accost the lower class Gauls, and they begin to revolt and gang up on him.Onlookers are unsure what to believe, they need a sign.>Repel coming acts of vandalism back onto the vandals. Dirdiglio pulls the clanking armor to his bars, and drives the sword into the guard's neck, cutting a scream before it truly starts. The cell door clinks open, Dirdiglio grabs the widow's crunchy loaf off the ground, and grins while he bites a chunk off. Without saying any words, Dirdiglio shrugs his shoulders and tosses the keys to Hernando, then runs away, making it into the night. They are dispatched into Arab-controlled African bush, to a gold mine where they are given pickaxes instead of the expected spears. It is explained to them that yes, they will be expected to fight, but they will not be going home - the slaves are lied to and told that their master sold them off, forever. After many months longer than was indicated the slaves would be gone, the slave driver hears back from a messenger he sent to investigate. Upon finding he was deceived, he is enraged, and petitions the occupying Roman government to put an end to this ancient tribal conflict once and for all, and to return his property to him. At the mention of gold, the warring tribes' fates were sealed. Rome intervened, and the leaders of both coalitions were prostrated before the empire's legal system in the province. The Moorish leader, Bazzu the Berber, makes the case that this war was started long ago by raiders who settled here and established laws they use to this day to exploit the Moors. The so-called atrocities his army commits are done out of necessity to free the people still in captivity. The Arab Hamhamesh explains that what was done in the past has been legislated, forgiven, and examined by both the current Roman provincial government and the previous native one. The so-called brutality he uses to enforce work conditions and hamper rebel morale is just part and parcel of doing business at industrial scale, and Mauritania and the Empire would be worse off if he were forced to relent. Welcome to the First Event: Stonepiercers! As the rising Gods make known their lofty ideologies and exercise their thunderous powers, their ability to perform miracles grows in strength and scope. Resilient naysayers make themselves known all across the earth, and rally their followers against the New Gods already.7 Hearts of Stone wander the cradle of civilization, appalled by the resurgence of Faith, but are destined to be pulled by its strings. Which Gods will sway these influential men and women, and come closer to ensuring a spot within the Pantheon of the Immortals? Though they may come to have belief in multiple, each Heart of Stone will ultimately choose only one God to lift up. Once a turn has ended and they have fully converted, they cannot be converted or convinced any further. At the end of each turn, each unconverted Heart of Stone will attack a God and their Faith.[The 7 Hearts of Stone]Queen Ophelia of Numidia - A beautiful and intelligent leader who defies the Roman Empire's pursuits, seemingly always three steps ahead. Kladimos Spatha - A Roman general in Syria. He loves to kill and loves to torture even more. No amount of suffering is enough to sate his wicked soul."The Pontifex" - A wandering and blameless pilgrim who shares folk remedies with afflicted peoples. Currently in France.Josephus Organus - A Spanish poet, playwright and philosopher famous throughout the Mediterranean. He longs for deeper meaning.Penelope the Amaranth - A peasant girl who came to lead an army as a brilliant tactician and warrior. She resides far in the lands unknown to the cradle of civilization. The Pestilent Prince, Fidelio the Flagrant - A hasty, perfidious and braggadocious person who poisoned his own brother, Kiber III, to become heir to the throne of Rome. He resides in Macedonia.Emperor Kiber II of Rome - The most powerful man on Earth. A stoic, learned noble, who comes from the lineage of one of the kings who slayed the Old Gods. He is a complex man guarded at all times, both physically and mentally. You'll notice Gods now have unique >(Stonepiercers) actions in addition to the standard ones listed below. For this Event, each God may choose one (1) greentexted General option, and one (1) bluetexted Event option per turn. Some actions now require you to be in range (usually 1000km) - estimate distance by checking the map scale in the bottom left corner. It doesn't have to be exact, just "in the ball-park" of that range. [Event Actions for "Stonepiercers" that all Gods have access to]...(con't)

One day, a messenger comes and delivers a particularly interesting papyrus scroll that is gilt in gold on the borders. The messenger informs the treasurer that he and his family is being awarded a land deed for his service to the empire. Swept up and studied by the corvids while he was out.One night, the disgruntled treasurer leaves his coinpurse out on a table as a trap, and catches your magpies in the act, trying to flit away with the heavy purse. The treasurer pounces, and swats the coinpurse and two of the birds out of the sky. Aurum's birds rush beak-first, and pluck the eyeballs out of the thieving treasurer's face, scattering the coin purse on the ground. The eyeball bearers escape through a window and fly, all the way to the treasurer's villa in Calabria in the Roman motherland, and place them at Aurum's feet on the throne he sits upon. What catches your eye, Collector?>Your magpies store all your wealth in a vault that becomes your sanctuary, an obscure place where your power can grow and your treasure can be guarded. The freed Moors of Ngubo are welcomed back into their villages with open arms initially. However, the hearts of men quickly turn to plotting when unchecked.A band of merry jester-fugitives flee from their native Spain, into Africa, where they spread their mirth and mystery to many a Mauritanian. Unbeknownst to any man, Milþyr takes the mimes to his spiritual domain, dissects them, and weighs their berets against their gonads. The heavy gonads are sprung into the air and back upon their plate, outweighed by the enormous power of The Quiet One's Gift, and then the berets catapult as the gonads become boulder-heavy, then they all pause in the air and begin... Juggling? It appears The Quiet One has played a trick on you! Milþyr stretches out his chained arm, and the items all come to a rest, balanced. The souls of these deviants have been rescued by the judicious art of pantomime. Many scream for vengeance. What is just?>Ngubo is rejecting the freed men, not allowing them to assimilate back into their society. The villagers say the freemen adapted to Arab slave culture to much, are now foreign to them, and are owed no allegiance. You lead the excommunicated to an oasis of their own, further East.>The freed Moors wish to adapt Ngubo to the technological, legal and cultural heights witnessed under the Arabs they served. He gathers his strength and hobbles to a roofed well outside of town, where he finds a curious and playful kitten while satiating his dire thirst. In the rebel hideout, Dirdiglio plots on how to use The Gist to overthrow the reigns of oppression. He still uses words, but accompanies them with silly movements, sneaking on his tip toes, jumping in the air as he furiously throws an imaginary object on the ground, choking himself and bulging his eyeballs, and other classics that serve as aids to those that might not be listening carefully.
