>Six sisters peacefully coexist in a house- at least four hours a day, which is when everyone is sleeping.
>No parents. No passive income. Cake is for special days only. The cake is rice with a candle, but with actual salt.
-You are the youngest of the sisters, and also the smallest, by far on both accounts. You can't talk. You can't read or write. But you can, at least, throw silent tantrums.

And your goal is to hold it all together.
>>
I will leave this here first and foremost a couple of days to gauge interest. If anons don't care I will delete the thread before going in too deep myself. Demo post tomorrow or so because screw headaches.
>>
>>6172203
I don't understand. What are we supposed to do?
>>
>>6172207
I'll answer, but I'm curious. What do you garner from the OP alone?
>>
>>6172209
Make a character? Make SIX characters?
>>
>>6172201
Alright. Is this a Madeline-esque quest?
Where are our choices?
>>
>>6172212
Characters will be pre-made, even the MC. Choices will be write-in, but there will be a clarification of events at the end of each post to make things easier to understand. Tomorrow's post will make the format clear.

>>6172215
Whut's Madeline? Also >>6172203. I'm just testing the waters for now before going all out, taking advantage of how slow the threads move.
>>
>>6172218
Children's book.

Anyhow, you're supposed to begin a quest with (story) + (choices). Don't leave your players hanging!
>>
>>6172203
Also, maybe delete this thread altogether and start anew when you ACTUALLY have a plot in mind. This is not to be mean, but, even though the board is TERRIBLY, EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW, you should have something for your readers from the get-go.

Perhaps go into the /qtg/ or /qtg/ discord if you'd like some advice on HOW to start a quest. Having some small semblance of a plan as well as feedback from others is also a good idea.

Best of luck on your next run (or if you continue this).
>>
>>6172223
My solid unit of a man, I've been here from the start; my first quest was in 2016. I've been using this format for two years already in my threads. Simply because one does things differently doesn't mean one is unaware of the norm. There is a plot. There is a plan. I'm simply, as stated two times earlier, gauging the interest in the concept in order to get the motivation to develop both fully, because otherwise I could get over-invested in an idea no one else cares about in a forum about collective story telling.
>>
>>6172229
I would also suggest a bit more meat on the bones if you want to gauge interest. You've given us not a lot to discuss or get intrigued or excited over.
>>
>>6172229
Bro. Then just begin with a story from the get-go.

That gauges more interest than baiting your readers with a premise before offering no choices whatsoever. Sorry to say, but that's the way it goes.
>>
>>6172232
That maybe because >>6172203 'Demo post tomorrow or so because screw headaches'. Simply ignoring the thread until tomorrow would have been enough. For now, I wanted to see if the core idea sounded appealing to some, barebones as it is. I'm surprised at the impatience in a forum where threads stay two months in the catalog.
>>
>>6172235
The core idea is fine.
>>
Nobody's going to be interested in a quest if all you give them is a skeleton. The place for pitching quests and gauging interest is QTG, not in its own thread. What were you expecting?
>>
>>6172234
There is no 'bait', and there is no hurry either, and that's also not 'the way it goes'. It can go many ways. As stated, I've done this many times in previous threads before starting posting, with quite a lot less drama as a result, in threads that usually ended up over 500 posts with solid commitment. But you know what, maybe this is a signal and I should be grateful for it. If I have to sit my ass for hours on end instead of playing vidya or going out just to get this kind of attitude, then neither of us will end up happy with the result.

>>6172242
To be honest, a lot less structure and scrutiny in a such a quiet place one was willing to spend hours of effort to breathe some life into. I pitched my quest in my own thread, so what? I had stated, right off the bat, that the demo post would come tomorrow because I have a headache.

