It is May 19th 0079, of the Universal Century, five days since your first two missions and the Federation's first victory against Zeon in the Australian front. Brigadier General Warren Keller organized scattered Federation forces into a formidable fighting force, launching an operation to retake a major port base in Brisbane to re-establish supply lines with the mainland Federation forces and build a solid foothold to reclaim Australia from the Spacenoid invaders. Though Keller received credit for the victory, you are still widely recognized for the vital role you played in the Battle of Brisbane. For your pivotal contributions to the battle- successfully shooting down two Zakus, saving the lives of your squad mates, and convincing the Zeon base commander to surrender peacefully to prevent further bloodshed in a massive battle, you earned two promotions and a few shiny medals that you don't quite know what to do with. You are now Corporal Jag Rommel- squad leader of your own anti-Mobile Suit specialist unit, one of three squads that make up the 7th anti-MS platoon lead by your former squad mate Yunnus Wynn. It's something you're still trying to get used to, both in responsibility and the way others now treat you. For your nearly unbelievable contributions, you have started to become a bit of a folk hero to your fellow infantrymen. The pressure of their expectations bear down on you, adding to the weight of the lost souls you feel obligated to carry on your shoulders. Not only that, corrupt officers are beginning to pester and harass you. Some covet the fame and achievements you've achieved, convinced that your glory is nothing but tall tales and stretched truths that you somehow got Keller to believe. After all, how could a fresh recruit achieve so much in so little time, in the profession with the highest mortality rate? Whatever the case, it sickens you that even in such dire times, there are those that only think of themselves and what they can stand to gain amidst the horror and bloodshed, but you try to keep yourself centered and focus on your goals. It is currently midday, and you are:>Out for a walk, thinking about the last time you spoke with Will and Helena>In the mess hall, listening to Gaspa entertain the other soldiers as he recounts the Battle of Brisbane>Looking through personnel dossiers to choose who will join your new squad>Other- write in?

To give you a short summary:>Zeon easily takes full control of Australia after wiping Sydney off the face of the Earth>General Keller begins to organize a counterattack, starting with Brisbane due to having the closest port base to re-establish supply lines to the isolated Aussie forces>Jag, as a part of the anti-MS corps, is tasked with hunting down MS >Things go sideways and the anti-MS corps gets decimated. Lots of things blow up>Jag takes down a Zaku and fends off another, capturing a PoW along the way>Hoping to prevent bloodshed on both sides and the destruction of the city from battle, Jag convinces the PoW to help him try and convince the Zeeks to surrender>Zeeks surrender
>>6173676You decide to prioritize the formation of your new squad. The earlier you form up, the more time you can spend acclimating the group to working together as a single fluid unit. You stride through the many hallways and rooms of the now-Federation controlled Brisbane port base until you find Yunnus.Greeting him with a sharp salute, he offers one in return and the formalities fade away as you smile at each other and exchange a firm and brotherly handshake."Congratulations on the promotion, sir." you say to your squad made turned CO."I should be saying that to you," Yunnus chuckles. "Two promotions? You'll be outranking me by the next mission at this rate.""I'm honestly still not sure if I deserved it.. can I really lead a team when I've only got two missions under my belt? Will I know what I'm doing?" you say, your worries spilling out in front of a friend."Well, as your commanding officer, I order you to cease those thoughts at once!" Yunnus retorts loudly with confidence, before the smile returns to his face, his voice getting softer. "Believe in yourself, Jag. We all do. You performed miracles in Brisbane, and we all see what you're capable of.""I... thank you, sir."Yunnus smiles and pats your shoulder, before leading you to one of the nearby rooms. He opens the door, revealing a mountain of dossiers stacked high on the lone desk. "So, I assume this is what you're here for? These are all your potential squad mates. Read through these carefully and choose well." "Uh, all that?""Yep. Most of these are soldiers who specifically requested to be transferred to your squad. Like I said, we all see what you're capable of. Good luck!" Yunnus says with a smile before returning to his duties. You sigh, looking at the large stack of papers, and you sit down to get to work. It takes you over an hour to read through every single dossier. It makes you a little nervous, wondering if you can really live up to their expectations and more importantly, keep them alive. An ambitious yet foolish goal you admit to yourself, being in the corps with the highest mortality in the army due to the fact that humans tend to have poor results when pitted against an 18 meter tall robots. Nevertheless, you have a job to do and things to accomplish, and you've narrowed it down to four choices. Anti-MS squads traditionally consist of five people: A commander who keeps a clear head and tracks the situation to lead his squad through the mission, a support gunner who's sole purpose is to protect the team from anything that's NOT an 18 meter tall robot, and three specialists equipped with Reginas meant to take down the Zeek mobile suits. It's admittedly not a "tried and true" squad formation, the army's been playing it by ear since anti-mobile suit combat is still relatively new.