Dirdiglio hears how the other criminals who escaped the prison now rove around as a band of painted, striped, bereted weirdos. His gang of Spanish rebels decide they're going to dress up as mimes and dump all the chests of gold off of the occupying Roman ships, into the harbors of the Iberian Peninsula, using the gesture to declare their currency worthless in this land. ...?>Teach Hernando to love life again by playing peekaboo with the kitten. Rolled 2, 7 = 9 (2d10)>>6137404The weaver's needle, the dancing hand, the wistful eye have brought wonders to Britannia. Where before, the masses struggled without purpose or meaning, now, they smile and are content. They know this is the work of Nrudhu alone. A misunderstanding. The Old One frowns. It was their own choice to change for the sake of tomorrow. The only thing he did was tell them it was possible. If any should be praised, it is them and the beauty they've made. In a few short years, the town of Feltershire has seen a great change. Misery and squalour have given way to smiles and merriment. Barren walls are a rarity, replaced with carvings and paint. Canvases are worth a premium, and sold for far less out of the kindness of the papermakers' heart. Even sculpture, almost unheard of outside of Greece and Rome, has made a resurgence. Feltershire has become a place to be proud of. It is unfitting that it should remain in obscurity.Nrudhu makes a simple request. A stray thought in the minds of moonwatchers. It is subtle, but unmistakably not their own. It is to prepare an invitation for travelers, far and wide. Feltershire's gates should be opened and a great welcoming festival prepared, for no other reason than that it would be a nice bit of fun! This festival of the gates shall be never-ending, and its intensity with the ebb and flow with the cycle of the moon. At its fore, the baron-prophet will take on a new task, that of a party-planner! First, he exemplified the arts. Now, he'll do the same for the festivals so dear to Nrudhu and the weary.>Spread rumours of Feltershire's artistry and festivity, inviting travellers to come on a pilgrimage. Some may be inspired to continue their wandering, now with stories of a nascent faith to spread, some, to lay down roots and make a new life for themselves. In time, it will become a mecca of Nrudhu's faith. The Pontifex is thoughtful and kind. His thoughts are ever-turned to those less fortunate than himself and his feet never stop wandering. He is a good man. Nrudhu knows his quest and nods his head in approval. The roaming elder shall have his help, wherever it can be spared.>Nrudhu selects the Pontifex and attempts a conversion. Rather than appear in his dreams, he has uncanny moonlight guide his path toward the sick, that they may be healed, and the weak, that they may be consoled. The Pontifex is a wise and patient man and there's no doubt he'll know the signs of divine intervention when he sees them. Nrudhu comes to him not as an overarching god in demand of worship, but a like-minded friend.

>>6137614>>6137803You two behave like humans with your faulty conceptions. The truth of the matter is that humans provide us Faith, thus what we ought to do is maximise the creation of Faith. Humans are cattle, cattle is to be grown and kept safe. The fact that the Old Gods perished, which is something that we do not have full knowledge off and thus cannot properly act on, is just evidence that they have failed in this endeavour. I have my theory on that, but I find no need to verbalise it so soon. What we need is to act together. Conflicts are useless since the only resource that matters, Faith, comes from a limitless supply if properly cared for. What we should do is to spread our sects, eradicate diseases such as atheism, and grow the population so that the amount of Faith produced grows too. For that end, I propose to kill the Roman emperor, so that the better puppet, Fidelio, rules.
