It has been 100 years since ancient beings, known as the Old Ones, walked the Earth with their two strong feet. Now they are gone and we animals now rule the remains that they left behind. With our new knowledge of sword and sorcery, we were able to survive in peace for a while, but then came the three factions.
The Apes: Strong giants, claiming to be as just as the old ones and believe they should be the ones to rule over the new world.
The Pigs: An intellectual but slothful group who wish to rule the world with an iron hoof and remain kings while the others remained as dumb animals.
Then there the Lizards: A fast and large group that want to set the world a blaze. Trying to forget the harsh past that the old ones left.
All three sides wishing to go war and destroy one another to bring in what they believe to be true peace.
But, unbeknownst to everyone, there was another group. One that was trying their best to find a way to heal everyone. To bring back order.
You found it.... and now you are taking care of it.

A D&D Homebrew Adventure.

I'm here. Just waiting for the others.

I don't expect I'll do much, since the plan was for me to essentially be good faith collateral to the queen, reassure her that we don't intend to scram entirely. Suits me just fine to leave the investigation up to Ursus and Kinny, since I'm busy atm.
>>

I’m here
>>
Can't do a lot of posts... but.

>>6279806

>You both find yourselves in a prison.
>Thankfully much cleaner than the apes.
>It's still dark and dingy but again cleaner.
>You soon find your cell.
>A cell suited well for people who steal from royalty.
>Usually made for people under the death penalty or life in prison.
>Must be why it's the cleanest.
>Still best to make yourselves comfy in here.
>Mog and Ursus get their restraints removes and then put into their cell.
What do you two do now?
>>
>>6279839
>>6279847
Sorry, I was busy. Didn't think I was really needed, since the plan was for Ursus to pursue the Nihm dealer, iirc. I thought he was gonna slip away in the transition to the prison, before we were restrained.

Anyways, we had a late start to today. Now that the thread's up, we can hopefully start earlier next week.
>>
>>6279847
Right we do have that in us potion but I don’t know if they took everything off us

Back, and just found out I am dogsitting because I was volunteered to do so.

>The guards were smart enough to remove all weapons and armors.
>Thankfully they didn't take away the rings, holy symbol, or potions that didn't seem to do anything.
>Must have been rookies who put you in the cell since you were willing to turn yourself in.
>Either way they keep a good close eye on you as you are kept in your cell.
>The Wolf and the Ape.
>Both just in the pound.
>Don't know where they put the actual apes though.
>Probably in the dankest and darkest dungeon they can find.
>Still there are a bunch of other stray dogs here just chilling and waiting to be free, no matter how long it takes.
What do you do?
>>
>>6282776
Ursus waves at one of the other canines in the cell with a big gorilla hand
>>
>>6282810
>The dog awkwardly waves back...
"Umm.... hi...."

"So... what are you in here for? You stole some bread or something?"
>>
>>6282810
Waiting fir mog before things pop off
>>
>>6282817
I started a massive prison riot because the apes in charge where doing extremely corrupt stuff including disappearing people, this might end up causing conflict between the apes and the wolves but in all fairness they where literally trying to turn this government into a puppet state
>>
>>6282832
"....... oh........ okay....."
>>
>>6282835
Yeah the royals did not like that so that’s why me and my friend here are currently locked away
>>
>>6282847
"..... you're sure you're not here because you are mentally retarded and come up with weird fantasies? Because if you did something like that, wouldn't you two have been put in the lower cells?"
>>
>>6282853
That is a very important question and brings up some pretty interesting implications, for instance while our weapons where confiscated we still have options, hmmm. Hey mog are you thinking what I’m thinking?
>>
I'm here. Sorry for no heads-up that I was gonna be available or that I would be a bit late.
>>
>>6282870
It's okay Friend
>>
>>6282854
Mog lowered his voice to a whisper "Honestly? Probably not. I was think that we just have you drink your invisibility potion. Then I can yell for the guards that you just up and vanished. Presumably they'll open the cell to search for you. Y'know, see if you were a druid who transformed into a rat or something, and hid under the bed. Then you can slip out when they open the door, get your weapons and armour, and chase after the Nihm dealer. I'll stay here as collateral, just like we planned. If they overreact to you being gone, I can slip out the same way you do, with my own potion. Otherwise, you can slip back in with your second potion."

Whispering again, Mog said "Why don't you get underneath the bed covers, to shield yourself from view. Or if you are worried about the covers outlining you and giving away your invisibility, we can pretend like we're talking. I'll be in front of you, with my back to the cell bars, blocking your view from the guards. When you take it, I'll suddenly shout about you vanishing."

"As long as I can block their view of you drinking, it should be fine."

He shifted to stand in front of the bear, his back to the bars. Rearing up on his hind legs, he talked aloud animatedly "I'm sure the Queen will pardon us! After all, we were in the right! Those apes were practically declaring war on us themselves with their insane actions."

The deception had begun. The wolf could only hope the guards would buy it.

"I mean yeah. That can be true. But what you did was just as bad. What if they reported to the queen instead and you couldn't get proof. Then you would be in huge trouble. And huge trouble and then you would be in a worse situation. Death penalty don'tcha know."
>The distraction works enough for the bear turned ape to drink the potion of invisibility.
"Well it was nice talking to you but we gotta make sure your friend there don't do anything drastic an-.... where'd he go?"
>The two wolf guards look flabbergasted.

