I consider the Americas to be a single continent, because barring maybe Haiti, there's not one country in the Americas that any American will experience any real culture shock in. You may find different quirks that may puzzle you, but if you speak the language (which likely won't be hard for you to learn because we all speak languages that take a lot of influence from Latin) you'll fit right in.

We all more or less follow the same religion, except with national and ethnic quirks (black American Christianity vs Mexican Catholicism), we all dress the same, recognize the same major holidays, have the same values, we even enjoy similar music.

The reasons Europe and Asia aren't considered a single continent are the reasons north and south America should be considered a single continent.