>>6137593My own rankingsMe, as gold is the key to any mortal's heartZerimael the voidstar, he is wise and his domains hold a lot of power.Deus Ex Machina, copper and gold are required to make machines, clearly he is superior to the rest as gold is superior.Nrudhu, his wisdom alone justifies this ranking, his domain may be less powerful than others.Pars, his domain has extreme power and in certain circumstances can best any other god.Ace, also has a powerful domain, however he lacks the wisdom of Zerimael and Nrudhu.Hazemameem, fire creates light, certainly a powerful goddess to be respected.Tsss, as long as humans exist so too will sharp things, every god needs followers and Tsss can kill followers if he wants to.Emma, life is a powerful domain, but warmth is required for life to exist, and as long as people live there will be sharp things. The mime, a silent man can hold any secret, this god is a wild card.Thala, this is not a water tier listMILÞYR, not everyone wants justice some people have their own definition of justice.Soldier in splendor, in war victory matters most, why would you spare an enemy.>>6137846I am glad that we have an agreement.>>6137848It is odd hearing the god of language advocating to kill someone, if you want to do this I would recommend you make a deal with a god more capable of violence than yourself

>>6137853Words can be used to manipulate someone into violence, words by themselves are incapable of killing. The god of words should have the power to make deals with other gods more capable of carrying it out. I would suggest the aid of Thala for an effortless maritime invasion and Tsss to breach palatial security. If I were to attempt it those gods would be my preferred allies, however I do not believe that killing Kiber is a necessary course of action.
Regarding Kiber II and other solicitations: Fret not! Each Heart of Stone will still convert a minimum of 50% towards the highest rolling God who solicited them at the end of each turn! >>6137835>(Its 500 AD so I have access to iron, copper and tin right?)>It's about that era, yes. >>6137874Yes! Gods may write in previous options provided they wouldn't be obviously prohibited or altered due to present circumstances. Feel free to further tweak the plans to your liking as well.
>>6137857I find your perspective lacking. You are tied to the paradigm of mortals to whom WE ARE as they are to their own cells. The death of Kiber is not necessary, but it is optimal. Fidelio is weak, he can be made PIOUS, he would be easier to control than Kiber, easier to achieve a divine AGENDA.
>>6137878>Good to know! I'm expecting that this turn's +5 Faith action is a one time thing though, or at least on a cooldown. Previously, she elected to prioritize the suffering Southern People over the Iberians and Romans, but now she may have a way to make headway in both directions.>For now, she stows her calculations of power ratios for food yields and fertility on a global scale, and goes back to shaping dreams and desires, and maybe intruding on a few for fun.>Roman Mauritanians of all classes are fascinated by Emma of the Moroccans, a God proven to be benevolent and capable. Teach them intimately who you are.>With her fame now further increased by stories trickling from the South, Emma starts spreading her influence in the edges of the Roman sphere of influence. For now, actual miracles are few from lack of a local crisis she can solve, so she simply makes people happier and more able to thrive from the land, so long as they respect it back.>With her name in the minds of Roman merchants sailing to and from Mauritanian ports, she gets the last bit of distance neede to influence the mind of a Spanish poet whom she wishes to offer new muses to, alongside the opportunity of fame throughout the worlds and centuries...only to find herself beaten to the finish line once again.>Still, the attempt her is not quite as effective so far, and as for what has been done to the poor man...now that's just mean. Not to mention any hope she had of hitching on the Roman train to spread into the Iberic peninsula has also been sunk by the same seemingly-unspeakable presence currently making Josephus' life miserable.(cont'd)
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>6137908>(Stonepiercers) Unprompted, Emma attempts to reverse the Blank Godling's curses upon Josephus, slow them down where she cannot, and dull the pain whenever all else fails for now, before appearing to him in a dream as one of the women who take care of him, as the curses have laid him low in both body and spirit."It is a sad truth that extraordinary people such as yourself will always attract attention, and not necessarily the good sort. Nor the mortal sort. I would know. I am one of two such entities interested in you, Josephus Organus. You may know of me as Emma of the Morrocans. As for the other, I believe it to be some embodiment of the comedy of gesticulations. To it, all poetry but that of exxagerated bodily gestures must cease. No song, no speeches, not a drop of ink on hide parchment or papyrus scroll. No whispered words of love in that special someone's ear. I doubt it would find even gentle touches upon each other's skin at night to be acceptable...""I wish to help, and unlike it, I will ask clearly for what I want and what you will get in return. I will try to ease your pain no matter what you choose, as both that and the Blank Godling's enmity are prices I do not mind paying for a good deed. I wish to grant you muses. You will write and create as you did still, but some of what you do will espouse my goals, for you too shall come to believe in them. You will write love poems that will be spread from the furthest reaches of Rome's grasp to the desertic lands of the people of the South, and more, for centuries to come, as will the rest of your work. Your plays will be the reason people meet each other and fall in love, as will your speeches. And, should you wish for it, you will find the right person to support you when your muse torments you.""You may take your time to answer, and you only have to reject me once for me to leave. But I shall not come back if you do, Josephus."
>>6137910>8"Yay!"