I'm baffled at the lack of tolerance and willingness to chase off a qm simply because it didn't do things the way you are used to. With that attitude, you don't deserve my sweat. Or, in my opinion, no one else's for that matter. I don't want to write for you.Thread closed.
>>
>>6172243
Start a quest with a quest next time, genius.
>>
>>6172246
I won't start a next quest. Good luck keeping qst alive with that attitude.
>>
>>6172243
>>6172249
Oooooh, it's one of those threads. Lol. K.
>>
>>6172251
It wasn't. I genuinely wanted to write a quest. Just not for people like this.

I can't delete the thread. If a mod reads this, please do delete it. It will just be taking space in the catalog.
>>
>>6172253
You really wanted to write a quest, and have been here consistently for nine years, so you made a thread with an odd intro post, and then were surprised at some very light shitposting by two confused/skeptical anons, and let those two anons immediately tank your engagement in the board? That's unfortunate to hear.

I'm curious, though... What other quests have you run? What is your usual style? You said you do this water-testing approach often, with an intro with few details and no vote, but I can't recall seeing it before.
>>
>>6172269
Not surprised, but annoyed. You can downplay it as much as you want, but getting this treatment right off the bat didn't give me much hope for the future or any sort of motivation to indulge any of you- which I stated was what I was after. QMing is a lot of unpaid work, done purely for its own sake, and it leaves you nothing but good memories. And while I would have had to bust my ass to keep things consistent, all the bunch of you had to do was wait for one single day. But based on the posts you weren't even reading what I was posting- so why would I care? And I won't mention my other quests. I'm not in the mood for that kind of scrutiny, in case you haven't noticed.

I felt it would be impolite to leave your post unanswered, but I won't be answering any further.
>>
>>6172489
Tbh, sounds like a lot of bullshit. In case it's not, though, good luck. A QM this fragile and fussy was not long for this board and probably hasn't actually run a proper quest worth mentioning.
>>
>>6172223
>Perhaps go into the /qtg/ or /qtg/ discord
I really should read the op because only NOW I realized there is a discord rip
>>
You are the youngest of the sisters, and also the smallest, by far on both accounts. You can't talk. You can't read or write. But you can, at least, throw silent tantrums. You can at least crawl, walk three or four steps.

Not that you would.

Your three oldest sisters went to work every day from the crack of dawn until the moon rose high. You were bundled up in various blankets adorned with patches and pretty needlework made from your sisters. Though there was a problem, you were terribly thirsty. The bucket of water was on the table too far for your stubby arms. Also, the bundle of blankets also was your prison. Your fourth oldest sister was next to you, sleeping soundly. Should you try to escape, she will wake up, and so will the rest.

>Try to escape
>Bear with the thirst
>>
>>6172574
>Try to escape
'Terribly thirsty' is too much.

Hey if you got a better way to write it feel free to write your own quest
>>6172579

gonna write now but am at work kek
>>
Being so terribly thirsty, your throat was parched, dryer than the crusty wooden floor of the shack. You assume is a shack, since there was no room but one open space. Your sisters laid on the floor in a field of blankets, away from the dingy fireplace. You shift left. You shift right. You shimmy to break free of this terrible (but comfortable) bondage.

"Mm?" Your fifth oldest sister, Aela, opened her eyes. "[write-in name], what is it?"

You babble, damn these undeveloped vocal chords.

"I'm here, go back to sleep. Go back to..." Aela yawned. "Go back to..."

You slap her face. Then point at the bucket of water.

"Oh you're thirst."

She picked you up then scooped the ladle in the bucket and gently fed you the water. The lukewarm water quench your throat.

"Aela?"

Your oldest sister walked over.

"Morning Athena..." Aela said. "I got it covered, you can go back to sleep."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, go back to sleep silly. Come on you little meatball," Aela yawned again. "Let's go back to sleep."

The next morning, you saw your sisters leave for work. Being trapped in the shack, you didn't have much to do. Though it looks like your sisters did.

>It was a foraging in the forest
>They started their morning chores
>You were left alone after your sisters left
>>
>>6172587
I was trying to say that being 'terribly thirsty' is too dangerous and could lead to worse things that a bit of nightly bitching. I use 'terribly' too when I write. That being said: chill.