>>6173689You've had several discussions with Yunnus and other officers about restructuring squad formations, stating that three specialists in one squad might be too many, and that the commander role can be made a hybrid role to take on top of being a gunner or specialist. If specialists were spread out to create more squads and squad numbers lessened, it could make it easier to move faster and command your squad more effectively.. or so you thought. Most of the other officers replied somewhere along the lines of "Who the hell are you to be telling us all this?", and Yunnus argued that the reason three specialists are in a squad is due to the fact that specialists tend to have extremely short life spans, and top brass hopes that throwing more bodies in a squad could prevent a squad from being out of commission when one or two specialists inevitably get Zaku'd. But, Yunnus is a flexible CO and he believes in you, so he's allowed you the freedom to experiment with your squad formation. Though five is recommended, you're allowed to form your squad with less. Naturally, Gaspa is the first person to come to mind for your squad. You trust nobody more with your life, and he's proven himself by keeping both you and your other squad mates alive in the last battle during multiple occasions, fulfilling his duty as support gunner perfectly. That leaves you with up to three more to recruit to fill your squad, which you've narrowed down to four choices.Benjamin McCann- Private second class, 30 years old. Hotheaded Irish asshole. You didn't start off on the right foot, but if guts and grit were enough to win the war, he'd have won it on the war's first day. A big guy who was apparently a professional martial aritst before the war, he excels at close quarter combat, not that it would be too helpful against giant robots.. Still notably injured, but that hasn't stopped him from leaving the medical bay to exercise and practice his shooting, much to the frustration of on-staff nurses. You're unsure how well you two could mesh with each other, but he requested to join your squad despite his apparent dislike of you. Nicholas Maxwel- Private third class, 20 years old. An officer who seems to have earned the ire of someone in the upper brass, because he's been demoted and transferred to the anti-MS corps. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth, as someone clearly is trying to serve this man a death sentence. His physical aptitude is nothing to write home about, but he's notably intelligent and seems to have an aptitude for adapting to any situation and keeping a cool head.
>>6173691Justine Moer- Private first class, 28 years old. Infamous daredevil, seasoned soldier. Her reckless and impulsive nature could make her hard to control, but her experience and skills make her an incredible asset. She's jumped around different corps, from infantry to demolitions to even espionage. You recall asking her before why she joined the army, and she simply replied "For the thrill!". A true wildcard, if you can keep her in line. Layla Lanes- Private third class, 16 years old. Sole survivor of another anti-MS squad. Skittish and pessimistic, you've heard other soldiers joke that morale tends to drop when she opens her mouth. However, her accuracy and effectiveness with ranged weapons overshadows her short comings, and her shoot ratio rivals even yours. She's the only other specialist who has managed to shoot down a Zaku and survived. Despite her impressive skills with any ranged weapon you put in her hands, she claims her true specialty is running away from anything dangerous.. which is something that would probably need to be addressed. So, who will you choose for your new squad? Choose between one to three:>Benjamin McCann>Nicholas Maxwel>Justine Moer>Layla Lanes
>>6173693>Nicholas Maxwel>Layla LanesStill catching up on the previous threads. Fun stuff so far though.
>>6173693>>6173352oh yeah back again based>Benjamin McCann>Nicholas Maxwel>Justine Moeran asshole, an ex officer and a wildcard. Those two sound like trouble, and one that might be not too fast in repositioning. They might be all bad for squad cohesion. Still they want to be in, even the guy that dislike us.There is some good reasoning behind a small squad of anti-MS, if nothing else for throw a new formation on the battlefield and see if it works. At the same time, you cut on the firepower you can unleash, said firepower can all easily die that is true as we have seen before with our now very much dead companions