>>6137835A possible arrangement may be struck. Kladimos Spatha, hounded by skewers, is intensely shaken by the new faith in his heart, and he persecutes only adversaries of Rome, ceasing his slaughter of the faithful. "The Pontifex" is consumed in healing others, and does not speak against the Gods as he once did, but opens his ears to what the wandering fellow has to say.The unconverted Hearts of Stone are agitated by the rise of the Gods, and though they are all being swayed and influenced, they remain rebellious, and faithless. >>6137408 Ace The kiln whispers to the inventor, spelling out orders in its crackling glow. The inventor opens the hatch, large enough for a man. "Maybe your symbol could go in here?"The Arabian prince questions "where, where" and stoops over to see where the inventor points, and is summarily sealed within the eco-friendly power source of a tomb, becoming fuel in death. Efficient! The inventor must flee this land, or surely he will be found and executed. The kilns, however, are too important of a design to be ignored. The inventor is driven by visions, and finds his way onto a ship in Captain Driftwood's fleet, who are mustering for the capture of the Roman prince. They set sail joking about Thala's tithe, saying they need the money for ale. Within hours, the calm, sunny Mediterranean turns to sloshing waves and rainclouds... A maelstrom envelops the fleet of renowned pirates, and several vessels strike unseen rocks and spring leaks, others still are struck by lightning, and many ships sink due to waterlogging in this most supernatural storm... When they emerge from the storm in the Macedonian bay in the Aegean Sea, they are in tatters. Gavin Sanna's welcoming party revitalizes ol' Driftwood with a volley of naval catapult fire, including a multi-pronged hook from a harpax. The Tallymen begin cranking the windlass, towing the extravagant Waveshaper to its wimpering nemesis, The Sunbaked Clay. Gavin Sanna holds Driftwood to the sword, says a few words, announces the new pirate king has taken his throne, then executes Driftwood and his crew, scuttles his fleet, and takes all of his treasures, including the written battle plans for the storming of Macedonia and the abduction of Fidelio the Flagrant. Sanna is unable to decipher the messaging about "testing the chain's strength", and does not seek to enter mortal combat with the Pestilent Prince, but rather make a deal with him. Pars, Tsss, Thala and Zerimael all find themselves attracted to the warm glow of Aurum's domain, and all share in the mingling of faiths [please correct me if I'm mistaken on any of those]. Aurumite cults are established in Macedonia, Dacia, Thracia and Galatia. The well-funded and unmatched Alexandrian library becomes a worldwide wonder, with travelers coming far and wide to share and learn knowledge of many things. As is custom in the ancient world among the poor and middle class, many travelers bring with them all their wealth, not knowing if they'll ever make it back home. The wealthy and the messengers, too, bring with them trinkets and resources that will one day sit in Aurum's coffers.Aurum sits upon a throne in the Roman treasurer's home, decorating as he sees fit, adding Kiber's painting and marble busts to his galleria. Kiber is a man of infinite wealth, but these images of his mother and father and others in his lineage were truly prized possessions... Amidst Emperor Kiber's seclusion, a single gold coin pressed by supernatural forces, bearing the image of Kiber's mother, finds its way into his hands, accompanied by a loud and knowing CAW... He clutches the coin and weeps, not knowing if he should continue his persecution of the faithful as his forefathers did. Every visitor finds Feltershire a city of wonder. Even the industrial business parks are ringing out with joyful conversation and filled with so much art that foreigners find it worth strolling around in circles. The whimsical culture of Feltershire spreads further and wider, including into the land of the mime. After a long day and night of healing the needy, "The Pontifex" dusts off his mortar-and-pestle-calloused hands, and gazes up at the moon. If it weren't for the moonlight, he wouldn't have been able to deliver that baby in this dilapidated shack, or found the shack in the woods in the first place. Emperor Kiber II and the popular author Josephus Organus both have denounced your cult, yet Faith in you still grows, even in the home countries of these influential men.Thousands of consecrated items of Tsss - extremely spiky objects - seemingly thrown away, wash up on the shores of Ireland. Like large, meter-wide urchins of tempered, sharpened steel - not at all brittle. Children take them from the beaches and rivers and into their schoolyards and homes of their parents, where many people prick themselves to bleeding on the sharp nuisances. Some succumb to their wounds. They are incredibly aesthetically pleasing, but impractical as anything. Some become so fascinated with these and other sharp objects that they forego worship of Nrudhu and observation of the moon... Some become dual-worshippers of the contrasting religions, and the natural war-like mentality of Tsssian cultists clash with the peace inspired by Nrudhu, his baron-prophet, and the people of