"That's ridiculous! Evidence or not, it doesn't change what they were doing in fact. Besides, I did get proof. There are hundreds of witnesses! Anywa-HUH!? Where'd Ursus go?! He's gone, he just disappeared!" Mog began to respond, before feigning surprise at the bear vanishing.

He began to blunder around the cell blindly, wandering around and feeling up the other prisoners and tapping at the walls like a madman. To make it easier for Ursus to escape, he continued his bumbling performance around the course of the cell until he tumbled into the path of the incoming guards moving through the cell threshold. He clung to their legs.

"Where'd he go? What'd you do to him! You monsters!" he wailed in frustration. This was all to physically impose himself in their way to make it easier for Ursus to escape and to distract them.

No worries, I was also late. Thought I'd be much earlier, but had to reschedule a dental appointment from yesterday to today, then come in early because there was a bunch of cancellations, so my afternoon appointment got moved up.

"Will do, fellas. Can't trust those rabid apes to stay put, huh." Mog replied in good cheer. The exhausted wolf then lay down to sleep.

>I take a Long Rest. All my Lucky charges and spells have been exhausted and need to be recuperated. IC I've also been awake for a night and a day iirc.

Also, a heads up for everyone, I won't be available next week. I'm going on vacation again, for a week. It happens to be good timing, since my character needs to sleep anyways. Just a suggestion OOC, if your current leads don't turn up anything, you can always head back to the temple and get help from our NPC allies. Their skills will help balance out yours. Time is of the essence, but you've still got all day/night or however long before the summit. Assuming the Incahat holds off any major plays until then, then the hate peddler's actions will hopefully stay limited in scale to "mere" individuals. You can afford caution, though it may cost some citizens their lives.

“No problem, asking for clarification is important. So as for how we will go about this, one human with tracking skills, one cat of great skill and I will plum the sewer system, it will be horrible, sifting through that smell to find the nihm dealer and all.

Wasn't as free as I hoped, renovations are still going on. Though I wasn't needed. To resume our more regular activity levels, we could have Jessica switch with me in the cell, though her skills are more useful in this scenario honestly. That, and I still need my sleep IC. Or Ursus, you could return and we could both sleep, then try and race to catch the Nihm dealer before the summit happens, for a tight finale.

I need people up at top shape so I’m game for whatever

Up to you, if you stop the Nihm dealer now, we could potentially prevent a catastrophe before it happens, but it'd probably deny us a thrilling finale for the arc if whatever QM had planned for the summit doesn't go off. I only mention it in case you and QM are getting bored of having just two people for the RP. If it is just schedule issues - like you said before, we're all probably busy right now - slowing down our pace, then my participating again probably won't help us resume our prior speed.

Guys I'm going to be honest. I'm starting to burn out. I'm starting to forget what we're even doing despite rereading the threads to check. Hell I'm confusing the irl group with what you guys are doing. I'm sorry for the lack of creativity lately.

Shit man I’m sorry you’re having a tough time with this, it’s been fun for me but I really do not want you to not have fun. Burn out is no joke. Whatever you need to do I’ll accept, sure it’ll suck but I really do not want you to suffer.

I want to at least finish the Canis Lupin Arc for you guys. Give you guys an ending for all the stuff I dragged you through.

There's a lot that I never really put in the effort to say, I'll say a little bit of it here, and save the rest for when we finish the arc.

At some point I hoped to do a recap and review, but as real life kept getting in the way of putting in the time, I kept putting it off. I initially wanted to give my thoughts on the forest cultist arc way back when, right after we completed it, but now there's probably too much distance in time between now in then to give much besides impressions. Basically to keep us all up to date, because rereading the archives can be time consuming.

I also noticed that we stopped getting XP for defeated enemies somewhere partway through the Canis Lupin arc. Plus we've been facing simple enemies/threats for the longest time, adding to the feeling that we're just going through narrative beats, with thoughts of mechanics or difficulty put to the side.

We've also just been on this arc for a very long time, though that can largely be attributed to me insisting on making the most of our time and not appropriately timeskipping. Basically making up a check list of stuff to do with all the invented lore in my head, when really we should've stuck to what you were capable of coming up with and managing with the time you had available (my focus on the political aspects of the summit with wanting to bribe supporters and irrelevant nonexistence political figures that were part of my character's lore for the country, but weren't introduced by you. In other words we should've just focused on the Nihm, Sage, the factions, and the Queen). It's my fault on insisting on a lot of the complicated shadowrunning partway though the arc, though I guess not entirely, since it wasn't fully acknowledged or engaged with. We weren't really ever pressured by the various factions seriously and most of the paranoia was just hype by me and Ursus. Plus we had understandable real life scheduling issues.

There's a lot more I could say still, and more elegantly and less rambling, but yeah. I want to say that I still had a lot of fun and enjoyed pretty much the entire quest and every little twist in this arc in particular. Superman was a little random as fuck, but the horror of the Nihm guy, the Incahat and squid reveal, the bomb underneath the castle, and various factions, it was all kino, if a little easy to resolve. Kinda pulled us in a lot of different directions. I'm sorry to hear you are burning out, and I hope you take the time you need to take care of yourself. If you need a hiatus or to stop, then I'm sorry that is the case, but I'm glad we all participated together, and am fine with whatever.

Also, I should've given you guys a heads up, 'cause I was here since several hours ago. Just turned away to handle some stuff while occasionally checking in. My bad.

I agree with a lot of these statements but I always figured the xp thing was just a thing the GM didn’t wanted to book keep and instead level us in respect to the context and content of our actions, I really want to say anything and rock the boat

I didn’t want to say anything and rock the boat