>>6172600
>"You slap her face."
damn bitch

>You were left alone after your sisters left
Are we choosing the story beats now?
>>
>>6172605
You threw a tantrum because despite 9 years of being on this board you didn't know how to start a test qst and got rightly trashed for it.

"With that attitude, you don't deserve my sweat. Or, in my opinion, no one else's for that matter. I don't want to write for you.Thread closed."

In the same spirit, "with that attitude, you don't deserve my sweat" I'm not counting your votes. You give QMs a bad name.

>>6172611
Ok.

That's the thing, though. Players rightfully are used to QMs flaking all the time. And I think if they saw some half formed, cryptic opening that had nothing for them to sink their teeth into, why would they want to come back?
Players aren't obligated to give you any engagement if you don't even give them the bare minimum. I would rightfully think this was a spam thread if it wasn't for you having a temper tantrum at people going "what do we do?"

As for the initial idea? There's nothing for anons to gauge about it since it's three sentences and it boils down to "There's six dirt poor sisters and you're the youngest!" That's not remotely interesting enough for anyone to care about. There's nothing to sink your teeth into from that description and expecting anons to care about that and going "oh you'll get the rest of the actual story later teehee!!!!" is
Are you one of those auteur types who huffs his own farts? That's how you're acting.
>>
>>6172643
If this format somehow did work, I think I would be interested to see how and why. Names, archives, something.

>>6172600

>>They started their morning chores
And for the name, since the sisters all seem to have names starting with A, how's about:
>Anya

In case a mod reads this, please disregard this post. Someone else is already running a quest in the thread.

You were cocooned in a swaddle again, strapped on Aela's back. She and your other two sisters Amelie the fourth oldest and Anne, the third oldest, traveled to the nearby forest. Seeing outside, the shack was located at the edge of a village, maybe a town, what you knew was you and your sisters lived far.

"The water's too cold..." Amelie breathed on her red fingers.

"Take a break Ame. I can do some of yours." Anne said.

"I'm fine, I can do it!" Amelie dipped her hand into the river and scrubbed the cloth. "Don't worry about me Annie. I'll be fine! We get one ducat for each towel washed, that means we can add some more stuff into the stew!"

The sun seeped through the leaves at the forest's riverbed and showered you warmly. Your sisters chatted, their laughter echoing through the quiet forests. This was nice. You wish you could chat with them too. Though this would take a long while to do so.

Later in the evening, the rest of your sisters arrived. Athena, the oldest, returned with a black right eye. The three oldest reassured this was a mere accident, but somehow, you knew it wasn't. Speaking of, were babies like you meant to be this cognizant?

Eh.

Probably.

"C'mere Anya," Athena picked you up and placed a wooden bottle.

Mmm

No wait, her black eye.

But milk

But her black eye!

Just what happened to your sister?

Your life went on as such, a life of an infant was a boring and messy one. You discovered that most babies did not have the clarity that you had, and at the age of five you...

Your life went on as such, a life of an infant was a boring and messy one. You discovered that most babies did not have the clarity that you had, and at the age of five you spoke with a priest, shocking him due to your "eloquence." Holy Child, they called you, claiming your intelligence as a gift from God, maybe even a Saint reborn. You didn't feel holy, and you were certain you weren't holy either.

Then again, how does one know their own holiness?

Was it instinct?

Measured?

"And I keep telling you she's not some property you can take!"

You stood behind Aela, who stood behind the rest of your sister with Athena at the front who blocked the priests and the knights from entering.

"She is clearly a holy child blessed with intelligence from God. This place is no place for her, and you are not fit to raise, filthy whore!"

"The magistrate won't allow this, taff off!"

The church in the land you lived on had plenty of influence, often embattled with the royalties. The local lord seemed to keep the church from growing. If the local lord didn't, you were certain you would have been taken by now.