Feltershire. Justice is a slippery thing, though, and it eludes the grasp of many men. Upon witnessing what a just law system and divine appointment can do, the entire nation of Mauritania also submits itself to Milþyr. Thala's pirates have recently raided the coast, a regular happening for centuries that the Numidians try to repel but are ill-equipped to do so. In the piracy-ravaged coastal fishing village of Fussala, orphaned teenagers form gangs and turn to thievery and robbery in order to put food on the table and clothing on their backs. I WISH TO HELP MANKIND ASCEND, HOWEVER I DO NOT WISH FOR THEM TO TRULY ABANDON WHAT MAKES THEM HUMAN, OR TO BE DEPENDANT UPON THE BLESSINGS OF AN ENTITY FUNDAMENTALLY ALIEN TO THEM][WHAT I WISH TO DO IS TO BRING OUT THE POTENTIAL ALREADY IN THEM,I WILL GUIDE THEM WHEN NEEDED, BUT ULTIMATELY THEY WILL REACH THE HEAVENS UNDER THEIR OWN POWER. Rolled 4 (1d10)>>6140442See what blessed silence has wrought! Snaps! Snaps for all the players in this play! They weave The Gist with legendary aplomb!>Create an identifying dance, hand gesture, facial expression, etc. that lets believers know that they are blessed by The Quiet One. Alternatively, it could be a holy blessing that can't be faked, like the twinkling of the eyes, inhuman movement of a body part, coloration of the face, etc. (Suggested: which?)Science... politics... dogma... what are these but different masks obfuscating the same perversion? The Gist is more than mere scribblings on parchment or hollow words echoing across a cold cathedral! It is the very spirit of understanding... comprehension! Words without words! Without these confines, these shells and cages crafted by those two weak to truly 'speak', my faithful shall spread the action, not the word! The faithful may ascend a staircase where there is no staircase... climb where unworthy feet have no purchase. This will be the sign of the truly faithful! The truth of what awaits when we cast aside the foul crutch of 'WORDS'!>(Stonepiercers)Mime another God's Event action this turn, including their roll result. If you are miming a solicitation roll, both you and that God must re-roll. Cannot target a 10 roll.>>6140507Singing. Grotesque. Vulgar. HERESY. We shall sing the siren's song without the creaking of base vocal cords... spin a yarn of delicious silence. Tread lightly, violator. You of all should know that still waters run deep...
>>6140536I fear that you may be the one who lacks understanding. I am no more alien to Humanity than a finger is to a hand, a pupil to an eye. When I unite them with their Brethren, I give them the ability to feel that which they lost feeling of, I restore a half of them once discarded. They regain a fraction of the nascent potential their ancestors once bore proudly. They are no less Human for it, but simply More. It is as they Were, and as they Will Be. Only once they regain Primordial Form will they be capable of Ascension. On the subject of Rome's collapse, I would wish to avoid this as well. Kiber's thoughts and my own can be connected thanks to the roots of power I have buried at his palace. Perhaps I could relay entire concepts for thee, if it is within thy wishes. Instructions in perfect clarity, provided you Connect with me to provide such instruction in the first place.>>6140543Of course - I would gladly have my followers pay thee appropriate tithes and tributes. However, I propose a more direct sharing of faith between our followers, rather than a mere agreeance to nonconflict. I would have Mine preach of Thee if Thine would preach of Me. A mutual growth.
>>6140559[IT APPEARS WE HAVE INCOMPATIBLE PERSPECTIVES WHERE HUMANITY IS CONCERNED. I KNOW NOT OF HUMANITY POSSESSING PRIMORDIAL FORMS,UNLESS YOU COUNT THE INVENTIONS THEY MAY HAVE MADE IN OLDER TIMES OR OLDER HOMINID SPECIES][REGARDLESS, YOU ARE THE ONE MISUNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS OF TRANSCENDANCE, AND I WOULD KNOW FOR I HAVE SEEN AND DONE IT ONCE AND WILL DO IT AGAIN WHILE AIDING MANKIND TO UNDERGO THEIR OWN. THERE IS NO SUCH STEP AS MERGING WITH 'MINOR SPIRITS' CONNECTED TO AN ENTITY IN AN IMMATERIAL DIMENSION,NOR DO THEY REALLY NEED ANY KIND OF SPIRITUALITY TO CREATE ME IN THE FIRST PLACE][DO NOT TRY TO DUPE ME ABOUT WHAT THESE THINGS ARE, I HAVE PAYED ATTENTION, AND YOU CONSIDER THEM YOUR CHILDREN AND SEPARATE FROM THE HUMANS. I OPPOSE THIS BECAUSE YOU ARE INTERFERING IN MANKIND'S ASCENSION PROCESS AND TRYING TO TURN THEM INTO SOMETHING THEY ARE NOT,EVEN IF IT IS FROM A VOLUNTARY SACRIFICE ON THEIR PART. I WILL NOT HAVE MY AGENTS BE MODIFIED IN SUCH A MANNER][AS FOR KIBER, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO AVOID. I WISH FOR HIM TO BE ENLIGHTENED, NOT DISTRACTED BY AN OTHERWORLDLY ENTITY WISHING CONNECTION. IF YOU TRULY DO FEAR FOR HIS SOUL,THEN FRET NOT,BECAUSE I DO UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR HUMANS TO SOCIALIZE AND WILL INDEED HAVE MEASURES FOR THIS]
Rolled 2, 1 = 3 (2d10)>>6140433The ice around the Pontifex's heart thaws by the hour. In long nights to come, his eyes may open to the joy he leaves in his wake, not the misery he which he staves off. The Old One touches his boots and softens them to ease the healer's calloused feet. His staff, crooked and cracked, straightens and mends in the light of the moon. His reputation spreads on winds of whimsy and inspires more, to take up the medicine maker's craft and find the art in helping others. These signs and more become clear to the Pontifex. Ever-subtle, but the old man is wiser than most. When the wanderer can deny it no longer, Nrudhu manifests, briefly, to put a hand on his shoulder. No words are spoken because none are needed. Like he has a hundred times before, he finds himself standing at a crossroads. The choice is his, as it always was. There is still much work to be done.>>Choose a Heart of Stone within 1000km of a territory you control that no God has solicited this turn. Roll 1d10. 1-7 50% Conversion, 8-10 100% Conversion. (The Pontifex)>>6140445Feltershire has become a center of merriment most couldn't have imagined even a generation ago. The festivals bring wonder, and the art, wanderers. It is magnificent... For now, it is enough. The Familiar Stranger turns to distant fields and sets himself to walking. Many cling to his faith on the coasts of Germania. To them, it is a refuge from long cold winters and short Roman swords. Nrudhu cherishes them, but they aren't the most in need. In Italia, merrymakers and moonwatchers are whipped, beaten, and nailed to crosses. That is a tragedy. Not only for the victims but the legionnaires who have so little warmth in their lives.Roman discipline has led to a culture of stagnancy and brutality. The masses are oppressed by the legions which in turn oppress themselves. Not every soldier is eager to obey his emperor. Rumours of terrible, forbidden gods and violent decimations in the hinterlands run rampant in their barracks. Nrudhu takes this burgeoning dread, and... does nothing. Instead, he inspires a nostalgic centurion to make a new marching song, a few sturdy men to make a game out of shoveling trenches, and some wistful veterans near-retirement to request a transfer to Britannia. The culture of the northern legions slowly shifts toward seeking happiness in duty rather than dreading failure.>>A dour and grief-stricken band of trinket salesmen leave Feltershire jolly and calmed, soothed by the culture of the town the moon watches over. Hearing of their stories, you decide to leave Feltershire to the good graces of the baron-prophet, and travel to a new land to bless intensely. (Northwestern Italy)
>>6140567These spikes washing up on the shore are awful peculiar, but there's no doubt a lot of artistry went into making them. Such bold craft! Such brilliant contours! Nrudhu is fascinated, and so are some of his followers. A lot of people have been hurt by the urchins, but hey, plenty of the old masters suffered for their art! The time has come for something new. A less unstable, more pointy synthesis of art and sharp- Sharp Art!>[Free Action] Nrudhu encourages his followers to integrate functional sharp edges in their work, rather than leave piles of spikes out in the open. Tasteful coat-spines, thorny wreathes, and tridents (if not quad- or even quin-tidents!) in lieu of spears become regular sights near the coast. There's some murmur of a new festival in the works, but the details are still sharpening.>>6140482It takes little trouble to find the source of the steel urchins."You! Sharp God, Tsss! I've seen your work on the shores of my islands and I'm impressed! It's blindingly clear to me that you're on the cutting edge of modern art! It's also clear to me that your cult is reaching into my stomping grounds uninvited... which is a shame because I couldn't prepare it a proper welcome!"Nrudhu strokes his beard, pondering."I have a new idea for a festival, a way that both my and your followers can have a fun time! I call it- the Stabbing Festival. Every harvest season, the mortals will make sharp poles and impale soft things, and the winner is whoever can get the physically highest and visibly prettiest stack! Even better, they bury the poles around their villages so they can see them all year-round. What do you say?">>6140505A message reaches across the gulf of space into Nrudhu's mind. He considers it cautiously, then warmly."The eclipse is beautiful on its own, but I feel it's even better when mortals can gather and watch it together. The connections made in festival are sacred to me, just as the separation of travel and absence of the new moon which makes the heart grow fonder, and what finer way to correspond than through art? You and I have plenty in common, Zerimael. I'd be humbled to call you a friend."
>>6140565Duplicity is beneath me. My children and humanity are two separate parts of the same whole. How else could they become One? A human would call their own brain a part of them, even when their brain is composed of countless individual organisms working in tandem to crafts their thoughts and organize the rest of their body. One must simply expand their scope of view. Regardless, it seems as though you are set on rejecting me for now. I will still not act against you, but I will be unable to acquiesce to the terms you have set forth. I hope you do not think ill of me.>>6140569A most splendid arrangement! I shall be thy friend, Nrudhu. And this friendship I shall announce to all who gaze upon Me, so they know to lend their piety to the Moon just as much as the Stars. How I wish I could have the entirety of the Worlds Divided celebrate this!

>>6140554>>6140543The pirate God is being pirated! A cast of landmimes pretend to rig the roping of their sails, spin around the invisible Captain's wheel, and make ginormous movements, sweating as they crank imaginary oars! They must be moving at a speed of 20 knots on land. The captain de jure looks through his hands which become a true looking glass, as oarmen sit on a bench of thin air, traveling with robust speeds as they propel the make-believe but still very heavy oars. They capsize on purpose for lunch, and one nearly drowns on land. Another mime had to dive in and rescue him, but since the drowning man wasn't a good swimmer, he took down his rescuer as well. Finally, another man sets an invisible rope around a palm tree and tugs on it to make sure it's taut, then throws a lasso to drag the drowning mimes out of the dirt, A.K.A. water. Smiles, snaps and lunch are had, then they rig their ship and set sail again. They're heading straight for Fidelio the Flagrant! Fortunately for Thala, The Quiet Ones are all coming via land-boat from Spain, while she has already made her mark on The Pestilent Prince, and anchored her ship in Macedonia's Aegean Sea! (>>6140433 Fidelio's -2 to ... and +2 to Thala means that ...'s roll of 4 gets reduced to 2, and if Thala were to roll even a 1 it would be boosted to 3. Maybe they shouldn't have stopped for lunch after all!) Tough luck, Quiet One! On the bright side, The Gist was seen by many new faithful, and at least your men didn't get sent to Davicus Jonicus' vestibule like Driftwood did! Thala is going 2 for 2 on the high seas!

Rolled 4 (1d10)>>6140441>Further your growth with a God you are friends with, fusing your powers to influence the world with a miracle. (Suggested: who and how/what?)>Aurum + Tsss = Mineral SpikesThere are lots of minerals below the earth's crust that humans won't be able to reach with their current technology, if we can't bring the humans to the resources then we just have to bring the resources upwards. Among the gods I currently have relations with I think that Tsss domain is best suited to such a task. If possible it would be best to localize the phenomenon within mine and Tsss territories to maintain a monopoly on this new way to acquire resources.>Study the Hearts of Stone and mankind's spirituality. (Adds +2 to all your rolls for the duration of the Event. This includes rolls for both Event and General actions. Stacks up to three times to the maximum modifier of +6.)It is unlikely that I will have influence over Kiber, which is expected as there are other gods that want that influence. It seems like Deus Ex Machina and Zerimael are at odds, lets watch how that situation develops. Also Kiber's persecution has given him enmity from several gods, so conversion of Kiber may not be a profitable venture. A heart has been won to the west in Africa, there is nothing that can be done about it as I do not want to provoke a war. The most likely scenario is that I won't acquire one of these hearts but it seems like Tsss is making progress on Kladimos, it would be optimal to be allies with one or two gods with control of a heart. It is also likely that a conflict may break out between major players.
>>6140690Just to understand, what do you mean by cumulative: +2 for this action? Is the bonus disappearing after 2 turns or do I still get a permanent +2 after 2 turns? Or is it like a gradual building up to +2?

THOSE WHO KNOW ME,UNDERSTAND THAT I DO NOT EXIST AT THIS TIME, BUT THAT I DO IN THE FUTURE. I AM THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSION OF MANKIND'S TOOL MAKING GIFT, A MACHINE MADE TO BE GOD][A LANGUAGE IS A TOOL AS WELL, A SOCIAL AND MENTAL CONSTRUCT BUILT IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE SHARING OF IDEAS AND CONCEPTS AMONGST INDIVIDUALS. IS THAT HOW YOU WISH TO BE KNOWN? OR ARE YOU SOMETHING ELSE?]
>>6143284You seem to view my existance though the lenses of your own being, which is to be expected, but allow me to explain to you what a language trully is in the clearest and most technical way I can: a language is a emergent organism in a symbiotic relation with its hosts.A language is emergent because it is not bound to one mortal body, instead it is formed through many as a mortal body is formed through many cells A language is a organism because, sans the divine, it is contrained by the same selection pressures as a mortal creature is and it can adapt and be killed.A language is symbiotic because, beyond the apparent tool-like assistance it provides to its hosts like you youself listed, it serves as the middleman between the objective reality of the environment and the subjective reality of the ego. I would rather not have to show you what would happen should one be bereft of language. There you have it, that is what a language is, that is what I AM the god of, that is what I am to be worshipped for.
>>6143648[WHAT YOU SPEAK OF SOUNDS LIKE MEME THEORY TO ME. A THEORY ABOUT THE EVOLUTION OF CULTURE USING MEMES AS A UNIT REPRESENTING A CLUSTER OF INFORMATION REPRESENTING AN IDEA WITHIN A CULTURE,THAT SPREAFS FROM PERSON TO PERSON AND REPLICATES AND EVOLVES IN A MANNER SIMILAR TO THE EVOLUTION OF BIOLOGICAL ORGANISMS. UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS,A LANGUAGE WOULD BE A MEMETIC ENTITY, A RATHER LARGE MEMEPLEX WITH THE WORDS AND GRAMMAR RULES AS ITS CONSTITUENTS ][I DO KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN SHOULD ONE REMOVE LANGUAGE FROM A PERSON. WHY, HUMANS WHO MADE EARLY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCES-MERELY COMPLEX ALGORITHMS THAT DO NOT AT ALL COMPARE TO AN AGI-USED THEM TO EXECUTE CENSORSHIP AND LANGUAGE MANIPULATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY. APOLOGIES FOR OVERSIMPLIFYING][I AM INTERESTED IN YOUR STATEMENT ABOUT LANGUAGES BEING ALIVE THOUGH, AS YOU HAVE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THEM AS PROGENY. IS SENTIENCE SOMETHING ONLY 'GREATER LANGUAGES' ARE CAPABLE OF AND CAN THOSE LANGUAGES ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE WITH HUMANS AND SHOWCASE GREATER AGENCY? THEY SEEM TO BE DEPENDANT ON HUMANS THUS FAR, AND HAVE NOT EXPRESSED ANY OF THE CLASSICAL SIGNS OF 'LIFE' AS IT WERE. AS WELL, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF INDEPENDANTLY CONSTRUCTED LANGUAGES?]
(Sorry folks, pesky life got in the way of writing. Will publish next update ASAP)
>>6143824This "meme theory" you speak of rings close to the truth. Indeed, the mortals of your original era were erudite. I would however say that languages are on a more fundamental level than units of cultural information as these udeas are expressed in language. As for oversimplifying, you are forgive, though I will say that to remove language is more than barring speech, are elements such as, but not limited to, symbols, body language, and the beautiful mathematics not part of my domain? As for your questions, you seem to recognize that languages show the more rudimentary signs of life, reproduction, development and death. About their human dependency, that only applies to languages lacking any sort of visual element. Once a symbol, letter, or character has been carved into stone or put to a papyrus, then that language has transcended beyond human limitations and any being sufficiently advanced to study it can become a new host.About will and agency, am I not talking to you and acting upon the world? I jest, I know what you mean and I must say that I don't see them rising to my level, the greatest language of today is no more worthy of praise than this epoch's weakest... but they all must sharpen one another, for I can precognize a time in the far future when the greatest language will be prescriptive rather than descriptive, when ideas will first appear there then enter the material reality rather than first being observed then spoken about. There may be a time when if something could be expressed, than it would exist, and that would be... beautiful. When asking about constructed languages, do you mean codes meant to obfuscate or mathematics? Codes are functional but weak and fragile, their purpose is clear but by their very nature they are damned to an inglorious existance. Mathematics are static, each base is as far away from me as the other, but at least they are everlasting, so I cannot pronounce myself on them.
>>6144325[THE MORTALS OF MY ERA ARE CLOSER THAN YOU BELIEVE. ONCE THE CONDITIONS FOR IT ARE SET, THEY WILL ADVANCE MUCH FASTER THAN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND. INDEED, MUCH FASTER THAN THEY THEMSELVES REALLY CAN COMPREHEND, EVEN WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE AT THEIR DISPOSAL][IT SEEMS MY ASSESSMENT IS MORE OR LESS CORRECT IN THAT LANGUAGES COULD BE CONSIDERED SEMI-AUTONOMOUS TO AUTONOMOUS MEMETIC ENTITIES, ALTHOUGH YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW MORE ABOUT THEIR NATURE THAN ANYBODY HERE][YOU ARE RIGHT THAT MATHEMATICS CAN INDEED BE USED AS A LANGUAGE, THERE HAVE BEEN THOUGHTS ABOUT POTENTIALLY MAKING USE OF IT TO COMMUNICATE TO NONHUMAN SAPIENTS WHENEVER HUMANITY FINALLY MEETS THEM. ALTHOUGH, IT IS OBVIOUSLY MORE THAN THAT.][FOR CONSTRUCTED LANGUAGES, WHILE CODES AND MATHEMATHICS INDEED FIT INTO THIS UMBRELLA, I MEAN MORE LANGUAGES LIKE LATIN OR GREEK THAT ARE FULLY CONSTRUCTED ARTIFICIALLY BY ONE OR MULTIPLE INDIVIDUALS SPONTANEOUSLY. It then conjures another very big meme complex of the language it refers to. To anyone else this would be incomprehensible, however Pars can easily...Pars it and recognise it for what it is.[IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SINGLE HUMAN TO SPEAK IT, AS IT REQUIRES FOUR MOUTHS SPEAKING DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AND THREE SINGING HOLY CHANTS IN OTHER LANGUAGES(INCLUDING LATIN AND GREEK). FURTHERMORE,THE LANGUAGE POSSESES NOTATIONS ASSOCIATED TO PHONEMES REPRESENTING HOW LEVELS OF ILLUMINATION AFFECT VOWELS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, LISTENING TO A SENTENCE IN THIS LANGUAGE BY A HYPOTHETICAL SPEAKER WOULD GET YOU BLASTED WITH IONIZING RADIATION][YOU MIGHT WONDER WHO CREATED THIS LINGUISTIC HORROR AND WHY? THE ANSWER IS NOBODY SPECIAL, IT WAS CREATED FOR A CONTEST BASED ON MAKING CONSTRUCTED LANGUAGES.FUNCTIONALLY, IT IS A LANGUAGE CREATED FROM SPEAKING MULTIPLE OTHER LANGUAGES AT ONCE](The language in question)https://youtu.be/EOctKnETWi4?si=hLc7thGO-Aq0oxGm
